  1. OK, I'll bite. I have it installed, went fine. Where can i find it to fly - is it a mission, campaign or instant action? I installed as per instructions (xxxxterrainrange) and copied the desert.cat and renamed it to range. Range doesn't show anywhere for mission/campaign/ IA at all. How do i get to it???? thanks, savagkc
  2. I know, I know, - you are all against me because i'm paranoid!!!!! (read it closely).
  3. You mentioned in another post (about A-10) that we already had one... Did you mean for SFP1? If so, i must have missed it. Do you have the site where it can be found? thanks, savagkc
  4. Saitek site says compatable with WIN2K but dont mention XP. savagkc
  5. this stick uses the drivers from windows according to the saitek site, no special drivers needed. This entire system was brought to my daughters home (everything worked at my house). Only difference was i was on WinME (its completely gone now). The biggest change was going from WinME to Win2K (completely removed WinME and everything else). Next biggest was removing the modem and installing a LAN card (but it all works). The Win2K install went like clockwork, no problems at all. UHOH, i just found a PCI Device with a question mark in the device manager. Any ideas about - "PCI Bus 0 (zero) Device 31 function 3" ? The error code is 28 (driver not found/installed) according to MSKB. I dont think this error has anything to do with the joystick tho. thanks, savagkc
  6. I'm at my daughters and she is running Win2K. I have an old Saitek ST220 Digital stick here. The stick has 3 buttons and a trigger on top (no POV) and a throttle. I have tried 2/3/4 buttons, 2 axis and throttle. Nothing works. Win2K says "OK" for the driver every time but when i try to calibrate the stick, the cross goes haywire for a couple second then comes to rest at the upper left corner. I get no resopnse from moving the stick, buttons, or throttle at all. I have reduced the sound (hardware acceleration) to none (tried each setting here). Nada! Could use some suggestions..... thanks, savagkc
  7. I found the usafcamo skin but cannot find the 444RCAF anywhere. Is it under a different name? I looked in all 5 pages at avsim. Granted, these eyes aren't what they were 20 years ago...... :D savagkc
  8. Is it the file called Sabre Package? I didn't see anything about Korea on the avsim site... thanks,
  9. Good news indeed! Should fit in good with my new sys. Gateway 700X PC Tower case Intel 3.0GHz P4, with 800MHz FSB Motherboard with intel 875P chipset 512MB 400MHz DDR SDRAM (2-256MB modules) 18" LCD flat panel display (18.1" viewable) 128MB Nvidia GF4 TI4200G Graphics w/DVI 160GB Serial ATA HD DVD-RAM/-R/-RW/CDRW Recorder Sound blaster Audigy Audio w/IEEE 1394 Boston Acoustics BA7900 5.1 speakers USB optical mouse
  10. When i was in Vietnam i carried a thompson submachine gun (my own purchase). While waiting on the helipad for a lift back to base, a young sargent walked up to me ans ask "what kinda weapon is that". My reply "didn't you ever watch "Combat" on tv". Really felt my years then, more so now. savagkc
  11. Tatsu, OK, you got me wondering. Think i understand the "mast bumping" but "droop stop pounding" has me asking what it is? To stay in subject, will there be a weapons (missle) view (to target)? savagkc
  12. As a yardstick for myself and other possible buyers. Your recommended sys is a P4, 1.4 GHtz. OK, so a sample system of P4, 1.4 GHtz running WinME with 512 meg memory, NVidia TI4200 (128 meg mem), SB 5.1 Gamer for sound and a 19" monitor - could resonably expect what Frames per second? savagkc
  13. How flexable will it be for modding (making AI's flyable, new choppers, weapons, decals, etc)? savagkc
  14. Well, i've played a lot of heli sims and been mostly disappointed by them. Hopefully this will be the one (no reference to the movie). I noticed during the interview, the question about customizing was answered by talk of the loadouts/weapons. Don't think thats what the interviewer was refering to..... I think the question was more about modding/adding choppers, decals, new weapons, etc but time will tell. They recommend a 1.4 GHtz system. Graphics look great - hummm, fps may be problem??????? Interesting to fins out tho. savagkc
  15. Thanks, Pasco, that clears it up. And thanks again for the e-mail. savagkc
  16. does each weapon need a .bmp, .lod, .ini file? I pulled the weapons zip from pasco and cannot get the fab3000/9000 to work,. They show on the loadout screen (left-side) but never allows it to be selected. I'm flying the TU-22, Strike mission and its no go. The weapons are in the object folder and i have run the weapon editor against the weapondata.ini file, all seems ok but??? thanks, savagkc
  17. A plane collection can be on one site and combined into a large download (i'm 56k). They could also be available as stand-alone planes but with the weapondat.ini, etc, as a single file that would cover all planes. The weapondat files are not large and could contain info for all planes in the pack (or standalone). They would need to track for all planes and only need to be D/l'ed again when a update was applied (via site notification). I dont think the problem is with the planes but with the "other" files that need updating. I'm no programmer and know nothing about coding (quit at cobol), was a Systems Analyst upon retirement. savagkc
  18. OK, great. I can certainly understand a PCS move being retired USA myself. Hope it goes well for him. thanks, savagkc
  19. Just wondering where it is. Last time i checked, it looked darn near ready to go. savagkc
  20. i want to hear the jets better so i'm looking for a good sound system, one with a bass box and 4/5 speakers. I now have a bass box and 2 speakers - digital sound (would like to keep the digital part with the new system). My sound card is the SB Live 5.1 Xgamer. Anyone care to recommend a good sound system for SFP1? thanks, savagkc
  21. i have netscape (7.02) and very unclear. Hard to read it. But overall, the reat of it looks good. savagkc
  22. i have to correct some things here. 1st - she was not shot nor stabbed. 2nd - I dont think these were hardened combat types but were more like supply/transportation soldiers. Trust me, there is a big difference. 3rd - Since we dont know the conditions (how many enemy solders there were, what type of weapons they had, etc), it is impossible to tell if capture could have been avoided but i doubt if they just surrendered without a fight. 4th - there are all types of courage. Seeing your countrymen killed, possibly being threatened with death yourself or being faithful to your countrymen/country while someone is breaking your bones and beating you senseless then leaving you in pain (until next time) has a certain bravery attached. I dont know to many men (including me) that could do that much less a 19 year old girl. but until all the facts are in, i will with hold any personal judgement . savagkc
  23. capun, thanks for the info. I dont have winace now but i can get a demo i think. thanks again, savagkc
