I first want to say THANKS, this is a great mod.

 

A question though, since I have a "combined SF2 packege", which means a merged install, how do I remove all the unnecessary SF2, SF2E or SF2I campaigns that show up in the "Start Campaign" A&G Expansion Mod list from the "merged install" ??? I only want the SF2V or A&G Expansion Campaigns to show, not the SF2, SF2E or SF2I campaigns.

 

I removed all the unnecessary planes for the other SF2 series, but have not figured out how to remove the unnecessary campaigns.

I think* what you can do is basically create folders and .ini files for all the campaigns in your mod folder, so the game doesn't pull the ones out of the .cat file. Then just have the .ini file have nothing in it.

 

For example, the SF2E campaign folders are named campaigne1, campaigne2, and campaigne3. Create a folder called "campaigne1", and place a file named "campaigne1.ini" inside that folder, but don't have any information in the .ini file (blank). Then go into campaigns in game and see if you have one less SF2E campaign. If so, then repeat for the other unwanted campaigns. If not... you may have to play around with it more or try something else.

 

This is the exact reason I haven't done merged installs. I'm too anal about this sort of thing.

Good idea, I will give it a try tonight. I too wish I had a seperate SF2V install, but the SF2 package that I have is last Christmas's special Combined package with the currentl SF2I Exp1 pack.

 

I will tell you that with a little bit of tinkering (i.e. adding the appropriate planes, cockpits and skins) I have been able to play the old WoV Charlie's Aces mod inside your fantastic SF2V A&G Expansion Gold mod. It really opens up both sides of the War now with a minimum amout of effort.

 

It is sort of overwhelming to go up to defend as the VPAF (4 to 8 planes) against 40 to 50 US planes flying around hunting you or striking their targets. Definately a different perspective on life.:shok:

AWESOME WORK on this enhancement! i've been flyin' it ever since it was introduced here at CA.

i set the campaign to hard,all flight characteristics to hard, and installed the AAA "INSANE" mod........just for the fireworks!

the Vietnam theatre has never been so emersive as this mod allows!

well pleased by the nail-biting,flyin' by the seat of my pants,scraping the ground, wearing the scars of a dangerous sortie!

I have a somewhat similar question concerning missing carriers, I suspect it is an install problem as well having to do with updates and patches...

 

If I fly from a carrier I have a carrier, if I am flying from an airfield (Marine Corps/Air Force) there are times where the flight I am tasked to escort, or an unrelated flight, is sitting in the South China Sea without a carrier, they may or may not get in the air thus effecting mission results...I have the CVA-63 file in my "Groundobject" file, am I missing a carrier file? Should I have another file to cover both classes of carriers?

It's not a problem with your install or a missing object. That's just the way the game is when handling AI flights off carriers sometimes. I've seen the same thing in several different mods. If you cycle through the various aircraft in a campaign mission, for example, you're bound to see some aircraft apparently without a carrier getting ready to take off. I've never known it to affect game play.

Seems that bad patch fever is spreading. The Jan 2011 Updates that I released a few days ago contained some errors -- misplaced files, missing files, etc. To correct these problems I have refreshed the Jan 2011 Updates this morning.

 

Those who downloaded the initial, buggy release of either patch can download a smaller "fix pack" here:

 

SF2V:

I really love it but i have a problem with the latest update.

Whenever i want to start a new campaign which takes places on the SouthVietnam map i get a total freeze of the game. It happens right after choosing the name of the new campaign.

Nothing works and I have to restart my pc with the reset button. I have made a complete new reinstall of the mod folder and it happens again.

What i found out so far is when i exchange the latest campaign inis of SteelTiger and Easteroffensive with the old ones it works.

So in my case there seems to a conflict with the updated campaign inis and the Southvietnam terrain.

 

I just want to know if i am the only one with this problem.

 

ahh..i forgot: i have a complete merged install up to expansion pack 2 (Dec10-B)

 

P.S. I just found out that in the campaign_data.inis of Steeltiger and Easteroffensive the basepoint values in the strategic nodes are missing.

Are they not needed anymore by the campaign engine or could this be my troublemaker?

The basepoint values should not be needed, but if that is the problem for some reason, it would just take some copy and pasting to get the values from targets.ini and put them back in the campaign files.

 

Let me try my install when I get home and see if I'm getting the same issue. When I updated the campaign files, I tested the changes and didn't get any problems, but I missed something...

I tried the new updated SF2V Steel Tiger and Easter Campaigns last night with no problems. I am guessing that it is something else in your mod that is causing the freeze.

Hi malibu43!

I could narrow down my problem i mentioned before.

I will try to make the long story short.

These are my facts:

I am running my full merged installation on Win XP and have a separate mod folder for this mod.

 

My problem is:

The campaigns Steeltiger and Easteroffensive don't work anymore since Jan11 update.

I found out that the problem is somehow in the updated and newly added strat.nodes in the corresponding data_inis.

I deleted strat.nodes 13-19.--> campaign worked. Then i added strat.node after strat.node and the campaign worked each time till i added strat.node 17 (Ia Drang Valley(West)).

--> Game froze.

 

I tried the last two nodes and they worked. So node Nr.17 is worrying me.

I looked up Ia Drang Valley (West) in the Targets.ini where it has an alignment as enemy.

I changed it to friendly and campaign worked. Back to enemy --> Freeze

...

...

so i am stucked here.

Why has the game a problem with the alignment as enemy? makes no sense to me.

The CTDs are definitely being caused by the Ia Drang Valley (West). Malibu43 made some changes to the front line, and I'm guessing that they Friendly/Enemy should be flipped in the SouthVietnam terrain for that TargetArea, as you discovered. The other solution would be to move the Ia Drang Valley (West) location so that it falls on the correct side of the front line.

 

Let me talk to Malibu43 to see what he wants to do.

Adds the F-4D LORAN, the B-26K Nimrod, a dozen or so new weapons, and includes some misc. updates. Steel Tiger & Easter Offensive campaigns have been updated to include the new aircraft.

Over the weekend I stumbled over two oddities:

 

- when selecting a USAF-ship on a single flight, I don't get the USAF-music playing (unlike USN and USMC which are working fine). I do have the USAF-sound-file in the /Menu-folder as should be...

 

- when flying with the dials in the lower left and radar in the upper right-corners on (Alt+D), the radar-screen gets some "overlay" with the canopy rails and is hard to see so "black on black" - if i remember correctly, the radar was in the foreground all the time previously, right?

 

Can you please check, if you have them just like me - someone?

Something that I noticed yesterday - not too much to worry about, because I only VERY rarely fly these models, this is just to report it...

 

The B-57B doesn't show its fuselage in the rearview mirror:

Hi, I'm flying the B-26K on the Steel Tiger campaign and am having trouble with CBU-24/B cluster bombs. When I have them selected and press the fire selected weapon key, nothing happens. I've viewed externally and nothing falls from the plane when I press it. Also I never run out of the cluster bombs no matter how many times I press the fire selected weapon key.

 

I'm running the SF2 Dec 2009 combo pack updated to June 2010, and I'm running the April 2011 update of this mod.
