Lost file! WOV
csb replied to j33l's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If the file is an ini, then it should be in the GermanyCE.cat or another cat file. You said it was a default file, I suppose you mean stock - so the game will still use the file because it is still in the cat file. If you want to get the ini out again, then use the SFP1 extract utility (available here). It extracts files (actually a copy) from cat files. But you don't need to do that unless you want to make changes to the ini. -
Lost my waypoints
csb replied to frenchkiss's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Try this for extra realism and fun/challenge Turn on autopilot and watch the compass with the waypoint indicator/needle. Take note how it works then try to fly by it. It even shows distance to next WP. Now I don't have the waypoints turned on and just use my instruments. It really is easy to learn and it's more fun (and you can get rid of the rather annoying triangle floating in the air). -
Yes, it would be good how to know how to actually use the merge function. I got same error message when trying to add the weapons for the Kfir into the Weapon ini. Finally I copied the weapons to the end of the weapondata.ini, and put nembers in sequence. Then opened the WeaponEditor and Merged (or Saved - can't remember which) the weapon ini - all ok But is that how it should be done?

Oh boy, are you asking for it! Go to Major Lee's SF - utilities - Construction School (for suckers ) http://www.majorleesaerodrome.net/ A man goes to a S&M Fair. At a stall he decides to buy a badge which says, "I'm a Masochist". The stallholder sticks the badge to his shirt but the pin sticks into the man's chest. "OUCH!!" cries the man........."Err, can I have another one, please" -
Not that either, couldn't even do one search, but....... ........All ok now. I did a search before replying and ok. Did several... and ok. Just a glitch maybe. Thanks Craig
-
Thanks, Erik That's not the problem, I found out early on not to use small words - a reply used to come back and state this. I have tried with various options checked and unchecked. Craig

Thanks for clarifying that, LL. (Actually I missed your reply to that guy) I shall have a looksie. but I can't post a screenie 'cause haven't worked out how on any forum site. The sun you created is the best. Looks awesome (and realistic when a jet flyies in front of it). This is the main reason I DLd your nuke weapons. Big thanks

Since the site upgrade I can't do a search of the forums. I get this message: Board Message Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. Doesn't matter if I use the advance search options or not, nor does it matter which forum I am in.

Creating pilots for sfp1
csb replied to Mont's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, I did here that his parents had to tie a steak around Dave's neck just so the dog would play with him -
Have you got Lens Flare turned ON in the options menu - Graphics. If this was the problem and you don't want the lensflares, like me, then in the enviro ini delete all lensflare, except [LensFlare027] which is used for the sun. Then change #27 to #1 [LensFlare001] PositionFactor=0.0 Color=1.0,1.0,0.9,0.80 Size=1000.0 //Fade=REVERSE Material=SunFlareMaterial IsForeground=FALSE

no sound barrier effects?
csb replied to littlesmoke's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ah, the video demonstrating what Shin is after. Yes, it 'appears' to sound like sonic boom - but it's not. This mod adds cockpit soundproofing. Shin, Check this thread http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=17181 It sure is a worthile mod. -
no sound barrier effects?
csb replied to littlesmoke's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You can increase/decrease (and do minor effects) the RWR sound and any other using the stock winXP sound recorder Easy to use. There is nothing ingame to save video of gameplay But you can use FRAPS - FREE version only saves about 60 sec of video plus sound. I've never heard about a SonicBoom sound mod before, nor seen it. -

Ah, silly me. I have seen that a few times and in the context(s) used I always thought it was some a/c electronics. Thanks. -
invisible pilot
csb replied to jodandawg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
This happened to someone else and also with a mig, maybe same a/c. A post a Thirdwire sorted it out. Just had to do an edit in the aircraftData.ini (I think) Do a search there. -
Is this with a 3rd party a/c with it's own engine sound -if so, have you added the sound to soundlist? (Althouhg I don't think this would cause the problem) Basically the exe edits the soundlist to reduce the cone of sound in the cockpit from 360 to 300 You can do it yourself easily, edit the Soundlist so that : InsideConeAngle=300 ( or suit to taste, I use 330 so I can here more roar when I look right back. You need to do this for all engine sounds and for JetBurner. Also you can change the ConeOutsideVolume=0 to something higher if you like. I have it at ConeOutsideVolume=20 as I always assumed that pilot could hear the engines well and now I like it like that. This setting is still less than outside volume and can hear radio comms clearly. Note, as Fubar stated before, this also reduces the engine sound when in external view and looking at a/c headon, but doesn't detract.

csb replied to agrippa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Hi,jtin Well, what is wrong if it is old. It works. They all work, although Rolling Thunder and Vietnam 1968 are the only two I have played since SP4. Now, you're just trying to earn your commission Just joking. I have only SF Gold, that's enough. Although YAP sounds very interesting. -
modernization
csb replied to highlyflammable's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Maybe you misunderstood the article, it is saying how to make wov/woe open ended. You may need to extract the options.ini from the cat file - Gen Knowledge (or do a search)for how. -

Simhq have a bombing tute called Techniques For Weapons Delivery In SFP1 It is written by 2 pilots and is a good read - not too heavy/not too light. http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_055a.html -
vietnam
csb replied to agrippa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Combatace has at least 3 Vietnam campaigns that work with SFP1. The 3 I have use the DRV terrain(also available here) "Vietnam 1968 on... " http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=2780 "Rolling Thunder" "Operation CounterStrike" There is also a terrain called SEA, not sure if any campaigns have been written for it.
