A Syrian fighter jet which apparently strayed into Israeli-controlled airspace over the occupied Golan Heights has been shot down by Israel.

I like they phrase it as "occupied Golan heights", the BBC needs to check how many British territories they mention as occupied?

and to the topic, there are a bit mixed reports about the interception but it is confirmed that a fighter jet was shot down over the Golan

The article says that it was the first Syrian jet downed by the IDFAF since the 1980s, but didn´t two Baz shoot down two Syrian Fulcrums just a couple of days after 9-11?
