Mig-31BM Mini Update Pack

Out of 3 Mig 31 models available in CA (not sure why Mig-31A got removed...) Mig 31BM has the oldest model dated back to 2008, which has problem casting shadows and is over-polygoned.

 

This package contains models changed late 2010 with multiple level of details and correct shadow casting. So that you can finally ditch the SHD file.

You will need to download & install Mig31m/bm pack from Brain32, then update with this mini pack. Find Brain32's file here

Back from deployment and got into this aircraft.  Has this data.ini been updated anymore by anyone other than the above data.ini?  I added the BM package and then added this data pack.

-No changes to the FM.  No knowledge in that field.

-Modified the Min Max points to modify the hit boxes.  When I opened it in Lod Viewer, the HBs appeared to be from maybe an F-5?  New boxes as per attachment.

-The ailerons move the same, fixed the right one.  So now they move as they should.

-Moved the pilot ahead a bit.  Have to get seats for those dudes.  Kinda looked like lowriders when I started.

-Called out the afterburnernodename to the model declared one so the tga isn't visable all of the time.

-Added the HBs for the VertTail1 and 2 for the fuel tanks and added the fueltanks in the wings and HBs.  Found out in research that the fuselage setup was correct but evened out the fuel qualities for the added wing tanks.

-Wingtip vorticies moved.

Thanks.  Good to be home again.

- I'll have a look at that but I figured that the inis would have already been sorted out.  I'm using it in an interceptor role mostly.  I have it loading 4 x R-77 and 4 x R-33 missiles.  That's what came with it.

- My HUD /  ini was messed up.  Professional help from Germany fixed it in 30 secs.  HUD material was missing in the ini.

-The leading edge issue is related to the model.  The animation for the nozzles is 8.  The animation set in the model for slot 8 is the leading edge flaps.  As per the data.ini, the only way I know how to fix it is by removing that animation callout and nothing should move that way.  Need a modeller with access to the model to fix it.

- Lights are moved.  I could only find ref to wingtips, landing / taxi  and one tail light in images and the ref that I'm using. (FRA Mikoyan MiG-31 by Yefim Gordon)

- So through the LOD Viewer (such a wonderful tool)  the MiG31BM skin, can't be repainted?  The other skin that is with the MiG31M is in the folder but not being used.

The inis with the fixes.  Made some RuAF stars and markings last night.  I'll keep  picking away at it.  Back your own files up before you use these cause if you break it, there isn't any warranty.

Continue to tinker.

I missed the pylons.  A couple were on the wrong sides.  I wondered why they didn't come off.

Really like all you are doing @10107 but have some feedback for you:

 

#1. Please release your decals file/files.  They are really nice.

#2. I just read the most recent Air Forces Monthly that had a piece on the Russian Naval Aviation MiG-31s based in Kamchatka.  They are still using the AA-6D IR missiles on the wings and the AA-9 Radar missiles under the jet - no R-77s.   You can get the AA-6D from the MiG-25P-PD-PDS-PDX 2.0 pak by @paulopanz.

#3. The Russian Naval Aviation MiG-31s pictured used exclusively blue nose decals for numbers.

#4. For my Nihon Hitori campaign at the least going to incorporate #2.

I am having some real problems though in grafting the AA-6Ds onto the MiG-31BM.  First, here's why this effort from the latest Air Forces Monthly:

Third, even though the weapon is clearly programmed into the MiG-31BM I never get it:

Means

The wing station must have the same line to be able to load the missile.

Or both station and missile must be without the code.

Inthe loadout ini, some headers are not valid

[NavalAviationIntercept]
 

[NavalAviationInterceptLongRange]

 

To use custom headers, you must add some definition lines

e.g.

[NavalAviationIntercept]

Nation=SOVIET (if other than as set in data ini or specific export loadout)

StartDefaultDate=M/D/Y  format, to make the specific loadut start from a set date

DefaultFor=INTERCEPT  (( CAP, SWEEP,ESCORT )) to define the mission types this loadout is used with

OK, here's what I did:

  1. Removed the specific station code.  It's really unnecessary as for the sake of the mission pak, I will be programming in specific ordnance loads for the Russian jets.  If I do a Russian side of the story, maybe I'll regret that decision.
  2. Changed the NavalAviationIntercept to something shorter with a bit more data:

Yes, and to check I noticed I didn't add some time to the ServiceEndYear.  You probably should change the ServiceEndYear to 2035 if not 2040.  Yours right now is at 2020.
