What are the "must-have mods" for Strike Fighters 2?
Talking of aircraft, terrain and campaigns.

Whats your interest? WW2? Vietnam? Fulda Gap,1970s? Also how strong is your system? there is quite alot out there for all types

Cold war in general, really. Especially Europe, since I am German.

My system isn't top notch today (i7-4700MQ, GT740M, 16 GB DDR3), but able to run stock SF2 in unlimited.

There really is so much good content here the best way to get what you want is to put the time in searching the download section.  One trick I use is to filter the results by most popular or newest, within a specific section such as 'maps / terrain mods'.

 

Having said that here's a couple of personal recommendations:

NATO Fighters 4+ by Dave (Missions / Campaigns) - be sure to find all of the update packs

Germany Terrain Rework by Rends (Maps / Terrain Mods)

Operation Darius by Dave (Missions / Campaigns)

Riding the coat tails of the OP, any recommendations for stock SF2:Vietnam?  (I haven't taken the plunge and purchased the other games).

 

I'm running

-Green Hell 3.5 (Stary)

-Green Hell 3.5 Enhancement (eburger)

-Heavy Rain (Orsin)

 

I haven't messed with planes yet, although I'd love to get a flyable A-6 and A-1 in the field.  I know about the SF2V Ground War Expansion, but don't have the other games just yet.  Any other recommendations?

F-14's 16's 15's and 18's are all awesome in SF!  But remember to fill in the Bad guys too!  Get the MiG-23, Mig-29 and mig-21 packs to make your dogfights a bit more interesting than just basic Mig-17 or 21's 

 

For terrains I would say most of them are pretty awesome!  def get the Iran-Iraq terrains for both eras and the Rends Germany terrain for starters, also Desert 3/4 they are fictional but truly they are the best terrains available!

There are too many MUST HAVES on CA to list...LOL, But, in my opinion, the best bang for the buck are the campaign mod. Most of them includes everything you need, want or tells you how to get the other "must haves". It can be overwhelming for newcomers but well worth it...besides, it will teach you everything you need to know in the process...

 

First, Stary's Sarcasm mod for cloud\weather environmental - This is the one that will give you the instant bang for the buck.

Start here with eburger68...he has most of the major packs in my opinion...From Deset Storm, Vietnam to Nato Fighters...etc!
