EricJ Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 I use the SF2:NA Nimitz because that's a decent deck. The only problem is that on most maps after I fly around, it stops and doesn't move. I brought this up with Nightshade/PR and he pointed me to some, but I'm just looking for a deck that moves so I can do moving deck landings. Quote
Wrench Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Does the boat have enough sea room??? I know some terrains don't Quote
EricJ Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 I think they do, and they're set to travel in it, without hitting the land. Quote
+allenjb42 Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 If this is a user made mission have a look at the carrier's course and speed. Maybe the carrier has just run out of waypoints by the time you get back from your flight., so looks to be static. Quote
EricJ Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 No there is plenty of waypoint to use Quote
KJakker Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Sometimes ships hang up on the edge of sea tiles. 1 Quote
Wrench Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 are the tile edges considered shoal water then???? --------------------------- ducks and runs out of the room -----------------------------------------------------------------------------> OTH, Eric, have you tried it on the Waterworld terrain? Not that much land to get in the way 3 Quote

alexis99 Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 I fly Navy a lot. I have never had that problem of a carrier just stopping. I once had a carrier plough into the Vietnam coast and keep travelling overland, along with the escort ships. The carrier's random placement just put it too near the coast and pointing West, for that one mission. I fly the Mediterranean (Libya), and there's enough water there to make sure a carrier never runs aground. I fly Desert 4 too, and the fleet is always well away from the coast and always moving. I used to zap to the final waypoint after a mission, and the darn carrier was always facing an awkward direction, and turning just to teach me a lesson for not flying waypoints. Once I understood the need for dumping excess fuel in order to make landings more realistic, I started flying waypoints properly and often reduced the fuel load to start with. So, if you have NA, and fly Vietnam, Libya, Desert 4, single mission, you should always get a moving carrier. I always have. If not, your install probably has a deeper problem. Quote
alexis99 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 See! Aircraft carrier moving across Vietnam landscape. So landscape tiles don't stop the carriers moving. I couldn't snag the wire, though. 1 Quote
EricJ Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 That used to be a problem with me lol but I usually place it far enough away so that doesn't happen. But I haven't flown in a while so I'll tweak it to see what I can do. Quote
Wrench Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Quote So landscape tiles don't stop the carriers moving That's because the game engine uses the magic supplied by Elric of Melnibone's "The Ship That Sails Over Land and Sea" 1 Quote
