  1. My wife put together this video while I was tweaking the F-8FN for WoE. Funny, especially if you have kids: FastCargo
  2. Use the knowledge base here on CombatAce. FastCargo
  3. Neither will I. I'm running custom firmware on mine and I ain't upgradin! FastCargo
  4. Boris, What are the specifications of your computer? I'm telling you, if you have a problem opening your .ini files, there is something seriously wrong with your computer. FastCargo
  5. Did you do this to find your loading screen? And did you note that a modern WinXP computer will show that loading screen for only a fraction of a second. Also, Janes F-15 is considered THE defining F-15E simulator. Considering how many simmers are here, some of them have been simming since the Apple II, and none of them have found a sim that meets what you're looking for, I think you're thinking of another sim. I can say with confidence that there was never an F-15E sim released after Janes F-15 or an updated engine release of the Janes F-15 simulator. Maybe someone did a hack, or a custom terrain, etc. But that's it. Good luck. FastCargo PS Platinum, glad you got it working...enjoy!
  6. Yes, specifically I've been using Glidewrapper 0.84c. Also, make sure you patch F-15 up to 1.17f (Novemeber 1998 patch). Works like a champ! And, if you get hi res to work...it can look like this (just took this a few minutes ago in the virtual cockpit view). FastCargo
  7. Whatta mean it doesn't run on WinXP! :) I've got it running just fine...at 1280 by 960 resolution no less (in Glidewrapper)! Just re-installed it a couple of days ago to help viperfalcon. Runs just fine...looks a little old...but smooth as can be. FastCargo
  8. Also, check your X:/"Janes F-15 directory"/Wrapper directory. Look for 5 files with the name LOAD_*.PCX where * is a different letter. Open one of them...bet you find your loading screen there in various colors. Do you have any screenshots in game from your current install of Janes F-15? If so, post them up and I'll tell ya right away if it's the same copy I have. FastCargo
  9. Wait, what are the specifications on your computer? If your flightengine.ini file causes your computer to crunch down, you've got much bigger problems. Also, a GeForce 4400 is a video card from the beginning of 2004. That's not a very powerful card. FastCargo
  10. And because you're interested in the idea, how about you come up with one? If you're willing to do the necessary legwork and getting the proper permissions, you can come up with something we all can use. Something like the all in one packs already out there! If you can post in a forum, you have enough knowledge and ability to create your own campaigns and contacting the people who made all these addons to include them in an 'all in one' package. FastCargo
  11. Well, that's the way it's done operationally. That being said, I don't think the AI uses the lights to try to find you anyway. FastCargo
  12. Yea, go to this website: http://www.gulfknight.net/ They've got a UI fix there...may or may not work for you. FastCargo
  13. More pictures of the F-16 wild ride...got this from a friend: I think that's the squadron commander's bird too...oops! FastCargo
  14. You'll have to build a mission...it's not easy. Search the threads and the internet for info...I think there are some tutorials out there. I know how to add to campaigns...but not to single missions. FastCargo
  15. Odd, didn't get that one...let me send you a PM with the final details. FastCargo
  16. Yea, I did, you didn't get my PM back to you? I spelled out how much shipping with FedEx or UPS would cost. Are you interested in USAF? Or you're just reminding me about all the new stuff for it...:). FastCargo
  17. Yea, yea, it's a fake...:). But it was a similiar shape and size, so it didn't take too much to alter the deck bmp. I figured it would stand in unless someone wants to put forth the time, effort and ability toward a real Foch... FastCargo
  18. My version was for Win95/98. I bought it 9 years ago. Also, you realize that the loading screen you see appears for only a fraction of a second on a modern WinXP computer. Can you post a screenshot of the one you have? That might give people a better idea. FastCargo
  19. Nope, just proceed as I did. The less you fool around with the LOD file, the better. FastCargo
  20. My copy was bought at release in 1998, the original readme is dated March 15, 1998, with the last patch dated November 20, 1998. My box looks like this: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/jane...-f-15/cover-art There was a special 'officer's edition' released, but contained no new code, just new stuff in the box. My version is the US version, maybe yours is something different (another country perhaps). There MAY have been a 'CD-ROM Classics' edition released a few years later...but again, no new code! FastCargo
  21. Not really, the problem is that the LOD nodes for the F-8D cockpit are named different. So you'd have to find out what the 'name' (NodeName=) of the area you want to put the RWR is called. I was able to find the one for the F-8E cockpit by using a hex editor. There are several free hex editors out there on the net. Just be VERY careful using one...you screw something up and you could destroy the file you're looking at. As far as the problem with the BMP file, make sure that the file you grabbed, you put it in the cockpit folder, and that it's renamed F-8E_UHF.BMP. FastCargo
  22. It's Janes F-15. Picture taken directly from my stock install. FastCargo
  23. Something like this? :) Wrench, if you look close at my loadout for the F-8FN using the stock TW F-8E, you'll see you can load the heavier missiles. What I did was have the missiles load on the missile 'tree', thereby giving the fin clearance needed...though it looks a little odd. Here are a couple of pictures: Okay, as far as the RWR kludge, this is what I did using the stock TW F-8E cockpit. Added these lines to the avionics.ini file: [RWR] Type=3_RING AirSearchTexture=RWRair1.tga AirTrackTexture=RWRair2.tga AirLockTexture=RWRair2.tga GroundSearchTexture=RWRground1.tga GroundTrackTexture=RWRground2.tga GroundLockTexture=RWRground2.tga SearchPosition=0.90 TrackPosition=0.55 LockPosition=0.15 SearchSize=0.075 TrackSize=0.075 LockSize=0.075 SearchFlash=FALSE TrackFlash=TRUE TrackFlashRate=0.2 LockFlash=TRUE LockFlashRate=0.1 TrackSound=RWRTrackSound.wav LockSound=RWRLockSound.wav Added this to the cockpit.ini file: Instrument[xxx]=RWR and this: [RWR] Type=RWR NodeName=gauge_UHF Then I grabbed a RWR bmp from another jet and renamed it F-8E_UHF.BMP I think that's all I did to get an operational RWR. Uploaded what it looks like. FastCargo
  24. You're correct, but that doesn't do me much good, because there are no French blue skins for the F-8E...only for the F-8D. FastCargo
