Hello everyone,

It have been busy days, finally got to work on F-102A's MG-3 and MG-10 radar scope as well enabling the gunsight on folding reflector glass.  there will be two versions, one without radar scope hoods and another without it.

For now, here is version without radar scope hoods:

Hello everyone!

New avionics overhaul for V2K's F102A are now completed for radar scop eand gunsight. I am still ucnertain which opitcal sight rectile used by F-=102s, so A-1CM gunsight recticle is placeholder for now.

Heloe everyone,

F-106's new radar scope is still WIP.  After learning that F-106A uses MA-1 FCS and AN/ASQ-25 radar, the radar scope is made of DVST.  That means the background is dark withi green outlines

NOTE: I am unable to find what the layout looks like when radar is turend on..  The only source I can find is from DCS while I am continuing to look for more informatio.  The youtube only show a litle of F-106 radar scope. I do not know if the layout that is created is accurate or not.  I do my best everyday  I hope that someday will find the picture and will re-work on the radar layout / scheme.

UPDATE:
Screenshots removed because the modders sent me the information on F-106's radar scope. The new texture is being worked on.

New optical sight for F-106

I am not sure if this is exacltya ccurate, but it was found from one of youtube video about F-106.  And I thought it is fitting with current F-106's cockpit.  If there is an accurate F-106 cockpits being made, I am more than happy to include it in SF2 - ACP pack  with updated avionics.

Hello everyone!

With support from DTMDragon and KJakker,

The cockpits is from the work of DTMDragon, along with the newt optical sight, radar scope, and modified view position..  The radar scope texture and layout are remade from scratch.  There are two versions of F-106A cockpit; One with deployed opitcal sight and one without it.

This is amazing, excellent!

I 'd suggest to do a repaint of the F-106A cockpit to bring it up to stock TW standards - now as it is the textures still look as stock SFP1 standard from 2006...also the polygon of the radar scope should be made a real circle at last...I am making this suggestion because as we have seen with the F-89 cockpit you really did a marvelous job, so you can be really good working on textures.

as that's the F-106 pit by Pasko, "smoothing polys" was not a thing back then (expecially on his work)

Didn't Eagle use Stary's F-94 pit for Scorpion?

Hello Wrench,

Yes that is correct, I am using Stary's excellent F-89 cockpits for F-89B / C / D / H/ J with different radar scop eand optical sight, along with tweaked avioincs and cockpit.ini ffiles.

Hello FANATIC MODDER,

Thank you for feedback!  Unfortunately, I am not one who creates 3D cockpits.  I wish that there are new cockpits for each aircraft in SF2, which would take a while to create. All I can do is edit the texture that is included in each cockpits, along with tweaked .ini fiiles.

I am continuing to explore and figure out how to do more modding via ini files tweaking.

Hello everyone! 

It have been quite busy weeks, however, during myf ree time working on DTMDragons' excellent F-106's cockpit, I leanred a lot from him.  What I realized is that we can use codes to hide any certain parts or have any part of aircraft shoiwng up in cockpit from external 3D model.  For example, using an external canopy to ensure it have accurate cockpit frame, especially front frame.

At the same time, with the discovery of 'display limit", I am able to re-make the more accurate F-106 MA-1 radar scope (I found out that F-106 may have been using AN/ASQ-18 or 25 radar working with MA-1.  Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this one).

there are three types of F-106 cockpits;

F-106s which contains scope and non-scope version
F-106 Six Shooter version (with HUD) via fake pilot method.

Hello everyone,

I did an interesting experiment with an alternative radar scope style;  I wondered what it would be like if the radar scope is turned into TW styloe "deafult" with black background and only green lines.  It will be included as Optional if someone wants it, however, it is only if I have time for it. I am more focused on the accurate color and texture for radar scope.

If I flew the plane I'd go with the black background more than the accurate one, simply because it may be easier to see and so on.

Thank you for the feedback!, I'll do TW style too! I will add two files: TGA (for radar scope) and tweaked avionics that make green symbol less bright, so it matches TW settings.

That way we have two versions:  Historical and TW style radar scope.   The TW version will be in folder "_OPTIONAL" for each aircraft.

After workingon F-106s and learned a lot from it, went bck to re-work on F-102 while adding TW style version to it as an optional feature.  It is my goal to clean and fix any errors orr mess from my previous first attempts to create avioincs textures and diagrams.  Here are improved radar scope with actual textures and optional TW style version:

NOTE:  I am showing Rambaz version.  V2K have the same texture, so no need to show V2K version.

