  1. In between periods of intense combat flight simming, I return to Silent Hunter 3 with the Grey Wolves GWX mod and it is superb in atmosphere. And I also enjoy Silent Hunter 4 updated to 1.5 with Real Fleet Boat mod and Run Silent Run Deep mod. That too is fantastic but I prefer Silent Hunter 3 with GWX.
  2. I agree with you. CombatAce is a superb site. I love it. I am glad I have purchased every single on of TK's combat flight sims and contributed to his continuing game development. But if it says in the rules that a new member is allowed 8 downloads per day, thats all I was expecting. But I am not getting more than 1 for some reason. Merry christmas.
  3. I am not a new member bud. Thanks for the direction though. It says in the rules that as a new member I am allowed 8 downloads per day. I can only get one at the moment. Is that a fault? I will look in to contributing maybe (cash wise) but not yet as cash is tight. ps, how do you get to be a valued member? Do you subscribe?
  4. Thanks. Yeah been hanging around for a few years, just dont post much. I enjoy reading others though. Been in to combat flights sims since 1984 on the Commodore 64 right through and never stopped. I used to post many moons ago on Frugals world, CombatSim.com, SimHQ and this one a little bit. Back to the download limit, I understand the limits but as I only wanted to download two files today I thought I could, but there is obviously a kb limit too. Cheers Dogzero1
  5. Merry Christmas to all from Dogzero1 Bomber County Lincolnshire United Kingdom
  6. Hi This is a quick question the the administrators. I have read the rules and read about the download restraints, but at the moment I am only allowed to download one file per day. Is this right? I just tried to download SF2V air and ground wars expansion pack 4 after doing part 3 and its not letting me. Is their a cap on download size? Thanks and merry xmas. Dogzero1 out.
  7. I for one, am entirely grateful to all the modders of all our favourite sims. You are the best. But forget it for now and play the sims as they are. You dont really need the mods to enjoy these sims. The games themselves are totally fantastic. I used to mod this, mod that, wait for every fantastic mod to get released but these days I spend hours just playing the sim and enjoying it. Try it and see for yourself. Today I flew 3 campaign missions in the Israeli 6 day war and it was fantastic. Stop worrying and start twidling with your joystick. All the best, Dogzero1 (not really a new member)
  8. Just remembered one of my all time favourites, Pacific Air War by Microprose. Boy that was great.
  9. Mt first was F16 Combat Pilot on the Amiga 500. Truly the greatest combat sim ever. One of my all time favourites though was Flight of The Intruder on the Amiga. I have kept all my Flight combat sims and even built retro pc's to play the older ones. I also have an Amiga 500, a Commodore 64 and a an Atari ST. I need these to play my flight sims. Here are a few pics of my sims:
  10. Post strike damage. The AAA was just too much. I nursed her home to a hero's welcome.
  11. I have just made a quick youtube video with my mobile phone and edited it with Windows Movie maker. Have a quick look and get the feel for it. Sorry about the sound quality though, my phone is not the best of movie makers equipment.
  12. Thanks all. Just updated SF2I and it now has FF. Great. Now, just like the older versions, where do I find the speech folder to do the same as I did with WOV? Do I need to extract it? Thanks all and I hope you like my idea for getting music into the game. Just for your info, I use this M3 File editor to conver MP3 to WAV. It works a treat. http://www.mp3fe.com/
  13. What about the latest patch? Regarding the graphical differences or the speech folder? Cheers Mavericks, you could change the wind noise but it would be on all the time.
  14. Hi all, a few years ago when I first purchased the box version of Wings Over Vietnam, I think I posted on simhq about this. I wanted to play some Vietnam era music whilst on my way to a suspected truck park in North Vietnam in my A6 Intruder. So I changed the following files in the speech folder: T1sinp001.wav, T1sinp002.wav and T1sinp003.wav. I replaced them with Ride of the Valkerie, Paint it Black and Long Tall Sally. (obviously my own purchased mp3's) and converted them to Wavs with the three file names above. So now, when flying along on CAP or Armed Recon, I just press tab, then 7 to communicate with control and then ask for mission status and hey ho, one of the tracks plays instead of the normal voice telling me my mission is still in progress (which I dont need anyways). Hope anybody new to the WO series might find this usefull. ps, anyone know how to access the speech folder in the new releases? I have just purchased Strike Fighters 2 Isreal and notice the folders are not like the older versions. ps,ps I actually prefer my original Wings over Israel as I dont really see much of a graphics difference with the new one and there is no Force Feedback on the new version either.
  15. I have been flying combat sims since 1983. Obviously my first ones were on very systems. Spectrums and Commodore 16 and 64's, then Atari's and Amigas. My favourite all time combat sim was F16 Combat Pilot on the Amiga A500 and the updated faster version on the A1200. Closely followed by Tornado by the same company, Digital Integration, closel followed by Flight of the Intruder. Great days. My current favourite is Falcon 4 Allied Force and Battle of Britain 2 Wings of Victory and Wings over Israel. My Retro Pc with Sli'd Voodoo2 cards and Win98 SE installed I still have all these sims. Here are some pics of my sims: Quite a few of my very oldest are in the loft somewhere along with my old Amiga. Happy flight simming folks.
