--------------------------------------------- Douglas A-1H "skyraider" Skin for Wings Over Vietnam/Strike Fighters by Volks --------------------------------------------- A-1H Skyraider SEA Camoflage Original aircraft and textures: MontyCZ and Myself New Skin/templates: Myself Foreword =========================== The Skyraider was the first aircraft to be produced for Strike fighters. It was also the first plane I skinned in the game. A revamp of the SEA camo was sorely needed and here it is. I have repaint it in better matching colours for the SEA camo, colours which I used for AD's F-105. I have also upgraded the weathering and other parts to current standards. I now beleive it has it place as a standard aircraft in WOV. Installation: =========================== Simply unzip the file (VietnamUSAFCamo) into your A-1H folder, which is located in the Objects/aircraft folder of your strike fighters/WOV installation. The folder "VietnamUSAFCamo" will appear with all required skin files. It should overwrite the existing skin in that folder ( my old version of the skin) Then open the Text file "A-1h.cfg" and enter the following text after the last skin entry: [TextureSetXXX] Directory=VietnamUSAFCamo Name=SEA Camoflage (Volks) Nation=USAF Squadron=VA36 Specular=0.500000 Glossiness=0.750000 Reflection=0.000000 Replace the XXX with whatever is next in squence I have also placed a new hanger screen and loading screen into the zip file as I didnt think the previous versions made the cut. If you like them just put them into the main A-1h folder. Disclaimer: =========================== This addon package is a non-commercial addon package. 16. Because the Mighty Mouse rockets are availble on the F-86D/L only. The F-94B didnt carry them. You are thinking the F-94C. The F-89 had to be modded with other rockets to get the right effect yada yada, any way it couldnt be done at the time. It requires an update but Pasko has a ton of other stuff on his plate. Here is some info on the F-94 to help you see the difference between the 2. Normal range 665 miles, maximum range 905 miles. Armed with four 0.50-inch M-3 machine guns in the nose. Specification of the F-94C: Engine: One Pratt & Whitney J48-P-5 turbojet engine rated at 6350 lb.st. dry and 8750 lb.st. with afterburning. 18. You all know the opening music to Jane's USAF? I think it was done by digital ranch. It was also used in the trailer for We Were Soldiers. Does anyone know where I can get a legal copy? I want to make an SF video with it. Or does someone have a copy that they can assist me in making this little video. Thank you all.
  19. Not sure my friend, I would ask Mk2 I think he knows.

Libya Terrain by USAFMTL Thanks to Diego for starting this and thanks to Deuces for the tiles. She isnt perfect but she works. Had a TE crash and lost hours of work. Took hours to fix what got messed up and even now it isn't just right. But I didnt want to spend anymore hours on it. I placed good planning maps and 5 carriers areas. The terrain on Siciliy is very mountainous. So watch your take offs and landings. Just put in your terrain folder, copy the desert.cat file from the desert terrain folder and rename to Libya. Enjoy. 21. I love it when people use my baby for good! :p Nice shot in the future use a jpeg (keeps the image smaller) and a photo hosting program so it will show up in a post. photbucket is a good host. Just some advice.
  22. There is an updated one by streakeasgle at Avsim. Go get that one.
  23. My tactics I have been using for years. That's why I live long (virutally speaking of course) The Bomber Intercept: Bombers are a pain in the ass especailly with a sting in its tail. If you can take them out BVR then do so with extreme predjudice. However if you are in a early jet and have guns/rockets or Aim-9B's [Roll Eyes] you need to think about what you are doing. Use the Aim-9B but remember its tempermental and you may get into range of its tail gun before it decides to lock. Not good. Taking them head on works but you have to be quick because your close in speeds can be up to 900 kts. You do not have time to line up and think; you have enough time to get a few rounds off then break. Always break low and away to the left or right to avoid breaking low and behind only to get your ass shot up by the tail gun. Finally bombers en mass are trouble and I only recommend this tactic for the experienced. Break them up and separate them into ones and twos. Without the mutual protection of each other, they can be picked off one by one (in addition to their bombs runs are now hosed) I take a tactic from the brave British airmen during the Battle of Britain. They would dive through a formation of He-111's, it is crazy but nothing will break up a formations faster. Timing is everything in that tactic. Another plus side to that is if you have an over zealous escort chasing you and he forgets rule #1 of my thread on A2A tactics, well he can end flying into one of his own bombers. See a 2 fer and you didnt even fire a shot. Air to Ground Tactics: On a ground attack mission, I send my wingman in with me after the primary target. My other 2 planes I have them loaded up for A2A and have them provide cover for us. The 2nd flight I send to attack all ground targets. They keep the SAM's and the AAA busy while the wingman and I go in after the target. In a CAS situation load up your wing man well. Lots of CBU's then play FAC for him. After he has expended his ordinance have him cover you then you go in and clean up. If you have another flight have them loaded for A2A and have them provide MIGCAP for you. Mind you if you are in an A-10 do not do this with your second flight, have them go after TOO (targets of opportunity) Migs show up....BUG OUT! Rule of thumb and I stress this (coming from real world pilots) You only make one pass at the target, expend all your ordinance and bug out. Use your pre planned egress routes if you miss you miss, so what. Get to your rally point recall your flight, go home. Better to be a live pilot then a dead hero. A2A Missions Keep your wingman with you as much as you can. Then send the rest to break them up....CRY HAVOC AND BRING FORTH THE DOGS OF WAR...is how I fly A2A missions. #1 Fly aggressive - just watch your six! Target fixation will kill you. [Cuss] #2 Watch your six and you buddies six. Getting a Mig off your buddies tail is more important than scoring for yourself. #3 Know when to run. 20 Mig17's vs 4 F-4's = NO GOOD use your speed, extend and escape. He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day. #4 Know your plane, you arent going to out turn a Mig-17 in an F-4. Use your speed, boom and zoom. Or the long arm of the law rule....if you can kill him from 20 miles away, then do it. If you get into a knife fight just because you are just looking for it...be prepared to ride the silk elevator. Be smart...
  24. You just have another A-1H than I. Where did you get yours?
  25. Fellas you remember that word doc I think Shepski or Wags made where you could write in all your mission data? They made it for LOMAC. Do you all know where I can find it?
