streakeagle Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 This is one aircraft I really, truly wanted to see fully developed and in production. Northrop designs were almost always cutting edge technology, and yet they almost always got the shaft on winning big contracts. The B-2 was kind of a win... until production was stopped at 21 aircraft. Shafted again. Of course, I am also a long time McDonnell fan. With rare exception, the military doesn't want revolutionary, but evolutionary. The F-22 was a bit more conservative and a bit more maneuverable. Of course, F-22 production was seriously slashed as well and the F-35 may be the last big-budget top-line manned fighter the US ever buys. Quote
daddyairplanes Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 another video, i first got it along with a version of Van Halen Dreams featuring Marine Hornets. would have been nice if it had gone the F-16/F-17 ala F/A-18 route........ Quote
JediMaster Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 We'll see what comes of the B-21, NorthGrum's 2nd gen stealth flying wing. Quote
streakeagle Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Let me read my crystal ball: high tech, expensive Northrop aircraft during a time when the budget is or needs to be slashed and unmanned drones are being considered for heroic combat medals... Do they have even one flying yet, because I see the order being canceled any day now... Quote
Typhoid Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Let me read my crystal ball: high tech, expensive Northrop aircraft during a time when the budget is or needs to be slashed and unmanned drones are being considered for heroic combat medals... Do they have even one flying yet, because I see the order being canceled any day now... I have to agree. I don't see a new production run starting. I imagine the F-35 production will be cut too. I also hope we are both wrong... Quote
