It's actually an F.B.19 Mk II with the 110hp Clerget  Or Bob for short if you like.  :smile:

I read on my source that they only made 65 machines. Three were sent for testing to the western front but were rejected as not being suitable because of being underpowered. Palmed off to the Russians who upgraded the engines they proved quite successful  in their war. Reminds me of the P39 in WWII, very popular in Russia (they loved the tricycle landing gear and its low level performance) but relegated to Pacific backwaters in US service.

I wonder why our lot (Australia) did not sell the Boomerang fighter to the Russkis as well. :biggrin:

I should think that an aircraft wot shoots holes in the engine cowling lacks a certain panache as a fighting aeroplane. It looks to me that Biggles is the test pilot. Showing off as usual ....
