Where's Mighty Mouse?
Dave replied to Vigilante's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Because the Mighty Mouse rockets are availble on the F-86D/L only. The F-94B didnt carry them. You are thinking the F-94C. The F-89 had to be modded with other rockets to get the right effect yada yada, any way it couldnt be done at the time. It requires an update but Pasko has a ton of other stuff on his plate. Here is some info on the F-94 to help you see the difference between the 2. Specifications of the F-94B: One Allison J33-A-33 or -33A turbojet rated at 4400 lb.st. dry and 6000 lb.st with afterburning. Wingspan 37 feet 6 inches (38 feet 11 inches with wingtip tanks), length 40 feet 1 inches, height 12 feet 8 inches, wing area 234.8 square feet. Weights: 10,064 pounds empty, 13,474 pounds loaded, 16,844 pound maximum. Maximum speed 606 mph at sea level. Initial climb rate 6850 feet per minute. Service ceiling 48,0-00 feet. Normal range 665 miles, maximum range 905 miles. Armed with four 0.50-inch M-3 machine guns in the nose. Specification of the F-94C: Engine: One Pratt & Whitney J48-P-5 turbojet engine rated at 6350 lb.st. dry and 8750 lb.st. with afterburning. Dimensions: Wingspan 42 feet 5 inches with wingtip tanks, length 44 feet 6 inches, height 14 feet 11 inches, wing area 232.8 square feet. Weights: 12,708 pounds empty, 18,300 pounds loaded, 24,184 pound maximum. Performance: Maximum speed: 640 mph at sea level, 585 mph at 22,000 feet, 578 mph at 40,000 fee. Initial climb rate 7980 feet per minute. Service ceiling 51,400 feet. Normal range 805 miles, maximum range 1275 miles. Armament: Armed with twenty-four 2.75-inch Mighty Mouse FFARs in nose, plus twelve FFARs in each of two wing leading-edge pods. -

You all know the opening music to Jane's USAF? I think it was done by digital ranch. It was also used in the trailer for We Were Soldiers. Does anyone know where I can get a legal copy? I want to make an SF video with it. Or does someone have a copy that they can assist me in making this little video. Thank you all.

Libya Terrain by USAFMTL Thanks to Diego for starting this and thanks to Deuces for the tiles. She isnt perfect but she works. Had a TE crash and lost hours of work. Took hours to fix what got messed up and even now it isn't just right. But I didnt want to spend anymore hours on it. I placed good planning maps and 5 carriers areas. The terrain on Siciliy is very mountainous. So watch your take offs and landings. Just put in your terrain folder, copy the desert.cat file from the desert terrain folder and rename to Libya. Enjoy. I love it when people use my baby for good! :p Nice shot in the future use a jpeg (keeps the image smaller) and a photo hosting program so it will show up in a post. photbucket is a good host. Just some advice.

