Happy new year fellow combat simmers...........

R.I.P fellow veteran.

I didn't say I want arcade games. In the good old days of F117A, F19 and Janes USAF, these weren't regarded as arcade flight games. But they were easier to operate and the enjoyment was fabulous. There is room for this type of flight combat sim again without resorting to silly games like war thunder and Ace Combat. Maybe you are too young to remember where us PC combat pilots did our training?

To be honest, I miss the days of easier to use combat flight sims. I wouldn't mind if it was made easier. My all time favourite was F16 Combat Pilot followed by F117 by microprose. These days, DCS and BMS just make everything to difficult for this old time gamer.

With the new (old) Microprose now obtaining the rights to Falcon 4 do you think they will update it even more than BMS have done? I am just getting back into Falcon 4. I just about to install BMS latest to see how it's improved. And just for old times sake I climbed into my old dusty attic where I keep just about every boxed PC flight sim ever made and dug out my original Falcon 4 big box. I am surprised how heavy it is too. Those were the days. I bought this falcon 4 in 1998 whilst serving in Cyprus in the RAF. I am looking forward to Microprose updating some of my old favourites.

I still have a bash with these superb air combat sims. I just love my heavily modded Wings over Vietnam with all the trees and clouds etc. But I have just upgraded to Win 10 and get the damn thing to run smooth. Oh well, Strike Fighters Vietnam it is then.

Lol yes. Been around a bit. I used to be an active member on quite a few of the first Air combat forums in the old days. Been mainly doing race sims for the last 10 years though. But now I am back with DCS and IL2 bos. Just tried my old favorite Strike Fighters 2 Israel but for some reason it is a slide show despite having a much more powerful machine than last time. With a GTX1080 too. I gave up with it after trying many different graphic settings.

OK thanks. I thought something had changed. But it was nice to be recognised as a veteran. No big deal though.

Apologies for not being on here for a while, but life got in the way for a bit. Now was it my imagination but didn't we have a "Veterans" membership once? I am sure I remember have the title "Veteran Member" or something along those lines. It was given to members that had or were serving if I remember right? Just asking...........

I just got USAF working on my Win 7 64bit PC. All's good too. Took some doing though.

I'm proud too. Very proud. Have a watch of this and get to the 5 min mark. If the hairs don't rise on your neck you are a either a zombie or a nazi.

What I love about this Tank battle sim are the vista's. The scenery is big. The skies are big. Some of the battles seem to stretch out for miles.

I love this sim. I play it regularly. I have the latest NTA mods too. Great review.

Nice but way over the top for me. You need DCS mustang. Now that really is a top Mustang sim.

When I were a lad, well in my early 20's actually, PC gaming was in its infancy and just starting. Back then gaming was a new thing. It was original and different and whole new world was opening up. My two favourite non A/C sim games at the time were the Wing Commander series and the Elite series. Well now David Braben and Chris Roberts are back. Have a look. Why cant they make it so its automatic like some of the old combat air sims? Just get in the right parameter and it takes over, But oh no, everyone needs uber realistic. I tried it again last night on DCS and I swore too. Almost said they same things as Migbuster.
