cosmos33 0 Posted April 11, 2009 I have a hard time getting why this software is not available for download. Its frustrating having to wait 7-15 days to get it delivered to my door, when every game I buy , i do it from direct 2 drive or other means like this. I got a master's in computer game programming, I make websites for a living, this should't be hard to do . Hell Il give you a hand for free for the sake of it. You are loosing sales for sure because of this.
UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted April 11, 2009 The trouble with people today, is they want everything so damn quick.

Olham 164 Posted April 11, 2009 cosmos33, I understand your suffering. And when you are in the sim, you will realise, that you should have even suffered harder. So good is it! Remember, how pre-X-mas was, as a child? Try to see it that way; even when you're grown up now (Lol!!)
cosmos33 0 Posted April 11, 2009 (edited) Yep I remember, lol, but seriously, it should be downloadable, im serious, il give a hand for free. Edited April 11, 2009 by cosmos33

Schnitzel von Krumm 0 Posted April 11, 2009 cosmos33, I understand your suffering. And when you are in the sim, you will realise, that you should have even suffered harder. So good is it! I find I have to agree. And I'm really not good at waiting. Patience is not one of my virtues. I think the biggest reason that there's no download is sheer size. The DVD is crammed full, and when you get the game you'll see why. It expands to over 15 gigs on your harddrive. It would have been nice to get it quicker, but it was worth the wait. UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted April 11, 2009 P1 and P2 were downloadable...and believe it or not, with the ISP hassles OBD had, it would have been amazing if they had gone that route again!
Schnitzel von Krumm 0 Posted April 11, 2009 P1 and P2 were downloadable...and believe it or not, with the ISP hassles OBD had, it would have been amazing if they had gone that route again! How big were P1 and P2 relative to P3?
Rickitycrate 10 Posted April 11, 2009 Cosmos33, I don't know about the file size if P1 &P2. I do know as far as waiting is concerned you have it easier than most, I assume you just ordered, but the anticipation of the OFF vets back in the old forum was murder. OFF BH&H was "coming soon" it seemed for ages. Then after release they all ordered right away swamping the distributor with orders. Then the long wait for it to arrive in the mail. Well, for us that's past and we are unto better things and you will be soon too. It seems to not take nearly so long to appear in the post as it once did. Best wishes with your waiting. Get ready for a "change" when it does arrive.
rabu 9 Posted April 11, 2009 P1 and P2 were available on line and our server costs were horrific it wasn't just the downloads, it was the repeat downloads because of corruptions, etc. The voluntary donations didn't come close to supporting the costs of the number of free downloads and that is one of the reasons we went with the DVD pay route. Most players don't have a problem with waiting, I have only seen a few complaints out of hundreds who wait patiently, so... patience, grass hopper. When youy get it I think you will agree it was well worth the short wait.
cosmos33 0 Posted April 11, 2009 ok the cost makes sense , and im sure that will be one of the best games i played in ages, just can't wait to get it.

Jammer28 0 Posted April 11, 2009 Hello cosmos33, Expanding on Rickitycrate’s post. For the longest time I searched the internet looking for a worthy successor to RB3d. I was very disappointed to only find arcade type WWI “games”. Then one day I happened upon Over Flanders Field. After looking at screen shots and videos and reading the forums I was sold. Phase 3 was not out yet but was in beta. Phase 2 was available but you had to have someone make a DVD and mail it to you. I’m sure that someone would have if I had asked but I didn’t. I wanted Phase 3. The cost didn’t bother me. I was willing to wait for the final product. Periodically I would check the web site to see the status. The devs asked for people to sign up for Phase 3 to see what interest was there. I signed up giving my email address and waited and waited and waited. A few months passed then I finally received an email saying it was ready. Hot dog! Of course after ordering I had to wait some more. But believe me, once you have it you your seemingly endless wait will fade away. Over Flanders Field is more than I had anticipated. It’s no game. It even goes beyond being a sim. For me it’s an experience. Jammer
UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted April 11, 2009 (edited) Pity Jammer!...He came along right in the middle of not being able to play what he had seen at all, coming along right in the middle of P2 and P3 musta been hell!! "Of course after ordering I had to wait some more. But believe me, once you have it you your seemingly endless wait will fade away. Over Flanders Field is more than I had anticipated. It’s no game. dixieflyer 0 Posted April 11, 2009 Cosmos, If you can't wait a week for a great WWI sim, then maybe you don't really want one? Pull your "I'm a big boy now" panties up laddie and show some patience, it's worth it. Warren
Hauksbee 103 Posted April 11, 2009 Its frustrating having to wait 7-15 days to get it.... Cosmos33: Relax. It's 1918. Your disc is on its way to you just as fast as horse can pull.
cosmos33 0 Posted April 11, 2009 (edited) Dixie flyer, you brings nothing new to this discussion. My point was that i was wondering why it wasn't available for download. Recently I bought Empire total war over the net. 15 gig download. Every game I buy is from the net. Its fast, right now in 2009 it's reliable. If i buy another computer, i can re-download the game if i lost the cd on which I transferred it as a copy. Seriously I love the principle. Now i understand that they had issues or reliability with the other versions as far a download goes. Going DVD is probably the best way to go in this case. As far as not wanting to play it. Look, I don't know you , neither do you. Ive been playing flight sim since microsoft flight sim 1.0. Thats right for more than 25 years. I played red baron1 -2 -3d, all the major combat flight sim, remember secret weapon of the luftwaffe ? I think I can say I love combat sim and I do want this one just as much as you wanted it. This was not to bash the developpers. I wanted to know why from a business side of the story it wasn't available, and im sure alot of folks who have, and want this sim have asked this same question too. They answered, case is closed. End of story Edited April 11, 2009 by cosmos33
rabu 9 Posted April 11, 2009 Just pretend you're a new recruit in the flight mess hall and the regular pilots are giving you a hard time.. that's all it is. They are actually a really good group and will go out of their way to help you when you need it.. when that disk finally arrives at your door step!

cosmos33 0 Posted April 11, 2009 You guessed it right, steam it was. But I haven't had trouble with it so far. ( I like the fact that i can have my games stored on a web account in case i need em)
