Bullethead 12 Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) Happy Bastille Day Humanity will never be free until the last priest is strangled with the entrails of the last king, or however it was said :). Or, as I prefer to say today, until the last lawyer is strangled with the entrails of the last politician... Edited July 14, 2009 by Bullethead
Duce Lewis 3 Posted July 14, 2009 Humanity will never be free until the last priest is strangled with the entrails of the last king, or however it was said :). Or, as I prefer to say today, until the last lawyer is strangled with the entrails of the last politician... Well yes, to a point I can't drive down the road at the speed I want ...knowing the gov't will penalize me ...if I'm caught But if you go to Iran, you'll find many who envy our level of freedom Compared to their barbaric theocracy, our li'l Republic looks quite free And your proposal would lead to anarchy And that might lead to the worst barbarism of all
Dej 17 Posted July 14, 2009 Félicitations à tous nos amis Français. Au nom de la Liberté, il n'y a pas beaucoup des nations qui ont saigné plus que la France. I think...
Snoopy syndrome 0 Posted July 14, 2009 Thanks! There is still kings and lords, maybe more than ever, but they don't wear a crown anymore and are a bit less arrogant since 1789. Like every year, we'll firing fireworks, drinking wine, dancing...awaiting for the next revolution!
Olham 164 Posted July 14, 2009 Bullet, I would try a more modern version of freedom. So I would like to say: Humanity is never free, as long as it is not free from fear, from envy and hate, from lazyness and boredom.
JimAttrill 24 Posted July 14, 2009 I'm going to a French eatery tonight for a special meal in honour of the day. Last year's do was very good. I'm going with my wife and her sister - both French-speaking and Nationals, and my nephew who has a French passport but doesn't speak a dickey bird of the language. The dessert will be Crepes Suzette mmmmm

Bullethead 12 Posted July 14, 2009 Humanity is never free, as long as it is not free from fear, from envy and hate, from lazyness and boredom. I dunno. I figure envy and hate, and the fear they cause, are inescapable. They were viewed as such problems back in the day that God Himself wrote Commandments about them for Moses, but it hasn't done a bit of good as far as I can tell. OTOH, I view laziness and boredom as desirable conditions. I wish I had more time to be both . Anarchy rules!
