malibu43 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) I just wanted to know if/how much interest there is in upgrading the WOV Ground War Enhancement to SF2:V compatibility. Is there any interest in an upgraded version? The upgrade would entail: - Using SF2:V aircraft naming convention (different versions of aircraft depending on the year). - Utilizing a 3rd party A-6A - Making sure all the ground objects are SF2 compatible - Using the stock A-1's and including some loadout updates (and hopefully wrech's pit) I don't have SF2:V yet, but if there is enough interest, I'll make sure this is on my list of things to do when I get it. Or, if anyone with SF2:V wants to help me get a head start with making some of the changes, that would be great as well! Lastly, if I do upgrade, I'm thinking of making it more of a NF type of add on. Ideally, it could be one download to get terrain, environment, weapons, aircraft, and upgraded campaigns for SF2:V. We have NF for WOE/SF2:E as an essentail add-on, but there is no free equivalent for WOV/SF2:V. Of course, I'm not going to claim for a second that I could produce anything like NF with regards to comprehensiveness and accuracy, but I think it would be a good starting point for any SF2:V installation. Maybe even coordinate with KillerBee and make it sort of a base pack for the mission pack project he's heading up... Would there be any interest in this? It's a lot of work if only a few are interested, so please let me know. Also, anyone interested in helping out? Edited July 27, 2009 by malibu43 Quote
+Baltika Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Gets my vote. Your Ground War enhancement really made WoV for me, so I say go for it  Quote
malibu43 Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Alright, Sounds like there's interest. Any suggestions for the "NF" style mod that I didn't already mention above? Quote
Wrench Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 The Patent-Pending, Stand-In, Not Even Close To Reality, But It Works & It's Free Prop Pit is for EVERYONE -- so go for it!! wrench kevin stein Quote
+PureBlue Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Yeah definitely interested in this Malibu, the one for the classic series was a must-install IMHO :) Quote
malibu43 Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 So I still don't have SF2:V. It'll be a couple weeks until I do, at the least, I think. I'll post some updates in this thread whenever there are any. Quote
malibu43 Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) OK, so a couple weeks was a little bit of an over estimate... Beta is uploaded an awaiting approval... Check it out and post any feedback here or in the file announcement thread! PS - If you get any good screenshots, post 'em here, and I'll use them to create a better looking image for the download. Also "Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam All-In-One Mod" is probably the worst name ever. If anyone has suggestions for a better name for the mod, let me know! Edited June 25, 2009 by malibu43 Quote
malibu43 Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 SF2V ALL INCLUSIVE Better, but still not as catcy as Nato Fighters or Yankee Air Pirate. Quote
malibu43 Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 (edited) OK, the first fixes for those with the beta: Open the loadout.ini file for the F-4J, find the ATTACK section, and make the bold addition below: [Attack] Loadout[01].WeaponType=BLU-1 Loadout[01].Quantity=1 Loadout[02].WeaponType=BLU-1 Loadout[02].Quantity=1 Loadout[03].WeaponType=CBU-24B Loadout[03].Quantity=3 Loadout[03].RackType=TER Loadout[04].WeaponType=CBU-24B Loadout[04].Quantity=3 Loadout[04].RackType=TER Loadout[05].WeaponType=Tank600_F4 Loadout[05].Quantity=1 Loadout[06].WeaponType=AIM-7E-2 Loadout[06].Quantity=1 Loadout[07].WeaponType=AIM-7E-2 Loadout[07].Quantity=1 Loadout[08].WeaponType=AIM-7E-2 Loadout[08].Quantity=1 Loadout[09].WeaponType=AIM-7E-2 Loadout[09].Quantity=1 Loadout[10].WeaponType=AIM-9H Loadout[10].Quantity=1 Loadout[11].WeaponType=AIM-9H Loadout[11].Quantity=1 Loadout[12].WeaponType=AIM-9H Loadout[12].Quantity=1 Loadout[13].WeaponType=AIM-9H Loadout[13].Quantity=1 Also, Wrench's A-1 cockpit folders didn't make it into the .rar. So please download them from the cockpits section here at CA, and drop them in your A-1H and A-1J folders! Gotta fly them skyraiders... Thanks to porterjr for pointing these out. snapper 21 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Hi malibu43 Brilliant mod really enjoying Steel Tiger thanks a lot for all the work. One little idea I had, that I will try later, was changing the weapons system target type for the NVA and VC squads from Ground to Air and Ground. This should stop me flying so low and straight. Cheers Snapper 21 Edited June 28, 2009 by snapper 21 Quote

malibu43 Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 OK, so the beta's been out for a bit, and I've only gotten some minor feedback so far. What I'd like to know is if there is anything that could be added that would either: a) enhance the experience for those that downloaded it, or b) convince those that didn't download to give it a try! I'm talking about things like additional aircraft or units, ground objects, campaign tweaks, environmental mods, etc... I am planning on adding the F-105F/G once that's SF2 ready, but other than that, I don't really have any additional major changes planned. Any feedback would be great! Thanks! Quote
topcat II Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Did install yesterday and works great many Thanks!! Quote

malibu43 Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 Also, I really need a better name. I was thinking "Comprehensive SF2V Upgrade Pack", but that's still not as good as Nato Fighters or Yankee Air Pirate. I know we can do better... Quote

malibu43 Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 v1.0 of the SF2V Air and Ground Expansion Pack (thanks porterjr!) is 99% ready. Just waiting on one more possible .ini contribution. What's new... Changes from Beta: -Changed Easter Offensive Campaign so campaign starts in March and N.V. is on the offensive -Changed Steel Tiger campaign so that player should get more CAS missions during offesnsives -Added Wrench's A-1 pit -Corrected error in F-4J loadout.ini file -Corrected sound for the 57mm explosions -Removed F-100's from Rolling Thunder Campaign -Added F-105G -Added B-57B and B-57G -Some other small misc fixes Quote
future_tuskegee_airman Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Wow! I really really can't wait for this 1! I always wanted to do some CAS & ground pounding in South Vietnam! Thanks to all those taking part in this creation! Sidenote:The last screenie of the A-1 with the toilet strapped to it is also in Osprey's US Navy A-1 Skyraider Units of the Vietnam War. I just picked it up and saw that picture. Great work! Quote
