The biggest Thank You went for my friend Roland, who also made good choices, and built the rig. I had promised to send some "porn" from my new rig, so here it is - naked! Mmuahahahahahaaaaaa!!!! Running the sim plus TrackIR fine! CPU: Intel i5 QuadCore (2500k) CPU cooler: CORSAIR Hydro H50 water cooling Mobo: ASUS P8P67 (Revision B3) Memory: 4 GB GSKILL DDR3 The graphic card is still the ATI HD4870 (1 GB), which seems enough for my 1680 x 1050 monitor. Didn't realize the bride was peeking over my shoulder while I was looking at that very candid and scintillating picture you chose to share with us. She did ask me to remind you that size really doesn't matter at all. It's not about the dimensions of your equipment. It's more about how far you can push your overclock and how long it'll last before becoming unstable. Can't tell you how pleased we are to see your new rig up, running and looking sharp as hell!! I figure now that we're all comfortable enough with eachother to share these most intimate images of our private lives, here's a little bit of porn just for you: I know, I know.......ridiculously expensive, but it is Easter after all. The bride offered me a choice between this and a chocolate bunny. It was a no-brainer to choose the item that comes with pretty green LED lights all over it And yes, I know.....I need to get some degreaser and clean up the side of that kitchen counter. Didn't even notice that crap until I looked at this picture. Must have been the flash that illuminated it so nicely....lol. The bride is actually a pretty good housekeeper.....really she is (Paulo.....those coolers are allegedly s'posed to be "nearly evaporation free". Panama Red 22 Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) These new water cooled systems are SEALED systems, warrentied for at lease 50,000 hours. Astek originally came out with this system about 4 years ago, and now several other manufactures have jumped in to make them too. Having owned the older water cooled systems before, this is so much better in that it is a simple "plug and play" without ever having to worry about leaks, liquid evaporation or liquid replacement over time. The other nice things are that it cools as well as any top end air cooler (and usually better), easy to install (unlike some of the newer large air coolers), and is quiter on the ears. Having an absolute BLAST with it, but might I be so bold as to say it's not for your average gamer who just wants to jump in an aircraft and shoot things. You can dummy down the settings to "boot-stupid", but at that point you're just depriving yourself of a pretty tough challenge and rich learning experience. What would be the point?? It's a brilliant sim all round nevertheless. The Theater of Operations may be somewhat limited, and I keep hearing people say they wish there was a dynamic campaign. The fact is, a reasonably talented mission-maker could put together a pretty entertaining campaign in a fairly short time. It may not be completely dynamic in nature, but if you utilize the available triggers and a bit of imagination, you can certainly make up for that shortcoming. There's also a pretty brillian quick mission generator that will keep things fresh, particularly when you can take the generated mission and tweak it to your heart's content for either mult-player or offline use. The flight model is nothing short of superb. The damage modelling is in the same class. The scenery is really eye-catching, and the overall environment is about as immersive as you could hope for. That's just my humble opinion of course, but all we do online when we're not busy painting a target with a laser, launching a Maverick at somebody or tearing the living shyt out of something with the GAU-8, is rave about what a fantastic product it is. These guys are pretty discerning chaps and have been simming for years. I don't think we could all be that dreadfully wrong with our appraisals. In fact, I think we're almost ready to come out of the closet as one little happy group of Hawg Jocks. Let the neighbors say what they will. We really don't care...lol. Regardless of how much I enjoy A-10, I'll still keep coming back to OFF for my WWI fix. Now if only the guys at 1C would hurry up and fix some of the rather annoying issues and shortcomings with Cliffs of Dover, I do believe I will have died and gone to Combat Flightsimming Heaven. Not at all, Olham. Your Franglish is perfect. It's my Germlish that's lacking. Oddly enough, it's my Frigidaire that keeps things hot and I have a Samsung that keeps things cold. Olham 164 Posted April 23, 2011 Since it is a "K" model and you have water cooling, have you overclocked it yet ??? Not yet; wasn't necessary so far. But the motherboard's EFI-BIOS makes overclocking rather easy, it seems. There is a "preset" button to overclcok my CPU to a safe 3.7 GHz, which I may try out soon. The more advanced overclocking would still be easy - you can see all values, and as long as I don't raise any voltages, it should be okay. But first, I will try the "preset" way.
