SF2 F-111F Aardvarks from USAF/E 48th Liberty Wing. The 492nd, 493rd, 494th and 495th TFS

SF2 F-111F Aardvarks from USAF/E 48th Liberty Wing. The 492nd, 493rd, 494th and 495th TFS!
By Viper with INIs by Fanatic Modder

-------------------------------------------------------------

This mod was intended as an update to FastCargo's Super Vark Package (See link below), but it can be a standalone mod if you just want the USAF F-111s included in this pack. If you want to install both packs, FastCargo's pack must be installed first as that is the older pack.

You can get FastCargo's pack here...

http://combatace.com/files/file/10425-f-111-super-vark-pack-version-24/

-------------------------------------------------------------

What's included in this mod pack?
-------------------------------------------------------------

* F-111F Aardvarks from USAF/E 48th Liberty Wing. The 492nd, 493rd, 494th and 495th TFS!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Installation:
-------------------------------------------------------------

I recommend that you back up your mod folder (or just the Effects, \Objects\Aircraft\F-111F, and \Objects\Decals\F-111F folders). I just make a copy the mod folder, try the mod, if I like it, I delete the backup. If I don't, I delete the new/updated mod folder and rename the old backup/copy back to the original names to reset to my original setup.

* To install, simply unzip and copy the contents of the "To_Mod_Folder" folder (the uncompressed "Effects and Objects" folders only) to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder and Overwrite.

My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win97 64-bit was..(yours may be different)...

C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighter2 Europe\

Note: You should be able to install this mod into any SF2 series, it doesn't have to be StrikeFighter2 Europe.

* To remove, simply delete the active "Effects and Objects" folders and replace with the back up copies you made prior to the install.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Add F111 SoundList
-------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly, Read the "Add F111 SoundList.txt" readme file on updating your your "Flight\SoundList.ini" file with the custiom F-111 sound files included in this pack.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Thats it - Enjoy!

The two other F-111E squadrons at Upper Heyford (in the 20 TFW) were the 77th and 79th TFS, both of whom I visited during the 1980s. The Upper Heyford wing was also reinforced by EF-111A Ravens of (I think) the 42nd ECS from about 1984-85. The 48th TFW had the Pave Tack installation, while the 20th TFW tended to carry unguided munitions.

In NATO exercises during the 1980s, the F-111Ds of the 27 TFW deployed to the UK from Cannon AFB, usually taking up residence in the HASs at A&AEE Boscombe Down, somewhat further south than the F-111E wing.

Thanks LeL!!!! Appreciate your work as well!!!

Hi Stephen, I guess I have some work to do! Will work on a RAF UH Pack! Appreciate the info!!!

If I remember correctly, there was an A-10 group in the area too - were they in Bentwaters?

Hey Stephen!

So, I separated the F-111Es from the F-111E/F pack, expanded it, and released it as it's own package. So the F-11E package includes the 55th, 77th and the 79th TFS! I got a list of the actual tail numbers and created ALL NEW tail number decals for the squadrons! I threw in the Desert Camo version of each squadron as well.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Thanks Yakarov79! Glad you like it! Credit to the community!

Sparkvark Nose-Art - is that a released package?

No. I started to collect 42ECS nosearts and also did some decals. But other things came ...and I forgot about it and left it behind unfinished. For now it is somewhere on old pc's recovery disk.

LOL,I know what you mean. I have little projects all over the place. Sometimes, I completely forget about them for months and rediscover them...heh heh heh....Some of FastCargo's F-111s have nose/side art...those were cool...I was thinking about creating specific birds. Some have names and history, but I may just be OCD'ing....

LOL

Hey, I used LeL's cockpit as a reference and created new cockpit panels (INS NAV) for the WSO...Also changed the engines to 5 stage AB and afterburner effect...beautiful orange flames. Released that in version 2...uploading and waiting for Admin approval...

I didn't change the version numbers, but in the 06/30 upload, I upgraded the Desert Storm Aardvarks. I did some more tweaking on the other F-111s - cleaned up the skins and details. I also modified the pilot helmet and mask for the F-111Fs to look more modern. F-111s are one of the few SF2 ACs where you can see the co-pilots up close, so it had to look good. I am very happy with it. I hope you like it too. I've been using this pilot model for the other planes too...so I may release it as a mod of it's own. All credit to Florian - "AmokFloo" - I am using his/her LOD...I've seen other pilots and they look good, but none as good as Florian - "AmokFloo"s LOD. If you know of any other...Let me know...

Enjoy!

So the F-111's we did were that bad?   Also look at Old Diego's pilot models. They are the gold standard.

God NO!!!! LOL. You guys wrote the book and I am just dotting the "I" and crossing the "t"s. There is a big difference between what you guys did and I do. Without you guys, to begin with, without you, I would have nothing to nit pick about?...heh heh heh....

Thanks for your work, it is very appreciated and everything I do pays tribute, never detracts from your efforts!

Thanks for heads up, I will look up Old Diego's pilot model...

It looks like Old Diego is gone? But I did find some other mods base on his/hers. Yes, I've seen those pilots before. Those are fine when you don't have a co-pilot sitting next to you. In the 111s, the co-pilots looks like they were made out of paper cut-outs. I've seen other people limit the view so you can't turn the pilots head far enough to see the pilot....but I wanted another solution...a better pilot - up close. I got talking to Fanatic Modder about the terrible pilots I was using for 111s. FM sent of the pilot he was using, but he/she wasn't sure where it came from. So I researched it and found it was Florian - "AmokFloo"s LOD. There pilots are over kill for other planes, I see that...but I still think they have better detail than anything I've seen so far.
