UPDATE: About the hangar screen, I was looking through SF2 aircraft hangar screen. I realized one thing, it looks stretched when using it in 1920 x 1080 mode.  That is a problem if I decide to apply hangar GUI over each of SF2 aircraft's hangar. It won't look good, and I don't want it to ruin SF2 new menu / GUI.

Instead, I'll just use hangar as background as shown in the screenshot.  That way it won't look bad.  However, about the real photo, I am concerned about the copyright, so I'll use default SF2 for now.

About the real photo, I decided to test it with the new hangar GUI template, it came out great!  That way, if you want to use any picture, you can use it with the template.   Here are the results:

NOTE: You will notice a few things missing, compared to an in-game. That is because it is a background image file that will be used in SF2.  The sim will have the texts and buttons appearing over it.

SF2-HANGAR-2

SF2-HANGAR-1

At the same time, I noticed something interesting;  I noticed inactive "FLY NOW" codes  in loadout, planning, and roster screen .ini files.  So if anyone wants to see "LAUNCH" button enabled in these screen, let me know.  For now, I think it is practical to keep each screen clean and informative as possible.

UPDATE: I finally managed to finish working on the pilot's record page. It was a lot of work cleaning the codes and reorganized everything while placing the new GUI into it.

The feedbacks are appreciated. I always look for the ways to improve the screen.  Here is the screenshot:

UPDATE:  The Debris screen took a lot of time today.  To my surprise, the screen assets did not work well with my planned screen design.  The text group does not have horizontal scrollbar, only vertical.

So I had to re-design debrief screen completely from ground up.  Now it is finally completed after many tweaks and moving the text around as the final touch.  Here are screenshots:

NOTE: I just realized I need to fix a little issues with the icons and text 'overlapping' each other at the last screenshot. I will move icon a little lower while moving the group of text a little upper.  Then it will be perfect!  Same thing with stats page, I will move weapon a little bit to the right.

Thank you!  That is exactly what I wanted to do.  I have been looking for the jobs making Menu / GUI for any companies in Japan or internationally (Through online).   For now, modding SF2 is a perfect opportunity to develop the new skills that I love doing and sharing with the community.

UPDATE:

I finally have completed working on the campaign screen.  It was interesting working on figuring out how to make a 'switch' working when selecting between "CREATE CAMPAIGN" and "LOAD CAMPAIGN".  Here are screenshots:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right now I am brainstorming on how to make dial switch work in OPTION screen.  For now, at least I got .tga working, so I will have the working transparent background.  If anyone has an idea on how I can make dial switch work, please share here.

OPTION

Let's see if I can conquer this new challenges.

UPDATE:

I FINALLY managed to finish working on OPTIONS screen. Unfortunately, I am unable to get dial switch working.  Because there are no codes that allow me to have the second placement for the same button in SF2 that I know of yet.  After doing many experiments, there is no alternative methods.

So instead, today I got an idea! It was inspired by Jane's WWII Fighter GUI, so I decided to go with the toggle switch instead.  This time, it looks great!  I am moving on the next screen.  I think that soon, I will be releasing the BETA version.  That way anyone can test it while I continue to expand it.  Keep in mind, it is designed in 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Good afternoon everyone!

It is raining a lot today, because of that, the planned day of going out is cancelled.  So I took an opportunity to do massive cleaning up of project.  I learned one neat, yet important trick for organizing the files in menu.  It also applies to another aspect of .ini modding.  Here is my old project with many files everywhere, making it challenging to find the files when I need it for .ini dancing and GUI polishing:

1

Here is the old code:

[CampaignScreen]
MenuType=NORMAL_MENU
BackgroundImage=SF2_CAMPAIGN.bmp <<< SEE HERE
MenuItem001=SystemMenuHotspot
MenuItem002=NewCampaignButton
MenuItem003=LoadCampaignButton
(etc...)

Now you can put any files into sub folder and rename it as this way:

[CampaignScreen]
MenuType=NORMAL_MENU
BackgroundImage=SF2_SCREENS\SF2_CAMPAIGN.bmp <<< SEE HERE
MenuItem001=SystemMenuHotspot
MenuItem002=NewCampaignButton
MenuItem003=LoadCampaignButton
(etc...)

Now my project looks much cleaner and is easier for me to find any specific files:
2

That way, it is also helpful to any modders who want to learn how to mod menu, can study the .ini and files easier.  In my opinion, If you do it this way, it will be easier to work on .ini and materials that .ini uses.

