What value is MaxFuelAmount= indicating?

Gallons? Lbs? Liters?

in the F-100D Data.ini it's default value is = [FwdFuelCell]

SystemType=FUEL_TANK

FuelTankID=1

MaxFuelAmount=1320.9

SelfHealing=FALSE

FireSuppression=TRUE

MinExtentPosition=-0.69, 0.75,-0.93

MaxExtentPosition= 0.69, 2.67, 0.36

might be liters or lbs.. as a 275 tank is like 1040 Liters

kilograms

everything in the 3rdWire series be metric

that explains alot, I think..

Yeah, it's definitely kilograms. As Kevin said, everything in this series is metric and when it comes to loading an aircraft you're interested in weight not volume. This also avoids the specific gravity conversions.

per wiki (Im sure I have a real book around here somwhere...but this is quicker)

"Avgas has a density of 6.02 lb/U.S. gal at 15 °C, or 0.721 kg/l"

Of course the density would vary depending on the time of year, altitude, and temperature of the enviroment which the measurement was being taken.

The above is "Standard" starting point.

if this is true and we are metric, then the notation MaxFuelAmount=1320.9 for the F-100D fwdFuelCell is:

952.37 Liters of fuel (or 251.62 U.S. Gal)

:ok:

I can't check it, because this is just the forward fuel cell.

I knew someone would show up with something like that! RTFM, eh?

Can you confirm or DIS-Confirm, my calculations?

Thanks!

Keeping it simple, 1321 kg = 2906 lbs. The accepted "standard" weight for JP-4 is 6.75 lb per US gallon. Thus 6.75/2906 = 430.5 gallons.

There are three fuselage tanks in an F-100, and two wing tanks. The forward fuselage tank wraps around the powerplant's intake tunnel, and is divided into center, upper, and lower cells. The center, or intermediate tank (the smallest of the three) lives underneath the powerplant's intake tunnel. The aft tank is slightly larger than the intermediate, and also wraps around the intake tunnel.

Thanks for the update.

I had to give the Virtual NE Texas Blackberry "Wine" to Virtual Welder.

He keeps babbling about gunpods...we're looking into it.

:salute:
