  1. MANY KUDOS Michael!!!! I never thought of doing this! I'm adding her to my Soviet Navy campaign. She'll be a great stand in until a Su-39 is built. THANK YOU!!!!!
  2. The temps would be good. I spent 7 1/2 years at Louisville, 7 of them full time. I want to do all 12 birds like I'm doing with the F-4Es. This project will be waiting in line for a few weeks though.
  3. Nice one Dave!!! I was thinking a bit about doing a KYANG H2-1/2 now that we have the H model.
  4. It should work for Soviet as well. The key to the tight formations looking correct is you must be straight and level, and have enough speed that the AI stop bouncing.
  5. LOL no but I was really close once, a fraction of an inch. I learned my lesson by getting bitten by an FA-18. Don't talk to someone behind you while walking towards the jet!!! That stabilator trailing edge IS at forehead level with the hydraulics depressurized. I had a red line for 3 days.
  6. Well, I no longer have any pics from the military, but here are a couple from 2004 during my Airline training. In the BE-1900D sim Just passed the 121 checkride and still in a respectable Air Guard Civil Service Technician stance (hand in pocket)
  7. Flt, and anyone else interested, I started a thread with the formation.ini edits in this section. On to the update. The wings are done, and the tail is ready for minor tweeking. I also corrected the beef-up plate on the stabilators. Next I'll create the layered templates for the two fuselage parts. On to the screens If you can see the red outline on the chaff/flare dispensors your following too close The tails
  8. Ok first, this was a quick edit I did for a Blue Angels F/A-18 skin I started about a year ago. It is functional, but not cosmetically correct comm menu wise. You may need the SFP1E Extract tool here ======> http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...mp;showfile=343 First look in your flight folder for the following files, if they are not there you must extract them from the FlightData.CAT file using the SFP1E tool. You'll need the FORMATION.INI and COMMDATA.INI files to work on. Back up the originals if they are already in your flight folder. If you don't like the edited ones all you do is delete what wasn't in the flight folder to begin with and restore the backup of what was. First the Formation.ini these are the sections I edited [FormationType001] Name=USFighter BaseLevel=2 Level[01].Name=Squadron Level[01].Size=4 Level[01].Formation[01]=SqTrail Level[01].Formation[02]=SqLineAbrest Level[01].Formation[03]=SqEchelonLeft Level[01].Formation[04]=SqEchelonRight Level[02].Name=Flight Level[02].Size=2 Level[02].Formation[01]=Finger-Four <==== new formation added to 1st formation key assignment Level[02].Formation[02]=Diamond <==== new formation added to 2nd formation key assignment Level[02].Formation[03]=Box Level[02].Formation[04]=Arrowhead Level[02].Formation[05]=Wedge Level[02].Formation[06]=Wall Level[02].Formation[07]=Fluid-Four Level[03].Name=Element Level[03].Size=2 Compare the original with what I have above and you'll see I kept, but rearranged the more useful formations Next further down the Formation.ini, the positions of the individual aircraft in relation to the lead must be specified I just added these to the end of the aircraft formation section. I'm including the delta in the edit, but I never got it to work. [uSBomberFl] Position[01].Offset= 0, 0, 0 Position[02].Offset= -200, -100, 20 Position[03].Offset= 400, -200, 40 Position[04].Offset= 600, -300, 60 [DIAMOND] Position[01].Offset= 0, 0, 0 Position[02].Offset= 15, -7, -7 Position[03].Offset= -15, -7, -7 Position[04].Offset= 0, -14, -14 [Finger-Four] Position[01].Offset= 0, 0, 0 Position[02].Offset= 20, -7, 1 Position[03].Offset= -20, -7, 1 Position[04].Offset= -40, -14, 2 [DELTA] Position[01].Offset= 0, 0, 0 Position[02].Offset= 10, -7, -5 Position[03].Offset= -10, -7, -5 Position[04].Offset= 0, -14, -10 Position[05].Offset= -20, -14, -10 Position[06].Offset= 20, 14, -10 Now that you've specified the formation and the aircraft positions time to edit the command menu so you can use them. Open the CommData.ini and find the section [Menu009] [Menu009] Name=FltFormationSubmenu1 Text=COMM_TXT_SUB_FORMATION Item[001].Text=COMM_TXT_SPREAD_OUT Item[002].Text=COMM_TXT_CLOSE_UP Item[003].Text=COMM_TXT_FINGER_FOUR <==== ADD THIS Item[004].Text=COMM_TXT_Diamond <==== ADD THIS Item[005].Text=COMM_TXT_Box Item[006].Text=COMM_TXT_ARROWHEAD Item[007].Text=COMM_TXT_WEDGE Item[008].Text=COMM_TXT_FLUID_FOUR Item[009].Text=COMM_TEXT_BACK Item[009].Menu=Flight1Submenu Item[009].CommandNum=10 Item[009].ExtraSpace=TRUE These entries I chose to place after the spread-out and close-up commands but I don't think those two commands work anyway, so you may choose to replace them and see what happens. You might end up with two new formations without rearranging and disabling others. Enjoy
  9. Thanks FLT! 1) That's RAZBAM's Korea terrain, you have to pay for it but it's well worth it IMO. I'm not home now, so if someone could post the link that would be great. 2) See above post I'll post the text changes
  10. Sure can Mike. I'm at work for a couple more days, so I'll look at the files when I get back. It involves editing a couple of files, and it's not 100% on the menu cosmetics but it is workable. I'll tak a look when I get home Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks guys!
  11. Couple -o- pics. The left wing is the only part painted so far with a layered template and the pattern feathered, but you can compare it to the rest of the jet. Cheers!
  12. Mike, I edited the formations.ini so that it has finger four and diamond . It was part of a Blue Angels repaint that I started about the same time as the F-4Es A quick update: I was adding the rivets, and decided to go a lot more indepth . I have finished a complete multi-layer PSD template for the left wing after thinking of Talos's question some more. I'm going to do up the rest of the jet in the same mannor and release the templates also. It's much easier to adjust and feather the paint with layers . I've added grease, leaks, and shadows too. Let me get a screenie for ya.
  13. (puts on Tennessee accent) Man, Why y'all playen with them Jihad pop guns? Ya wanna get even, fry y'all some bacon and SAVE THE GREASE fer throwin.
  14. Uhhhh Hmmm. I hope this is all in fun, and I don't care either way. BUT .... for someone new here you are treading a fine line with that post. It's a good thing the Moderators havn't seen it..... yet.
  15. Sure Talos, can do! The only unit markings that is part of the skin are the FW and fin cap. Everything else is a decal. Wish I still had Warbirds and the rest of the series :) They were great books !!
  16. Has there been any word about how bad the crash hit Marcfighters? Is there a damage report?
  17. I'm not going to say it can't be done, but we are all limited to the extent of the game engine. That is why we are still waiting for the latest jets, and many of the Soviet birds. Many things now are a compromise, for instance the Su-33 that I was working on would have had no visible canards, or visable tail hook. Marcfighters is/was working on a proper version which would have the correct 3D shape of the more modern Flanker varients. The shoulder area fix for the F-14 would require a new visual model. The Super Hornet, F-22 and others have not been released due to flight engine or avionics limitations (we only have a 1970's avionics package to work with in lue of the 1960's avionics package in SFP1). Now, I'm IMHO all for having a "close" representation of certain birds until TK gives us the tools to do the details. Bring em on. That way when we get those details, most of the work is already done. I like the AB nozzels on that Cat! The bird's looking good. Can you post a pic or two with the nozzles closed?
  18. The textures are 1024x1024. To be honest the JPGs I've uploaded don't look as good as the screen shot BMPs. Some of these birds went to Luftwaffe ownership and were based at Holloman AFB. The rest went to the Greek AF. I'm happy with the painting now, so it's time to revert to my other old job....smashing some rivets then I'll work up the documentation. Thanks for the encouragement guys
  19. Ok folks, here's an update. I've been redoing the Asia One, and European One skins. The decals are all done. All tail numbers are accurate. There were 24 birds at any one time (2-Asia1, 3-European1, and 19 Egypt1 schemes). I have all 30 decal serials for the jets we had between 1986 and 1991. Here are the latest screens of the green skins.
  20. Whaa,.........The last thing I remember was being on final approach in my Su-33. How did I get here on the bridge docked in Starbase One!!?? ..........Q!!!
  21. Sorry to disagree Saganuay Don't forget the 'news' as good as my memory is here goes.... "The bogy has junked back into me for the 3rd time. Master arm on, master arm on. Fox One (in background "oh Jesus"). Fox One Again" Sorry, Couldn't resist
  22. Aww Dave, ...SIR!! You mean I should have kept a log of all the little changes rechanges, and changes again I made to my ini's? Sheesh!! You would have thought I would have learned S O M E thing at Lackland!!! So, did you want 50 sir?
  23. Man that Nader's loaded!!! Nice work FC!!
  24. Indeed Dave!! For a very long time I had hoped for a game that I could fly a good F-4 and repaint it into one of the birds I maintained, but with the SF series I can make the entire wing I might start digging for F-16C block 25 pics too
  25. There is another aspect that having been a sheetmetal mechanic/painter in the ANG that few are knowlegeable about. The paint used since the mid 80s is formulated to reduce IR reflectivity of a surface. It was found as the IR missiles got better it was more and more likely they would pick up and home on reflections from the target's surface, as well as the heat generated by friction of the surface moving through the air. The paint manufacturers were contracted to change the paint to reduce the implied vulnerability of these signatures. This has led through the years to the current MilSpec of paints. The 1st FW at Langly is noted for their "Mod" grey camo pattern which they made from standard MilSpec colors by adding a cap-full of black per gallon to both colors. It was mentioned at a corrosion conference that I attended that this cap full of black was found to have changed the IR signature reduction properties greatly, and as a result Langly's painters were asked to stop the practice.
