Dysko Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I've been 3 days at Leeuwarden air base, in the Netherlands, to take photos at Frisian Flag 2014, an exercise which simulates Combined Air Operations. Every day there were 2 missions, with 40 airplanes each! The Royal Netherlands Air Force used F-16s, both based in Leeuwarden and deployed from Volkel. There was a Dutch C-130 too, equipped with ECM pods. The RNLAF also provided SAR support with AB.412s. Other participants: Spanish Air Force Typhoons Portuguese Air Force F-16s Finnish Air Force F-18s Royal Danish Air Force F-16s Royal Norwegian Air Force F-16s, 2 of which were painted with special tails for the Tiger Meets Belgian Air Component F-16s German Luftwaffe Typhoons In Leeuwarden there was also a civilan Dassault Falcon 20 used as an electronic training simulator, which replaced an ECM Royal Norwegian Air Force Dassault 20. Unfortunately, the only time it flew when I was there, I missed it. Other participants were tankers from Italy (KC-767), Germany (A310 MRTT) and the Netherlands (KDC-10) deployed at Eindhoven (from where they also participated to European Air Refueling Training 2014 exercise), and a NATO E-3 Sentry based in Geilenkirchen, Germany. 7 Quote

Dysko Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 No French airplanes? :( Not this year. Last year there were French Mirage 2000s and Mirage F1s, but this year the French Air Force is already involved in the joint French-Saudi exercise Green Shield in Nancy (I should have departed for Nancy tomorrow, unfortunately I was forced to cancel it). What a pity, since I only have static photos of Mirage F1s Quote

If you can go there you can still take them some pics. Edited April 12, 2014 by cangas Quote
