Spudknocker Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Hey CA! So I have been playing around with a lot of fun WW2 addons but one thing that I have found that's a little strange is when flying escorts or intercepts on heavy bombers like Flying Fort's or liberators their bomb runs are exceedingly Slllooooowwwww... I just don't think its accurate that a formation of 17's would be Nose high almost at stall speed (like 70knts) while dropping bombs on targets. This also makes escort missions VERY LONG as well haha. This seems to be an issue for any and all SF2 B-17/24's I haven't tried 29's yet. I love the work done on these great models and not trying to belittle anyone's hard work just trying to make it even better! Quote
Nicholas Bell Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I've not seen that behavior with the Korean B-29's - I've not checked the B-17/B-24's. B-17's normally cruised at around 180 knots, B-24's a little faster. Do they ingress and then slow down? Quote
Spudknocker Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 Yep they cruise to the target pretty normally, then when they hit the initial point they slow way down usually and bring their nose way up and fly to the target at about 70-75 knots literally on the verge of a stall like a B-17 high alpha pass haha Quote
+Wrench Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 hmmm...maybe something in the LevelBombAI statements??? No, wait that's only altitude and release intervals. For grins, do the same test with the stock B-52s or Tu-16s watch their airspeeds. Maybe something can be found in there??? (other than the fact they're easily twice as fast as the Forts and Libs!) Spudknocker Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 I will keep playing with it Ive tried playing with their cruise and turn speeds that seem to help, I made them a little bit below the cruise speeds of a P-51B while that may not be super realistic at least its more tolerable in a game setting haha Quote