I spent all day working on F-89 series improved avionics textures and I am happy with the results!

You can see big difference by going from 128 x 128 to 1024 x 1024:

def like the 'stock' look better. I'd just like to mention the higher contrast of that will give a much better picture when used at night (where a LOT of intercepts were expected to happen -- expecially in the High Arctic)

I went checking my books of PDF; have the Aerofax on the F-89, plus the pilot manuals for B/C, D, and H models. But they don't show the radar screen imagery. (sorry!)

Still think the Phantom pit I used would be the best bet -- It's got the needed twin engine anuniciator panels for engines and such. Some of later missile controls can be easily 'moved' out of sight

I am happy you liked the TW style version, it it is now part of the SF2 - ACP pack!  About the manual, that is noted and please check your PM.

About the radar texture, I am enjoying doing both, the more realistic (texture) version and TW (Stock) version now.  Therefore, I am doing both for all avoinics projects from now on.

Hello everyone,

I am shocked when I just realized something.  Even thoguh,,   am very happy that I am able to create various radar scope / avoinics textures, but the biggest issus that just hit me the hardest;  Night mission

I only tested the texture during day, not night.  When testing the cockpit light setting, I realized I could barely  read the radar due to very bright glowing of the radar symbols / sweeping, etc on the top of already glowing texture.  this is biggest issues that is not fix-able without TW updating it in SF2 engine.

I am not deleting the texture, I will keep it for now. However, from now on, I will be more focused on TW style radar scope, which mean black background with green lines and symbols.

However, if the people here still want me to create the texture, I can do both at the same time;  Just be warned, the texture version is very useful and great for immersive experience, it is meant to be day mission onnly.  However, with TW-style radar scope, it is perfect for both day and night mission.  Here is an  example with F-8C new radar scope (textured version):

      This requires a lot of research, reading flight manual, and tons of tweaking in avioincs and cockpit ini, along with countless of testing in-flight in SF2.
      The mods is not perfect, we do our best with the mods.  We do it with the joys of our hobbies!
      This pack includes the following features:
      - New gunsight / optical sight
      - New texture for radar scope and another avionic equipment (See note #1)
      - Improved cockpit and radar through cockpit and avionics ini tweaks for semi-realism (See note #2)
      - Templates for gunsight and radar scope
      - Improves glass texture (If possible)

      NOTE #2: As mentioned in note #1, due to little resources (Information / data) on 40s to 70s radar, at least half or most of tweaks are based on an educated guess. For exampe, AN/APG-33 radar that is used with E-1 FCS in F-89B and C, there are some data on it, but no data on elevator nor azimuth angle limitation.  F-89D, in other hand, with E-6 FCS and AN/APG-40 radar, there are several data, which is applied in .ini files tweaks.

      TEMPLATES
      There are templates for gunsight, radar, RWR, and another type of avionics assets.  It is there so anyone can use it to create their own avionics for any aircraft.

      Avionics overhaul for Historical vs fictional aircraft
      I am dong overhaul for both historical and 'what if' fictional aircraft.
      For example, in this alpha version, there are avionics overhaul for F-8A to F-8K, along with France F_8s.  It also includes 'what if' JASDF F-8EJ Crusader. 
      ---------------------------------------------------------
      Installation:
      Inside each aircraft folder, there is folder "_AIRCRAFT COCKPIT FILES". Inside that folder, there are two folders "DEFAULT" and "ACCESSIBLITY".  You can only use one of them. By default you should install the files from DEFAULT folder.  However, if you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing that can not hear the growling sounds of IR missile, then ACCESSIBLITY is for you.
      NOTE: Make sure you make the backup copies of aircraft folders, in case something goes wrong during the installation progress.
      Inside DEFAULT or ACCESSIBLITY, for any aircraft you have in SF2, copy the aircraft folder and overwrite an existing folders and files.

      So I'am playing this strike fighters 2 black sea crisis addon and I believe I did everything right . The campaigns work for all factions except United States air force . When I select them and a specific squadron of aircraft and click on generate campaign ,the game just crashes to desktop . The same thing does not occur for Russian , ukrainian air force  and united States navy . What could I be missing here . ? For some reason , the USAF aircraft are easily flown in single mission scenarios . Like the F16 will fly in single missions but when I try to click on its campaign . The game just crashes .
