Right now I call it my RISK euro map, as each country has one city and one airbase.

But I am on business trip next couple of weeks, could probably find time to knock it into shape for beta release.

Targetising the whole damn thing will be hell, though

you ain't lying, brother!!

of course, one could just use my Patent Pending set of Generic Target Buildings ™: Every city gets at least one of each:

Generator

Building1 (as 'Admin Building')

Building2 (as 'Ops Building')

CityBuilding3 (as 'telephone/telegraph office'*)

warehouse (just a couple scattered around)

HQ building (well, depending if you don't use...)

GovtBldg (repurposed CityBuilding1)

Fire department

watertower

and of course, the Star of Every Terrain Targets Ini....

The EvildamnCommBuilding!!!!

*=which is a type of Comm_Building! Oh! the Humanity!!

For Extra Credit: what with Europe having bunches and lots of rivers ... there's all them damn bridges!!

edit: just for grins and giggles, Gepards BoB terrain contains MANY landmark buildings ... Arc de Triumph, Tower of London and other buildings from all over Europe. The Effiel Tower seems to cause CTDs for some reason, though...

THe problem of the map, which Baltika shows is, that it is warped. Especially the british islands and France.

The West East distances are to short. Germany is much to small at this map.

And finally, if you make such big maps, you cant get the desity of target areas which are neccessary for central europe. You will fly over a big emptiness where in reality are a lot of targets.

Yes, I agree, it is the old problem with the SF terrain engine projecting a 3D globe onto a flat surface - the bigger the map, the more distortion you get of distances. Map-makers have been struggling with this problem ever since we discovered the earth wasn't actually flat.

And target density all across this big a map will be a problem.

Perhaps, for this campaign idea, a smaller, more focuseed map area would suit better?

The problem is we get into duplication of effort with lots of smaller maps covering a lot of nearly the same ground.

What is the real focus area for this campaign idea?

A terrain like this?

1.500 x 1.500 km in nearly real scale and dewarped (hope this is the correct english term)
