Javigato Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I think we need a press conference from the field commander for a debrief of the current situation and operations as well as targets destroyed, video and casualties :) Quote
EricJ Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 The jet. Was only a flesh wound... got shaken up pretty bad though... frakkin J-10! And yes indeed Florian! But yeah a couple days is good but the war must go on though... Quote
EricJ Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Mission: SEAD Suppression against Bushehr Aircraft: NE100 (Raid Commander) NE103,NE104,NE105,NE106 (SEAD Aircraft) NE100 took off after 0200Z, acting as raid commander aircraft (SEAD Aircraft left approximately 0200Z) and also overwatch of SEAD flight. After hitting the IP NE103 engaged one CWAR at Kharg Island destroying it. The remainder of the aircraft destroyed targets around Bushehr Airport and Bushehr, effectively eliminating any threat to Strike Package. NOTE: Mission was run from NE100 so all kills are attributable to SEAD flight, clean pylons on return. Quote
Slartibartfast Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Was planning a mission to Bushehr tomorrow am... SEAD with Strike. Looks like I can go strike all the way... Quote
EricJ Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Mission: Dezful Rocket Battery Recon mission Aircraft: NE110 NE110 departed Ali Al Salem to recon reported Scud launch areas. Enroute to Dezful NE110 encountered two F-5Fs heading west. NE110 fired a total of three AIM-120Cs, missing with one but the other two shot down the two aircraft. After that NE110 landed safely. While Dezful is out of the VFA-2's killbox the CAG felt that keeping tabs on what could be a possible threat sanctioned this recon mission. He is working on more target planning in designated killbox but needed in his words, "Something different". Quote
+dtmdragon Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 (edited) Unit: No. 1 Squadron Royal Australian Airforce Mission: Strike against Doshan Tappeh AB (TAB12) Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (RAAF F/A-18F) and 6 x Escort/SEAD (RAAF F/A-18F) Target: Runway Flight departed Kuwait International at 0641 Local time. Flight approached the target from the east. 4x AGM-145C-1 JSOW were launched at the runway from maximum range and destroyed the runway. The strike element then conducted SEAD around the air base. 2x Iranian F-5A Freedom Fighters were detected to the north by the flight leader and escorting section. Both F-5A fighters were quickly engaged and destroyed. Immediately after the destruction of the two F-5A 4x F-14A Tomcats engaged the entire flight by surprise in what become a large furball. SAM sites around the airbase took also this opportunity to turn on thier radars and engage us with radar and heat seeking surface to air missiles. The exact sequence of events is somewhat lost in the confustion but the superior manouverability and weapons of the Super Hornets gave us the edge and resulted in the four F-14A Tomcats being destroyed with no losses. However this was by no means an easy victory both sides launched a multitude of air-to-air missiles and engaged each other with cannon fire at very close range during the dog fight. During the SEAD 1x Hawk CWAR, 5x Tor-M1 SAM lauchers, 3x ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA vehicles were destroyed. During a straifing attack which destroyed 1x Saeqeh(“thunderbolt”) Fighter F/A-18F Block II Super Hornet A44-202 was hit and damaged by a MIM-23A Hawk SAM. Air-to-Ground Kills: -Runway by Plt Off McCarthy with 2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW and Plt Off Fry with 2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW -Hawk CWAR by Plt Off McCarthy with 1x GBU-38(V)3/B JDAM -Tor-M1 by Plt Off McCarthy with 1x GBU-12E/B Paveway IV -Saeqeh(“thunderbolt”) Fighter by Plt Off McCarthy with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon -Tor-M1 by Plt Off Fry with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon -Tor-M1 by Plt Off Fry with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon -ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA by Plt Off Cobby with 1x GBU-38(V)3/B JDAM -Tor-M1 by Plt Off Cobby with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon -Tor-M1 by Plt Off Cobby with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon -ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA by Flt Lt Williamson with 1x GBU-38(V)3/B JDAM -ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA by Plt Off Dalas with 1x GBU-12E/B Paveway IV Ait-to-Air Kills: -F-5A Freedom Fighter by Plt Off McCarthy with 1x AIM-120C7 -F-5A Freedom Fighter by Plt Off McCarthy with 1x AIM-9X -F-14A Tomcat by Plt OffCobby with 1x AIM-120C7 -F-14A Tomcat by Flt Lt Williamson with 1x AIM-120C7 -F-14A Tomcat by Flt Lt Williamson with 1x AIM-9X -F-14A Tomcat by Plt Off Fry with 1x AIM-120C7 Damge/Loses: -F/A-18F Block II Super Hornet A44-202 was hit lost an engine to a MIM-23A Hawk SAM. Aircraft made it back to Kuwait International safly but will require a entirely new engine. Spare engine will leave Australia via a RAAF C-17 in the next 12 hours. Intell: -No less than 7x MIM-23A Hawk SAMs fired during our attack all but 1 were defeated with ECM, chaff and spoofing/ manovering. -No less than 52x SA-15 Gauntlet SAMs were fired from Tor-M1 launchers during our attack, as with previous engagements all were easily defeated with ECM, chaff and spoofing/ manovering. -The amount of air defence represents a high threat that should be followed up on with further SEAD operations. EricJ Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Mission: Karun Bridge Strike Aircraft: 1 x F/A-18F (NE107) At the local request of a coalition ground commander NE107 was dispatched to destroy the Karun bridge in order to prevent reinforcements from threatening the border. NE107 departed Ali Al Salem at 1000 local hours. NE107 detected and was preparing to engage two F-4E Phantoms when they were destroyed by coalition air defenses. NE107 dropped both of its GBU-12s and returned without any incident. Quote
