Tommy2Fast Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Hi. Is there a way to remove "parts" from the "pilots" models? (the parts that are used in the "fakepilot method" to add parts to a plane) This recipe works when you whant to remove parts from the plane. Component[001]=Hide1 Component[002]=Hide2 [Hide1] ParentComponentName=Fuselage ModelNodeName= DestroyedNodeName= DetachWhenDestroyed=false HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE [Hide2] ParentComponentName=Fuselage ModelNodeName= DestroyedNodeName= DetachWhenDestroyed=false HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE -Tommy 1
Jimbib Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Disclaimer: this may or may not work... Step 1: One thing that you could try is hex edit the LOD so that the texture file format is a .tga. Alternatively, if it's your own 3d model, map the mesh with a tga. in 3ds Max and then re-export. Step 2: Convert the existing texture (I'm guessing it's a .bmp or a .jpg) to a tga, make sure it's got a transparency alpha channel enabled. (Would need to use a image editing software like Gimp, Photoshop etc.) Step 3: Compare the UV map of the pilot LOD against the pilot texture so you know where each node of the mesh is mapped on the texture. (You can use mue's LOD viewer to export the UV map of a LOD) Step 4: Delete the pixels of the alpha channel texture where you want the node of the pilot mesh to disappear (you can 'paint' them black in Photoshop). Again... this may or may not work... 1

Wilches Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 It may works on airplanes as well! If so, you can make different versions in the same plane.
Wilches Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Hummm... sad to say that in the game all remains the same. For airplanes at least. The blank parts appears normally. 1

+sophocles Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) Sorry to bring this up again but Wilches@ was right, the parts may not show up in the Mues' LOD viewer (the alpha channel works) but in game the parts continue to appear .. even after hex editing the LOD changing references from bmp to tga. Any other ideas Gentlemen? Edited May 23 by sophocles spelling
