I am new to OFF and I have been very impressed with what I have seen so far. I have one question regarding the campaign mode which is whether it is possible to change/transfer to another squadron once the campaign is started?

Thanks

Welcome to the OFF skies Dan, you're the third fellow I've welcomed this morning, I'm starting to feel like a greeter at church. smile.gif

To answer your question: Yes, it can be done, but you will have to do a bit of cut-and-paste in your Pilot"x"Dossier file, (where "x" is the number of the active pilot you which to transfer). If you want to try that I'm sure we can walk you through it. However, if you're at all skittish about digging into the game files, you may be more comfortable continuing on in your present squad for the time being.

BTW, new lads buy the drinks, (third time I've said that this morning too...good thing it's a holiday).

Cheers!

Unless you do it manually as described above - no transfers in P3.

There are transfers in P4.

Cool Beans!

How soon will we be able to transfer in OFF?

The manual transfer method seems to work quite well in P3. I've been doing it for a long time now without any problems. But yeah, it's not official, so if something does go wrong, you can't blame the devs.

And now I'm even more anxious to get my hands on P4!

Will depend on location, how good you are, your rank and what your CO thinks... no more to say :-)

Welcome to OFF, Dan! All you have to change is the third line in your pilot's dossier.

If your pilot is Pilot No. 1, his dossier will be that for pilot no. 2 (always one higher).

You find the dossier here:

(your game folder) > campaigns > CampaignData > Pilots

Change the third line from the old to the new squadron. That's all.

You'll keep all hours, medals etc.

But make sure to get it right - have a look, how the new squad has to be written.

If you write it wrong, it won't work.

But like in Lotto - no guaranties! (Best is to back up the pilots files first by copying

them into another location).

Oh, and please send me a PM with your town and country/state - I'll add you to our

OFF Forum Pilots Maps.

That's all great news but I was wondering if we'd be transferring by saaay ...July/August 2010? grin.gif

I hope that in P4 it will be possible to enlist first in a 2-seater squadron and then later as you become a successful pilot, get the option to transfer to a fighter squadron if you so like. I do this all the time manually in P3, but it would be REALLY great if it was officially possible in the P4 transfer system. It would also be historically accurate - many famous aces first flew bomber and recon planes before becoming fighter pilots.

Let's just say, P4 will be released some day... - and that Pol is a teaser!

(But we forgive him, when he builds us a Morane Parasol!)