EricJ Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Mission: Bushehr AD Battery 3 SEAD Strike Aircraft: NE100 and NE104, NE103 and NE110 Original mission intent was to destroy the AD Battery at Bushehr. Mission was accomplished with NE103 firing one HARM, destroying the HIPAR radar and one ZSU-23-4 with his cannon. However after that shot the AD Battery around Kharg Island locked up the flight, forcing the four aircraft to prioritize their tasking. After that only two ZSU-23-4s remained on Kharg Island due to the commanders repeatedly saying they surrendered over the common radio frequencies and after ordered by the CAG all aircraft returned unharmed. NOTE: It should be noted after that things got a little out of control so Kharg Island SAM/AAA is gone whilst I think the remaining two AAA systems will be "destroyed" since they surrendered and they really have no hope of survival. Suffice to say Kharg Island is pacified of any direct threats to aircraft. Quote
DoctorWho Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Mission: Strike on oil refinery in Haft Gel Oil Fields Aircraft: 1 x F-22A (Strike) + 2 x F-22A (Escort) Flight departed King Abdulaziz AB at 0743 heading to Haft Gel Oil Fields. Circa 12nm from target two enemy flights were noticed on radar. Escort aircraft were ordered to engage air while the leader continued towards the target and dropped a GBU-32 JDAM. target was hit and destroyed. Then one of the enemy flights (4 x J-10A) approached our flight and a close combat begun. Three J-10s were shot down. One of our raptors crashed due to an engine failure and the second one was shot down by a J-10. Some time later two enemy F-14As approached and attacked the leader of formation. One of the Tomcats was shot down with M61A1 cannon. The second one and the last J-10 broke out from the combat and escaped. No SAMs were fired. The leader's aircraft returned to base succesfully. 2Lt Kirk was saved after 0200 hrs by a CSAR chopper. We still don't know what happened to 2Lt Griffin so he is listed as MIA. http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21734-strikefighters2-israel-2011-11-20-16-05-13-37/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21735-img00002/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21736-img00004/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21737-img00007/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21738-img00009/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21739-img00011/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21740-img00013/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21741-img00016/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21742-img00017/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21743-img00018/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21744-img00019/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21757-img00023/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21758-img00024/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21759-img00025/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21760-img00026/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21761-img00027/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21762-img00028/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/21763-img00029/ Quote
DWCAce Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Performed an AOR FAMFLIGHT in an F-15E on loan from Mountain Home AFB. Pretty sure nothing I did counts since I'm not assigned anywhere. Was good to check out the scenery though. Quote
EricJ Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Mission: Bridge Strike against Helah Aircraft: 2 x F/A-18E NE203 and NE207 left for Helah heading east. They encountered no enemy aircraft and the bridge was destroyed with one GBU-31. However when returning to Ali Al Salem NE207 was fired on by a HAWK Battery (Bushehr AD Battery 3) and was not damaged. NE203 did attack the site with it's remaining GBU-31, destroying a launcher. Both aircraft returned safely. Quote
EricJ Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Mission: Maintenance/Reconnaissance Flight over Kharg Island Aircraft: NE101 NE101 departed Ali Al Salem, both to verify maintenance was complete and also to check on Iranian forces on Kharg Island. The aircraft returned safely but some adjustment to the reaction of the stabilizer is needed but aircraft is still fully mission capable. Nothing significant reported/observed at Kharg Island. Quote
DWCAce Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Is there an updated target.ini that I should be using? Quote
EricJ Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I guess but I spent some time just going through the AARs and modding the IR_Targets.ini to reflect the strikes. Quote
