Hey guys, I have a weird question lol.

I know that I can change the game direction from the ini in the saved game folder, but what if I chose the same direction for all strike fighters 2 games? What will happen, will they share the same mods or will this cause problems?

could you explain what a "game direction" might be???

Sorry I meant mods' direction. I accidentally wrote it (it is in the title anyways). The one inside the options ini in the saved games file inside the c disk.

Like c/saved games/thirdwire/any strike fighters u want/ options ini. We can change our mods' direction with this ini for every individual game, but what if I used the same mods' direction for everygame, like every game uses strike fighters 2 Europe's mods folder? What would happen? Sorry for the long response, I tried to illustrate.

The game will use the mods folder for Strike Fighters 2 Europe (for your example) and if you have any other game you will be able to use the content from the other games as well.

in computer terms that's called a "pathway"

-------------

once again, we explain how the SF2 game engines work...

You do understand that every install of SF2 is a merged install??? That everything available from each seperate game is available in every single mods folder? Isn't this covered in the Knowledge Base??

All the exes use the same core files from the cats to the dlls to everything else. That you don't need to place all the new stuff into just one mods folder. You can build as many individual mods folders for whatever era and specific location grabs your fancy (this is also covered in the KB, seek "era or theater specific install creation")

each individual options ini ONLY works on that particular mods folder and by inference, that specific executable (ie: SF2_WW2_ETO as an example). The only thing you can edit, as far as I know, is when the core install(s) are on the C drive, and you want the mods folders on another HD, say D or E. THAT'S when you edit the path in the options ini.

Also, you don't touch the path for the screenshots; those ALWAYS wind up in a sub-folder of that mods folder. Unless, the mods folder is on another HD

I think you mean the directory (not direction) entry in the [Mods] section of the options.ini file(s), e.g.:

[Mods]
Directory=F:\ThirdWireMod\StrikeFighters2 Europe

If you change it in  every game options.ini to point to the same mod folder, then I think every game will use the same mod folder. But since I haven't tested it myself, I don't know if it causes any problems.

I can almost gareeentee is will. No proof, but "knowing how things be"...makes me have doubts

I mean, seriously, why would one WANT to have everything dumped into an almost unmanagable mess, when creating other mods folders is so simple?

Firstly, thank you all for your responses, I certainly know what a merged install means wrench as I read the knowledge base before, but when I was installing a mod, this mod readme stated that I should use the strike fighters North Atlantic exe or a renamed SF2NA exe, even when having a merged install. So, I asked this question be because I didn't want to install my mods all over again in north Atlantic's mods folder. However, I will try testing it in my SF2E mod folder and see what will happen. Thanks for your help, and u are right it will be an unmanageable mess lol. Maybe I will try to give it a shot as I have already backed up my mods folder, but I will try installing the mod mentioned above in SF2E first to see the results

To anyone who cares lol. I tested using strike fighters 2 exe as the mod's one even that it's written in the mod readme to use SF2NA one, and everything worked fine. So, if anyone run into an issue like that just go ahead. It doesn't matter what exe u use as long as u have the game merged it will load the files from the other games nevertheless. And about useing the same directory for more than one game I haven't tested it as it was a mess for real to do so, but if I ever had to test it I will share the results. Thanks for the conversation.

My C: Drive is quite full, and I had to uninstall SF2 because the mods just took up too much space.

Now I wonder if there is a way to install mods in any other location but the C:/User-and so on?

      Hi everyone,
I recently got into weapon modding and wanted to edit some missiles.
I went for the Weapons Folder with the Weapons Editor, and some weapons were missing, even tho i can see them and equip them in-game.
I wanted to edit the AA-2D Atoll for my Su-22M3, but there's no AA-2 folder inside Weapons folder, nor inside plane folder, even tho the missile is equippable and i can see it/use it in-game.
Since there's no Atoll folder, i have no idea how is it possible for me to have it in-game, and even less i know on how am i supposed to edit it through Weapons Editor, since i can't select the folder.
I thought it may be a sort of "built-in-game" missile and for this reason not showing in weapons folder (idk i just made an hypothesis).
So i tried using the CAT Extractor, but seems like not working... no matter which CAT file i select, it says "error opening this .CAT file, no files can be extracted", how's that? How do i fix it? Am i doing something wrong?
Thank you in advance for helping me fixing all these issues or helping me find what i'm doing wrong

I am new to this game but I am loving it and the dynamic campaign is amazing. my only and only problem is that planes just dissapear in the distance, literally just dissapear a short distance a way, around 200 - 500 meters away? not too sure but its very off putting and its clearly an issue for gameplay.
I am using Patch July 2013
      Wings over Korea mod
I play on 3840x2160 4K resolution (I'd prefer playing on that) I have extracted the flightengine ini into SF2 Filght folder as well as to the korea folder and made some changes like turned off fade away and increased mesh values, but still to no avail? Anyway to fix this? Its literally the only thing destroying the fun I have with this game.

      Hi,
after seeing the TMF F-14 has wrong and inaccurate speed and fuel indicators, i found out the default Third Wire F-14 has working and accurate ones, but i dont wanna use it cause the TMF Tomcat is better and the cockpit too more realistic too, so can you switch the speed and fuel indicators on the TMF F-14 with the default Third Wire F-14? And for fuel too? Do you need to 3D model and/or do something else other than edit some text files?
And is it or it's not possible to do?
Down here are 2 pictures from the correct cockpit in the default Third Wire F-14:

And 2 from the TMF F-14 (the inaccurate one):

      Thanks for helping.
