VFC_Baxter Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 I read on my source that they only made 65 machines. Three were sent for testing to the western front but were rejected as not being suitable because of being underpowered. Palmed off to the Russians who upgraded the engines they proved quite successful in their war. Reminds me of the P39 in WWII, very popular in Russia (they loved the tricycle landing gear and its low level performance) but relegated to Pacific backwaters in US service. I wonder why our lot (Australia) did not sell the Boomerang fighter to the Russkis as well. 1 Quote
catch Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 I should think that an aircraft wot shoots holes in the engine cowling lacks a certain panache as a fighting aeroplane. It looks to me that Biggles is the test pilot. Showing off as usual .... 1 Quote