My tactics I have been using for years. That's why I live long (virutally speaking of course) The Bomber Intercept: Bombers are a pain in the ass especailly with a sting in its tail. If you can take them out BVR then do so with extreme predjudice. However if you are in a early jet and have guns/rockets or Aim-9B's [Roll Eyes] you need to think about what you are doing. Use the Aim-9B but remember its tempermental and you may get into range of its tail gun before it decides to lock. Not good. Taking them head on works but you have to be quick because your close in speeds can be up to 900 kts. You do not have time to line up and think; you have enough time to get a few rounds off then break. Always break low and away to the left or right to avoid breaking low and behind only to get your ass shot up by the tail gun. Finally bombers en mass are trouble and I only recommend this tactic for the experienced. Break them up and separate them into ones and twos. Without the mutual protection of each other, they can be picked off one by one (in addition to their bombs runs are now hosed) I take a tactic from the brave British airmen during the Battle of Britain. They would dive through a formation of He-111's, it is crazy but nothing will break up a formations faster. Timing is everything in that tactic. Another plus side to that is if you have an over zealous escort chasing you and he forgets rule #1 of my thread on A2A tactics, well he can end flying into one of his own bombers. See a 2 fer and you didnt even fire a shot. Air to Ground Tactics: On a ground attack mission, I send my wingman in with me after the primary target. My other 2 planes I have them loaded up for A2A and have them provide cover for us. The 2nd flight I send to attack all ground targets. They keep the SAM's and the AAA busy while the wingman and I go in after the target. In a CAS situation load up your wing man well. Lots of CBU's then play FAC for him. After he has expended his ordinance have him cover you then you go in and clean up. If you have another flight have them loaded for A2A and have them provide MIGCAP for you. Mind you if you are in an A-10 do not do this with your second flight, have them go after TOO (targets of opportunity) Migs show up....BUG OUT! Rule of thumb and I stress this (coming from real world pilots) You only make one pass at the target, expend all your ordinance and bug out. Use your pre planned egress routes if you miss you miss, so what. Get to your rally point recall your flight, go home. Better to be a live pilot then a dead hero. A2A Missions Keep your wingman with you as much as you can. Then send the rest to break them up....CRY HAVOC AND BRING FORTH THE DOGS OF WAR...is how I fly A2A missions. #1 Fly aggressive - just watch your six! Target fixation will kill you. [Cuss] #2 Watch your six and you buddies six. Getting a Mig off your buddies tail is more important than scoring for yourself. #3 Know when to run. 20 Mig17's vs 4 F-4's = NO GOOD use your speed, extend and escape. He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day. #4 Know your plane, you arent going to out turn a Mig-17 in an F-4. Use your speed, boom and zoom. Or the long arm of the law rule....if you can kill him from 20 miles away, then do it. If you get into a knife fight just because you are just looking for it...be prepared to ride the silk elevator. Be smart...

Fellas you remember that word doc I think Shepski or Wags made where you could write in all your mission data? They made it for LOMAC. Do you all know where I can find it?

In your flight folder is the flightdata.cat, from that file you extract the flightengine.ini, and you the replace the part [GraphicsSettings] with this: [GraphicsSettings] ZBufferDepth=24 MaxVertexCount=16384 MaxIndexCount=32768 MaxTextureCount=16384 MaxModelType=2048 MaxMeshPerScene=2048 MaxModelPerScene=4096 MaxLightPerScene=1024 AspectRatio=1.333333 MinPixelSize=1.0 And then save your flightengine.ini file again. you will need to download the SP1extractor. Then you will edit the flightdata.cat file under the flight folder and extract the flightengine.ini file. Keep the flighengine.ini file under the flight folder and edit it as you wish using notepad for example. To download the extractor follow this link http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/SFdownloads/SFP1E_10.exe

F-104A/C Superpack by USAFMTL For wpnssgt's F-104 This pack includes 18 skins all done by me using updated templates of Sundowner. Tweaked the data.ini on both planes. Fixed Thrust values, range, speed etc. Notes This F-104A is the gunless one. You get 2 winders only just like it had until 1964. I have included though a data.ini that has the gun for later use if you want. The F-104C could carry 4 winders, 2 on the wing tips and 2 under the fuse. However after great amount of research it was almost never used as the fuse missiles seeker head would get damaged all the time. So I did not include it. Make sure you have the latest weps pack installed. Also this will only work with people who have the older versions of SF that came with the F-104G as it uses the G pit. Original model by wpnssgt, original textures by Sundowner. All updates by me. Skins by me. Just zip the pack, run the .exe files to a folder of your choosing. Then drop the files in your aircraft folder. Go fly. There are 6 F-104C skins and 12 F-104A skins. Enjoy USAFMTL -

F-86 Kilo and Lima Sabres by Bunyap, Fubar512. Skins by USAFMTL and Sundowner. Original 3D model by Zur F-86K Late The NA-242 batch differed from the previous batches by having the extended wing leading edges and wingtips of the F-86F-40-NA, increasing wingspan from 37.1 to 39.1 feet and wing area from 287.9 to 313.37 square feet. Many previous Fiat-assembled F-86Ks were modified in the field to bring them up to the NA-242 standard. F-86L F-86L was fitted with the F-86F-40 wing, with twelve-inch wingtip extensions and "6-3" leading edge extensions with slats. The wingspan and wing area were 39.1 feet and 313.37 square feet respectively. The new wing improved the handing ability and provided better turning at high altitudes. The reconditioned F-86Ls retained the armament of twenty-four rockets of the F-86D. USAFMTL and the Dog Sabre Team. www.combatace.com -
