DWCAce Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I took these pics on a base visit to Dover in Nov '02. The quality sucks, but here are some of the highlights. After Short Circuit, this little fella had to find a career in EOD: Quote
+Epizikl Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 But as these photos (?!) And this not all: i have them it is much… Quote
+streakeagle Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Photos just can't do it justice. There is nothing like being near and/or under a C-5 flying low and slow with gear down. After having such an experience as a kid, the C-5 became one of my favorite aircraft. It took me a couple of years to find a 1/144 scale model kit (models of it were not so common back then). Of course, having grown up in the 1970s and 1980s, I much prefer the old MAC paint scheme of white over gray with a blue stripe in between. I will never understand the re-alignment of the USAF. SAC, TAC, and MAC forever! Quote
Anthony W. Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I don't give a damn how long it takes whoever is making this, I'll wait a decade for an astoundingly accurate C-5 with good VC and all others with no strings attached Quote
+Dave Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I will never understand the re-alignment of the USAF.SAC, TAC, and MAC forever! I miss it too but in fact it works out well for us now as it makes sense. I'm in a C-5 wing, and they are POS's. I want C-17's. Quote
Jeremiah Weed Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 (edited) I'm in a C-5 wing, and they are POS's. I want C-17's. On my last deployment ever, the day I got to Bagram from Indian Country, this C-17 decided it would be cool to do a nose-gear up landing. Once it was determined everyone was unharmed, hilarity ensued watching a bunch of A-10 guys try to deal with it. But the Chief, being a Chief, knew what to do and took over and pretty much single handed got the A/C moved. Edited February 7, 2009 by Jeremiah Weed Quote
JediMaster Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I've had C-5s take off right over me here as our runway ends right at the road that runs alongside the base. It is NOT a comforting sight. The speed and the noise made it seem like it would fall on your head! Quote
