talk about behind the curve...

Hawaii and Japan (well, southern half the Home Islands, Korea and Ryukus) have been terrains for about 5 years ... look in the SF1/Terrains downloads section.

be interesting, though ... but methinks a LOT more difficult, as this terrain will be LOD driven. Can't wait to study it!

well, a new version for OTC would be fantastic hehe

i meant Hawaii and japan maps with the new Terrain Engine, since its mostly water around them (if you set them up right), we can go ballistic with Terrain Details and objects the same way T10 did with Iceland.

also, i do believe TK said somewhere that TODs are gone, everything is LOD now (in one of his "we got so much to do and so little time/money speeches, he mentioned re-doing all the TODs into LODs.)

Well' date=' TODs aren't really meant for complex objects - all the TOD objects on one single tile are rendered as a one big object, so having more complex shape you can run out of polys and run into other problems like sorting issues, etc. So its best to use target placement objects for more complex shape. [b']New terrain engine has no TOD, everything is placed in max.

Which Means the Terrain is prolly Done in MAX too. One less tool to deal with and code, just use max for everything.

guys, could someone with the knowledge (=everyone but me apparently) name all the ships we have in the new 3 shots?

Posted

All you need is legit max

which is the free student 30 days copy... then you have HDD fail after that time and need to reinstall  works for me

looks like higher resolution STRM to me, perhaps imported as grayscale bitmap :dntknw: there are various (free) programs to output DEM/STRM data as bitmaps

FFG7, first of class frigate, Oliver Hazard Perry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Oliver_Hazard_Perry_%28FFG-7%29

Seems like it just let off an SM-1 missile and its gun is trained to incoming aircraft.

DD-974, Spruance Class DD, Comte de Grasse. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Comte_de_Grasse_%28DD-974%29

This seems to be the first model, without the ABL(Armored Box Launcher) used for Tomahawks.

Definitely some kind of LHA.

Posted

I would hazard a guess that the LHA is a Tarawa class ship as the Wasp Class did not come into the time frame until 1989 for Wasp and the others of class followed later...

I wonder it the A-7E will be flyable? My bet is yes, for some ground pounding, the existing model is already very good cockpit wise

Stary turned to stone at the mere sight of four cats?

I wonder if that wings folded GProwler behind the 4 Tomcats will follow them
