Stratos 3,188 Posted March 15, 2009 Ok, now with the better price, I'm almost decided to buy OFF, but have a couple of doubts I will like to solve before the purchase. -The CFS3 part. How the CFS engine affects things like the enemy location ( While you're fighting theres something that tells you where and how far are the enemies? ). And specially, how you can create single missions? Is possible to select your take off point, target area and style of mission? For example a CAP over the front or a interdiciton with a two seater?? Thats it. Hope not going wrong with this one is a bit expensive
Olham 164 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) 1. you can have the TAC on; that's like a radar screen. It can be switched to "All", Airplanes", "Buildings", "Vehicles" and "Ships". You'll see further away objects as white specs. Closer to you, friends become blue, enemies red. You can mark a target; that will then be a yellow spec. 2. You can have "labels on". All objects will now have a writing above them, including their distance to you. Distant objects will be "bogey", closer to you, the writing says, what it is. So, your wingmen appear with plane type, and their name even! Friend again in blue, enemies red. 3. You can fly "Quick flight" single missions. There are dogfight, escort or bomber attack. You can choose a lot; like your airfield, how many you are, or if you start in the air (various heights); weather, enemy plane type and number, and enemy skill (rookie, veteran, ace). But the best and most immersive are the campaign flights. You choose, which Squad. or Jasta you enter, and when in the war, and wich rank you want. Then, the flights come different every time. You can click for another flight route, when the first appears too long. And then, off it goes. When you put everything on most reality, it is really something to learn, and often very hard - a real challenge. But you could first put it on medium or simpler, to get into it. If you are an air combat simmer, and not an arcade flyer, you'll be absolutely right here! And welcome! Olham Edited March 15, 2009 by Olham
depalmer 0 Posted March 15, 2009 Stratos I think others in this thread have answered your questions. Given the OFF team lowered the price for a limited time to $39.00 buy it. I am glad I did even at the higher price. You can set realism settings to your liking. I have played little IL2 since my CD arrived. I hope the OFF team can see that they can make real money releasing a couple planes a month for a small fee. I would be like a dope head, money in hand each month with the shakes...... Stratos 3,188 Posted March 15, 2009 Lables will be the way to go for me. Sounds like it just what I needed. Hope is possible to activate a time speed or warp or something. Flying this old kites will be needed. Is possible to activate the Warp like in CFS3 ( the plane flyes in autopilot ) or even better fly at a accelerated time? Flying this old kites will be needed. Is possible to activate the Warp like in CFS3 ( the plane flyes in autopilot ) or even better fly at a accelerated time? Yes to all above. OFF BHaH has the best campaign of any sim around. Once you get it tweaked to your liking (and it is very tweakable) be prepared to be immersed. It is like reading a great book that you can't wait to get back to everyday. Croz

I did see mention of a mission builder in this thread OFF mission builder shortcut. Thanks....
Fortiesboy 3 Posted March 15, 2009 It's really like this. Buy it and you will conclude that it is the best sim you ever played. Whether Quick combat or campaign- ( personally i fly QC mostly - hair raising dogfights. Think you're good ? try with labels off!! ) Don't buy it- and you will ( as long as you are into flight sims, ) wonder what you've missed. Not all these chaps here can be wrong. I fly it EVERY day- 'nuff said.
steve58 0 Posted March 15, 2009 well, not to worry, I ordered it 35 minutes ago....so where is it already??
Stratos 3,188 Posted March 15, 2009 Ok guys. Purchased, hope to get it soon. My idea is to play a bit of quick combat and then join the war from the beggining. Thanks for your help and the info. Really apreciatted
griphos 0 Posted March 15, 2009 That's how I did it. QC and then campaigns. I was nervous about starting campaigns before I was "ready" and it's been 10 years at least out of the sim cockpit for me. But I wound up killing a lot of pilots (mine) anyway in both. Jump in a campaign when you get it. The campaigns are very immersive, I think. You're in for a real treat. Burning Beard 14 Posted March 15, 2009 Ok guys. Purchased, hope to get it soon. My idea is to play a bit of quick combat and then join the war from the beggining. Thanks for your help and the info. Really apreciatted You will join the war from the beginning then join the war from the beginning, then join the war from the beginning,..... I haven't successfully completed 17 hrs let alone the war. Heck I would be happy to stay around long enough to get a plane upgrade, lol. If you're into immersion you will love it. Beard