UPDATE:  I am still working on Mission Editor.  It is one of most challenging project.  Took me days to work on it.  I had to re-design screen three times, in order, to able to fit all elements of GUI on one screen.  Note: I also added the place where the "help" text appear (left lower part of screen).  It is not done yet.  For now, I am relieved with the results so far:

I also worked on the new initializing screen when you start SFP2.  It is in 1920 x 1080, but I had to convert it to 1024x768, in order, to get it working in SF2 for initializing part.

      I don't really know how this happened, but the font for the menu and HUD has changed, text is now slanted and some letters and words are getting slightly cut-off, it's not game breaking in the slightest, but it is a bit annoying as some things have proven difficult to read. I will attach some screenshot examples. If anyone knows why this has happened and how I can fix it, it would be very much appreciated!

      View File Wings Over World Menu Screens
      Wings Over World Menu Screens
      January 13th, 2019 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2 games
      This package is my personal conversion of the beautiful Strike Fighters: Project One menu screens, with a number of enhancements for use in Strike Fighters 2. The main menu screen is a reworked version of the NACA Main Screen released by Camouflage (Checksix-fr.com). The title I chose for the main menu screen is "Strike Fighters: Wings Over World", in honor of the old WOE/WOV/WOI series of SF1 games. I find this name suitable for those who have a large mod folder spanning different world scenarios.
      Here below a quick summary of enhancements and additions:
      -All the music tracks from the SF games have been included; now there's a unique track for each screen.
      -Hangar Screen has got the hangar noise sounds which were present in the SF1 games.
      -Option to turn Lens Flare off as in the SF1 games is back.
      -Opportunity to change pilot at the Campaign Screen is reintroduced, as in the SF1 games.
      -Briefing Screen has been reintroduced for eye-candy (it has a small string "bug" with certain missions, since ThirdWire's removal of the FAC mission type).
      -Added generic _briefing.ini files for all the stock SF2 terrains (terrains without a _briefing.ini file might cause CTDs when accessing the Briefing Screen).
      -Added Launch/Fly button in the Briefing, Loadout, Flight Roster and Planning Map screens.
      -Added the missing PILOTPIC25 bitmap which is available in the SF1 games.
      -Loading Screen shows a generic runway and a new, longer loading sound is used.
      -Mission Editor DLC is supported with a new screen in the same style of the other screens.
      -Campaign Customizer DLC is supported with a new screen in the same style of the other screens.
      -Disabled unnecessary functions of the the System Menu, such as accessing ThirdWire's online site for viewing the game manual.
      As a bonus, the package includes 42 single missions taking place across all theatres of the SF2 series; most of them have been made by ThirdWire and released in their SF1 games. Five single missions are Instant Action scenarios of Strike Fighters 2, which I converted to be choosable and playable in the Single Missions Screen. Additional missions include historical scenarios created by guyran for the Israel theater. I renamed all single missions to use a nicer naming convention. Needless to say, all SF2 titles must be installed to be able to play all the missions.
      In addition, I have tweaked some Flight folder files to improve the realism of the game's HUD and in-game map. Since users may not like such changes, those files are not included by default, they must be installed manually. They can be found inside the "(Additional Tweaks)" folder. Here below a quick summary of changes they bring:
      -Disabled all the unuseful Labels when viewing the in-game map.
      -Disabled the arcade cones; lock your target and press F4 to visually track it.
      -Tweaked icons' colours so that they match the text's colours.
      -The in-game text background is less noticeable.
      -Text's font is now different, it is generally smaller and less obtrusive.
      -No more red and blue arcade squares when locking objects on; a faint yellow square is now used.
      -The white triangle showing the next waypoint is now a faint yellow, unlike the default strong white.
      -Disabled the radar box display; check the radar of your plane's cockpit, instead.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
      -ThirdWire, for the fantastic menu screens which are included in the stock SFP1 game.
      -kout, for the System Menu icon I have taken from his SF1 Grey Main Menu Replacement mod.
      -Camouflage, for the NACA Main Screen (still available at the archives of Checksix-fr.com), which I have reworked.
      -HomeFries, for the planning map enhancements available in his Semi-Transparent Map Icons package.
      -Viper63a, for the Loading sound, which I got from one of his menu mods.
      -paulopanz, for collecting and updating guyran's WOI custom missions properly to SF2 standards.
      -guyran, for the original custom missions he created for Wings Over Israel.
      -KJakker, for his interest and welcome support.

      >Disclaimer:
      This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
      Any changes to the package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.
