Wodin 0 Posted January 25, 2011 My SE5a 56 Sqd pilot made Ace today....he has 18 kills out of 29 claims.....top of the Duty board with Ace written instead of Airman. He has flown 16 hours so I'm nearly at the 17 hour mark. He has had the same wingman all the way and has one stint in hospital due a minor crash landing. He also has three DFC...I think you get one after every five kills....hope this changes as it is a tad unrealistic...the MC would be nice instead of constant DFC. Hasse Wind 46 Posted January 25, 2011 Yes, the awards system will be completely new in P4. What little I've seen and heard of it (thanks to Paarma), it seems to be developing into one of the most realistic awards systems in any sim, ever.

Olham 164 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Congrats, Wodin! Especially about the wingmen still all being alive. I can only hope you won't have bad luck from now on - some pilots here, me incl., have noticed, that short after showing their records, the pilot fell. I wish you better luck! Creaghorn 10 Posted January 25, 2011 Well this is my sith pilot over the last couple of weeks that has nearly hit the 17 hour mark...all have gone down just short. http://combatace.com/topic/44640-awards-system/page__hl__paarma here is the link to an older thread which reveals a little glimps to the new award system. you have a sith pilot? there are always two of them. a master and an apprentice. which one is your pilot? Olham 164 Posted January 25, 2011 Oh, great that you still knew the link to that, Creaghorn - I hadn't really seen it then. Thank you! Man, that is sure looking fine!!!

RAF_Louvert 101 Posted January 25, 2011 . What did the German gas bag say to the top American balloon buster in 1918? "Luke...Luke...I am your fodder." ...hee hee hee... But seriously Wodin, well done on your newfound status Sir. Fresh aces buy the drinks! .

+elephant 36 Posted January 25, 2011 I was declared an ace I think after my 10th confirmed kill and the second generic "iron cross" I got... or I may be wrong and it was the 15th? I dont remember... Anyway, after a virtual year, (yes I know "pilot never dies", but please spare me I'm just a newbie), I got 30 confirmed kills and a new medal to wear in parades. I have changed the default German medals pictures with my own ones from Pat Wilson's RoF Campaign... I want to correct that "iron cross" thing while waiting for Phase 4... Anybody knows what file I have to edit to do so... I searched The CampaignData files and subfolders with no luck so far... The way the medals should have been in the first place...(Photoshoped... )
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted January 25, 2011 . Yuppers, I've done the same thing myself Elephant, though I used images from another source. You need only go into the "medals" folder and change the name of the image to have it read correctly in the sim display. .
+elephant 36 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Wow, that's an easy one! Thanks! Consider it done... PS: I'm afraid it didn't work...I did it and got an error message, (medals are missing, reinstall OFF),that's because I don't want just to rename the medal but to add a new one as well...(Iron Cross 1st Class). There must be some kind of text somewhere, with the awards and their order of appearance...something like: Medal#1...Iron Cross Medal#2...Iron Cross Medal#3...Royal Hohenzollern House Order Medal#4...Orden Pour le Merite Medal#5...Red Eagle Order Edited January 25, 2011 by elephant

Apologies Elephant, you actually want to copy and paste the medals whose names you want to change so that the original is still there for the sim to recognize. Then you rename the new ones. Also you will need to change the medal names in your pilot dossier file in the "pilots" folder to match the new medal names in the "medals" folder you are wanting to have shown. And, you can add new medal images to the "medals" folder and then switch those for ones already awarded to you as well, (just make sure your new medal image is the same size as the stock ones in the sim). I did this for my current pilot Paul Blum when he was awarded the Goldenes Militär-Verdienstkreuz. . Edited January 25, 2011 by RAF_Louvert
+elephant 36 Posted January 25, 2011 Thanks Lou, but I'm afraid you didn't understand me again... I don't want to just rename the existing medals... In German Campaign you get the same medal twice...a generic: "Iron Cross". The historically correct order is "Iron Cross 2nd Class" and "Iron Cross 1st Class". Meaning, there is a brand new medal to be established. Look again at the pics above... the problem is not the name...(the default "Iron Cross" has to be split in two classes-medals)! So I say that, somewhere in game, there must be some kind of text denoting the medals sequence. Understood?
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted January 25, 2011 . Yes Elephant, I do understand what you are getting at. You wish to get into the actual coding of the sim and tweak it, and that I cannot help you with. However, what I am saying you can do is simply add the new images you wish to use: EK2c, EK1c, etc. Then, once you are awarded medals by the sim you can go in and simply change the text on the appropriate lines of your pilots dossier file and, "Voilà !", you will see the new medal images along with their proper names. Like this, for example: .
Wodin 0 Posted January 25, 2011 If things can't be improved then Phase 4 would be pointless....the campaign should keep track of aces killed...even if it's just the ones you kill....I'm not interested in wining I just want some consistency whilst playing a campaign...if it's a sim then seeing an ace go down in flames one day then fighting him again three days later seems a little odd. I feel it's an area for improvementBit of a contradiction no ! . 0 Whats a contradiction? I see no contradiction in anyway at all....I never said it wouldn't be improved and then said it would...your not making sense old chap.
jwrich 0 Posted January 26, 2011 Question for RAF_LOUVERT; #20, How did you copy the log book screen? I have saved some screen shots but I can't save/copy the log book page. Thanks Rich
+elephant 36 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) You press your keyboard's PrtSc (PrintScreen) button, NOT ! the button you have assigned for screenshots in Game, by default: (Control+;), as you will get a black picture as I first did. You exit Game, (Alt+Tab), open a painting program, MS Paint that should be by default in your computer will do. Paste and here you are. Olham 164 Posted January 26, 2011 It does work in Win7, jwrich - it does. Follow this exactly: 1. To take the pic from the ingame Log, press "Print Screen / Prt Scr" (orange dart in my pic). 2. Exit the sim, and open PAINT. 3. Make "New File" - you should now get an empty file with the res of your monitor screen 4. Press Ctr. + V (for: insert) - you should now see your log
jwrich 0 Posted January 26, 2011 Thanks Olham, I did get it to work. I had XP operating system for a very long time and 7 is still new to me. Thanks again By the way, I was stationed at Bittburg Air Base Germany at 1981 to 1985. Those were the best years of my Air Force career, beautiful country, very nice people and I loved the food & beer. I traveled Germany and Europe a lot.
