+ianh755 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Those fixes look really good so I've updated but what new stuff will we find broken? (Please be none!!!) Not tried the new Extractor yet but here's hoping it's unlocked a bit more for the modders here. Quote
+Stary Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) funny checked TW page hour ago (usualstuff when drinking morning coffe) and I missed this... again off to try what this breaks edit: I'm 100% sure this list of updated files isn't complete, as some fixes (map, disappearing HUD) requires changes in other files Edited April 3, 2012 by Stary Quote
+JonathanRL Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Well, it breaks current modded installs. No suprise there. Quote
+WhiteBoySamurai Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 It also breaks the extactors. ಠ_ಠ Really, for such a relatively tiny update? The things I was looking forward to the most weren't fixed: The mission editor has not been updated to support naval groups and ship numbers yet. And the bug where you get a dozen of the same ship in the same spot if you enter the editor? Well, now you only get one single ship (usually the carrier). The rest of the task force just doesn't show up. At least that's what's happening on my install. Quote
+Stary Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Well, it breaks current modded installs. No suprise there. do as I say in chat window then Quote
SFP1Ace Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Now F-14 displays rwr rings when radar is off! Edited April 3, 2012 by SFP1Ace Quote
squid Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) any new files back to unlocked maybe by the new extractor ? ... Edited April 3, 2012 by squid Quote
+JonathanRL Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) I have yet to take a deeper look at the updated files, but it seems like off the bat; the issues I had with teleporting task forces and anti-ship missions (the vanilla ones) being unavalible in SF2: NA based campaigns is not fixed. EDIT: New Command: MinFleetSpeed=10.289 I wonder if that works with "Max" as well. Edited April 3, 2012 by JonathanRL Quote

There's new extractors available but even with the new Apr '12 Mission Editor I just re-downloaded I get the same issue as you. Just one ship (carrier) nothing else and still can't have an overland strike mission with the editor. Dag nabit! Quote
+paulopanz Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 The SF-2NA campaign is fixed: you can use A-7 and even A-6 ..... but as far I could see in few time: - No more parked planes on all CVs - my edited and before this well working beloved Albion/Bulwark & C. have some big take new take off issues Quote
+Brain32 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 any new files back to unlocked maybe by the new extractor ? ... Nope, shader files (.FX) still locked because God forbid we create some mods right? 2 Quote

+Swordsman422 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Modded-to-flyables get broken with every patch. I just keep a copy of the aircraft.ini backed-up eslewhere to copy over. No big deal. I'm still getting populated carriers just fine. I haven't had time to see if he fixed the fleet movements issue in the NA campaign. Quote

I dunno why people bitch so much about breaking stuff, it's really 3 minutes work to restore whole mods or individual planes, as for flyables, directory like _stock_NA_planes in aircraft folder with everything one want's to keep copied into, makes restoring mods after patch matter of overwriting files Quote
+Brain32 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I don't even overwrite anything. I just rename the mod folder, for example: _Europe press F2 copy rename to say _EuropeXXX create new folder paste it Start game then exit delete the newly created folder rename _EuropeXXX back to _Europe Done. about 60 sec of work in total Quote
+PureBlue Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Similar to what I do Brain, to the point of adding XXX But you don't even have to copy the mod folder. Once you rename it, the game won't touch it. Everytime a patch/DLC/new game is installed, rename Mod folder, run game exe, rename back. takes only a minute. Edited April 3, 2012 by PureBlue Quote
SFP1Ace Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Unless patch fixes wrong entries in aircraft.ini files. Restoring whole folder back (indiscriminately) is not always a good idea, imo! Edited April 3, 2012 by SFP1Ace Quote

I meant copy the folder name(thus F2(rename function) and then copy) so you don't have to type it, yes I'm that lazy Quote
stingray77 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Hum - yes, but how to determine then if sth. that didn't work before might have been fixed by the patch - but is overruled by some mod copied back into the game??? Quote
garyscott Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Seems ok, SF2 Maverick zoom now as it should be (thank you god!), new effects (not too sure i like the missile trails . . .), enemy pilots hit the silk just before they either pile in, or explode, speaking of explode - the destroyed aircraft now explodes in a shower of sparks as well as aircraft parts (i can vouch for the authenticity of that effect . . i have been witness to an aircraft being "re-kitted", never forget it! ), flame trails are a little too contrasty, but hey-ho! AI now seems a little more bloodthirsty (or i was just not "in the zone"), and the vortice trails by gun rounds are a little heavy. Looking forward to what other changes i notice. As a sideline, some of my terrains now cause a CTD, whereas others are fine. . . . . . hmmm. Edited April 3, 2012 by garyscott Quote

This should be an Adjustment in Every Aircraft Pit or Avionics File?? * Cockpit HUD disappearing at final waypoint is fixed. No Clue what would need updated, map or plane or parking engine?? * Parked aircraft not sitting at correct angle on land airfield is fixed. Some of these changes required other files to be modified, but as TK stated on his boards, he has a detailed list of whats changed, but if he dont think its something we need to know he doesnt include it in the readme file. Particle System.ini has a different CRC and datestamp. Edited April 3, 2012 by SkateZilla Quote

Just one ship (carrier) nothing else and still can't have an overland strike mission with the editor. Dag nabit! Ian Here is the work around, start a random single mssion. Make sure you start with a carrier based plane. Run the mission for about 30 seconds then exit out, save the file. Wham, instant surface group that you didnt have to make your self. Edit as you like.
