  1. Bringing back the patrol cap for the utility uniform isn't a bad idea, but the patrol cap visor only really protects your forhead a little. What about your ears and the back of your neck? The Army needs to institute the booney cap as the utility uniform head dress. Better all around. Problem is the rank at the top doesn't think it looks 'nice' enough for daily wear. But in defense of the beret, at least it got rid of the little green envelope we used to wear in clas s A's.
  2. Hi all, I may have missed it in my searches but does anyone know of a B-2 Bomber available for SF1 or SF2? Thanks for any help. Geary
  3. EricJ, Thanks. Found the SF2 Eagle Package and installed the ones I want. Working like a charm. Geary
  4. Hi all, I've somehow successfully transferred a Generation 1 plane, the F-15E Strike Eagle, into SF2E and it seems to work OK except for the afterburner flames. The engines light up in afterburner, but no flames. I remember sometime back fiddling with the Gen1 emmitters, etc, I learned about in an SF1 KB. But don't know if, where, how to adjust that stuff to work in SF2. Can someone please point me in the direction of a KB that teaches me how to get Gen1 planes to shoot fire out their rear ends in Gen2 games? Thanks, Geary
  5. Is it possible to make some of the SF2 stock AI flyable? And if so, how difficult is it? Specifically a MiG-23 and 27? I know it can be done in the SF1 series. Thanks, Geary
  6. Hi all, I'm looking for some Soviet jets for SF2. In particular: A SU-27, 33 and 35. Also a Soviet skin for the converted Gen 1 Mirage Factory MiG-29 I found in the download section here. I also installed a Gen 1 MiG-25 and it seems to work but looks a bit crude in the cockpit. So an updated SF2 MiG-25 would be nice, but I'll also take an updated cockpit for this plane. I see references to some of these planes, like skins in the download SF2 skin section for SU-27. etc., but can't find the plane(s) they fit. Any help is appreciated. Geary
  7. Hi all, I just installed a merged install of SF2, SF2V, SF2E and SF2I with both expansion packs and updated to EXP2 Jan 2011 update. All seems to work well, except added planes don't show up in the plane list. I know the planes work because they show up in the SF2E separate install. Any one have an idea why they don't show up in the merged install? Thanks, Geary
  8. Hi all, Does anyone know where I can get a good F-16 cockpit for the Gen1 F-16's? There are some great looking Falcon's out there but not so good looking cockpits. Thanks for any help given, Geary
  9. Erik, or any Admin, My subscription is expired and I would like to upgrade it. I can't find a link to do this. I only have the link to renew the expired subscription. Help, please? Thanks, Geary
  10. Checkyersix, I think you're right. I googled the Fairey Gannet and it sure looks like it. Interesting contra-rotating propellers.
  11. Great video of the RN launching and recovering aircraft during the 1960's. I'm not familiar with the prop plane in this video. Can someone identify it, please? Thanks, Geary
  12. Erik, Thanks for the explanations and category listings. Can you please tell me how to upgrade my subscription? I can find a link to renew my current subscription, but can't find the link to upgrade it. Thanks for your help. Geary
  13. Dave, Thanks for the explanations. I was in the military. Who, what, when, where, how do I join the military veterans' group? Geary
  14. Hi All, I'm a bit confused on the Banner Labels beneath member's avatars and and the "Group" category beneath the banner labels. I've been assigned the Banner Labels of "Member" and "Choice." (My 'member' hasn't apparently been 'choice' for years, ...if you don't count the overly friendly young women I met one night on some back streets in Korea... But I digress...) How did I attain these labels? How can I change them? What are, if any, my choices? Also, how does one join a 'Group'? What groups are available? I've seen 'Military Veteran' as a group. Is this a real or virtual group? Any help clearing this up is appreciated. Geary
  15. Wrench, Got it figured out and fixed. But it's too embarrasing to tell you how, although it does relate to another convention of this game I'm trying to figure out.
  16. Wrench, Thanks for the effort. That didn't fix it, but it gives me something to do to eventually get it figured out and you gave me somewhere to start. Geary

  18. Hi All, I've got a problem with getting decals to show up. I've seached the KB and read and read the Decal Tutorial until after about the 4th reading my eyes crossed. My left eye still refuses to straighten out and focus and begins to spasm everytime I think about reading anything about decals. So I'm wondering if there's a begginer's guide to making decals already in the D Folder inside the Texture folder show up on the plane. I downloaded some great skins to turn the F-86 into a Navy Fury 2/3. The pictures advertising the skins (Picture 1) clearly show NAVY and VF-84 across the back end of the fuselage, as well as other decals on the tail and wings. The decals .tga's are in a D Folder inside the VF-84 Texture folder. I load the plane with the VF-84 skin and number 113, like in the picture. It defaults to US Navy for country. But no NAVY decal shows up on the plane (Picture 2). Any simple explanation to help me figure this out is appreciated. Or if you can point me to something in the KB or anywhere else that makes sense to slow-wits, I'll give it another try. Thanks, Geary
  19. I think I'm begging to see what you mean by "Less a hobby, more a way of life." I've got to slow down on my learning. Been picking up bits and pieces around this site for the last couple of weeks. My head fills up quickly as there isn't much space in there. I need to flush the cache and sort the information. Think I'm addicted to this game.
  20. UllyB, Thanks for the tips. I'll give them a try. Fubar512, I watched the teaser film and all I can say is WOW!! Any idea when this mod will be released? Thanks, Geary
  21. Hi All, I have some pre-afterburner jets, predominately in my Korean War install. I noticied when I go to full throttle there's no effect whatsoever from the tail pipe. Much like the expression on my face when my girlfriend explained shopping strategies to me. I don't expect to see afterburner effects but I'm wondering if there's an effect for these jets? I've searched the effects section and found lots of afterburner effects. I'm looking for a bit more than nothing but much less that afterburner fire. Maybe some heat waves and vapors with a touch of fire???? Anyone know of such a thing or how I can make this? Thanks, Geary
  22. Hi All, I recently changed my Korea Terrain for a payware version. While I'm still evaluating the payware version I noticed the in-flight map lost the terrain features beneath the map grid lines. I went from the first picture to the second. Everytime I switch to map view I feel like I'm flying in the Bermuda Triangle. Any idea how to get the terrain features into the new terrain? Thanks, Geary
  23. Baltika, Thanks for the reply. I downloaded Le Missionneur and the tutorial. The tutorial is a start, but, any idea if there is a manual for this program? I learn best by step-by-step, clear, concise, correct and complete instructions. I'm afarid I was ruined for intuitive thinking by too many years in the US Army. On the up side, I see pain-laden possiblities in these programs. I wrote a simple mission and got it to load. Unfortunately, haven't gotten it to do what I want, yet. Think I'll hold off on trying campaigns for awhile. But I'll try what you suggest and see where it leads. Maybe even look for Lowengrin's campaign editor. Thanks, again, Geary
  24. Hi all, I've seached all over Strike Fighter sites and can't seem to figure out how to make a new mission. I've found a few mission editors that edit already made missions, but nothing that creates a new mission or how to make a campaign. I've tried the single mission maker in the game, but can't find anyway to save the mission once I've made it. Guess I'm used to the CFS2 mission builder. Help please? Thanks, Geary
