Boeing unveils new F-15 Silent Eagle

Recommended Posts

I think this was talked about but could not find in the forums. Anyway, if any of you can get your hands on

this weeks issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology there is a great article on Boeing's F-15SE Silent Eagle.

It was built under a secret project called Project Monty.

Maybe the mag should be called Aviation Leak & Spy Technology.

just add the TVC of the S/MTD and the canards too and it'll be America's answer to the latest generation Russian jets.

Those "latest generation" russian jets are still 25+ years old technology no matter how they're pimped up. Meanwhile MFI didn't go very far, nor does Pak-FA seem to anytime soon. Current-gen fighter jets have simply become too damn expensive to develop for any single nation to be able to afford them.

Really ? So the MIG-35 is 25 year old tech and I guess the Israelis are placing 25 year old tech in the SU-30 MKI. MIG-29 KUB hardly qualifies as 25 year old tech

The MiG-29's airframe dates from the 1970's. The engines are based on equally old tech. You can update the cockpits and the avionics and radar, but it's still a 1970s design, as is the F-15.

The F-22, actually, is a 1990s design based on a 1980s design (the YF-22).
