Doubtfull there'd be "growth" room for replacing the radar in the nose for a photo pod (or the actual need to do so). Besides, the radar would more than likely be needed in "real life" usage for TFR, GM, search/track.

It'd be a nothing job to do ... take the pre-existing B or D model (even with the faults it has, and some ini tweeking -I have the old A working just fine in a 08 level game for Pakistan)

Take TMF's A cockpit

Adjust loadouts:

2 wingtip winder

2 wing drop tank

centerline "recon pod"

VERY limited A-G ordanance, as PrimaryMission=RECON

insert to fuselage new system names and systems for ECM and CM dispensers; ala IDF in the spine,

For NextGen games, create userslist, update RWR imaging and avionics ini, and BAM, there you go.

Decal to taste and release.

Even better, would be a dedicated WildWeasel/SEAD version - BJ/DJ; (NO comments, PLEASE! <grin>)

wingtip winders

2 HARMS

various and sundry CBU and Mavericks

Drop tanks (when have you ever seen a Falcon on Ops without them???)

aformentioned electronics tweeks and etc

Boom ... goes the SAMs

Ok, about an hour's worth of work...... F-16DJ WW VI, WoE, 08 PL, TMF 16A cockpit.

Mind you, I don't have templates for this (well, the B/D templates for the "spine" thingy)Of course, it goes without saying all new decals will be needed.

Anybody have templates for this old bird????

Does anyone know if the LANTIRN/HTS pod is mapped to anything, or if not, what's the mesh name --looked in the OUT, but couldn't figure it out (yes, pun intented). Personally, I'd choose AGM-65s over the CBUs, cause I'm a coward when it comes to killing AAA ... I want to stay out of range of them nasty pointed fanged ZSUs...

If this goes to SF2 (which I'd like), gonna need LOTS of help with the RWR stuff, as I'm more than a bit behind the curve.

Just a quick suggestion. I'd use the Recon Pod that NATO Units used on their F-104's. Some Nations had them adapted to their F-16's and should be in Download Section under Weapons here at CA.

As for the dedicated Weasel Viper they have it already its called the Block 52. Units flying that make of Viper spend the majority of their time training on SEAD with some training given to the other disciplines. Block 40/42 i believe are not HARM Targeting System compatable and focus primarily on precision strike. However even units flying the F-4G dedicated part of their training program to a2a even though the only time they were used in that capacity was escorting BUFFs on a strike against the Republican Guard late in Desert Storm.

As for the RF-16 most proposals i've ever read about involved recon pods and maybe stripping down some gear to make it lighter and faster. At least the Isrealis if not others have converted some centerline tanks into recon pods.

The RNlAF 306 Sq has been flying dedicated RF-16A's since 1984, making thousands of flying hours during operations in Kosovo and Bosnia and lately Afghanistan. Initially they were equiped with the Oldelft Orpheus pod taken over from the ®F-104G for pre- and post strike low level reconaissance. In 2000 the MARS pod for medium altitude was introduced, together with the arrival of the MLU. As all MLU variants, including the dual, are able to work with recce pods, the specialised role of 306 Sq. came to an end, also because the squadron was heavily taxed as it had to be part of just about every deployment (the other squadrons could be rotated) and now all KLu squadrons have some pilots qualified for recce missions, the interpretation etc. being centralised at Volkel AB.

Afaik the BAF and probably the RDAF also have F16 recce capabilities, both having flown Mirage V and SAAB RF 35 recce fighters respectively before the introduction of the F16

The ANG F-16s have been carrying the TARS pod for some time now. Here is a list of the units that are assigned the mission:

192nd FW Richmond, VA 149th FS

127th W Selfridge ANGB, MI 107th FS

181st FW Terre Haute, ID 113th FS

113th FW Andrews AFB,MD 121st FS

185th FW Sioux City, IA 174th FS

The pod is carried on the centerline station. I've seen it with and without the LITENING pod. But it did carry as a minimum, a pair of GBU-38/12, plus wing tanks and a pair of AIM-9s on the tip stations. It was paired with another F-16 who carried a larger bomb load and targeting pod.

The Block 40/42 were known as the F-16CG/DG and were tasked with precision strike. The Block 50/52 were the F-16CJ/DJ and had the SEAD/DEAD mission. Now, after the Common Configuration Implementation Program (CCIP) updates to Blk40-52 F-16s, they are all listed as F-16CM/DM. CCIP is very similiar to the European MLU upgrade. Color displays, Link-16, etc. One of the highlights was giving the Blk50/52 the ability to carry out precision strike, along with SEAD by allowing the HTS pod to be carried with the SNIPER/LITENING on the chin stations. The HTS was moved to the left.

So....in light of the new information... should I continue with this, or wait it out? Is TMF working on a later C/D model, with proper dual MFD cockpit?? Right now, it's using their A pit, with the single display.

Tried testing it in SF2 last night, and the f***ing game froze....have to figure out why, after getting it to work in 08 WoE first.

I know somebody made the Orpheus pod, it should be in d/l section someplace (as Gunny said)

Just an experiment, really.

Well...as I've gotten the loadouts pretty much dialed in, and halfway through decaling it...I guess I should finish it off.

I guess I could hang a couple of LGBs on it as well ...

However, it will still have the 'A' single MFD cockpit (by TMF), which I'll have to get permission to include from Bpao.

Markings and serials will be kinda fictional, but as they'll be decals, easily changed to create other squadrons. Considering it's age, it don't fly to bad in 08 levels.

Now, coverting to SF2...well, I've got some helpers in mind (they just don't know it yet!)

As far as I remember, the texture name for the LANTIRN/HTS pod on the F-16D is either lantirn or HTS_POD..

Hope this helps^^
