Ever since I was a little boy I have been interested in planes and aviation, and to this day that interest has not diminished. I started drawing aircraft at an early age and was facinated by WW2 aircraft and some of the really early jets which appeared after the end of WW2. When I first saw the movie Battle of Britain which was released in Britain in 1969 ( I  saw it a couple of years later when I was old enough ) I was hooked.

I got the same kind of feeling when I saw TOP GUN, even though the dialogue was a little bit crass and corny. The way they were throwing those jets around was incredible, and the much bigger F-14 Tomcat going up against the very agile and smaller A-4 Skyhawk demonstrated the sheer madness and crazyness of air combat which is carried out a very high speed.
