well, I've been using $3 garage sale special joysticks for my whole life, my current one is a Logitech Attack 2 Wingman. I had a nice Attack 3, but eventualy it would only let me bank right. When my current stick dies, I'll go out and find another cheap one. Hooray! I can't vote, though, because I use my keyboard as my throttle quadrant/rudders. Kinda like a HOSAT setup, with my left hand on the keyboard using the arrows for throttle and rudder (and "0" is my airbrake) and my right hand on the joystick with all the weapons commands. Works pretty well.

if you get waxed, go to a zig-zag flight path on any axis, so that you're going back and froth across his line of fire. This way the time that you're in his sights is minimal. He won't be able to get a good shot off at you, and will always have to go into burner to line up again. Eventually he will run out of ammo or fuel. Juts be careful not to fall into a rhythm, because then he'll just lead you and knock you off. And watch out in case he gets lucky. The wildcats used to use this tactic against the zero, but in that case the zero was lightly armed so a few hits weren't a big deal. In this situation, however, you'll have to time your turns carefully and take advantage of the low RPM and low muzzle velocity of the 30mm so you can pretty much manuver around bursts.

Instead of trying to fight fire with fire, or in this case, manuverability with manuverability, take a plane with a very good thrust to weight ratio or just lots of thrust and take to the vertical. Stay fast and high, and instead of trying to turn with a MiG once you get behind it, take a couple shots, then as soon as your speed drops below 450 knots and you lose your advantage, go full burner, turn off from behind the MiG and climb right back up. Let your speed get back up and then roll in again. It takes some getting used to, but it works. As long as you stay fast, no MiG-17 can touch you because they can't get in gun range.

well, I'm assuming that you know about hitting "tab" to give your flight orders. Other then that, you could go to "Israel" in the Nations.ini and change the pilot training quality to "excellent".

a strike in A-4Cs, lost #4 and on the way there to a SAM, told #2 to take out the radar, not realising that it had 2 ZSU-23-4s on either side of it. #2 kaput. Lost somebody else to AAA (lucky shot), then got jumped by MiG-21F-13s. Lost two before they RTB'd. The target (GODDAMMCOMMBUILDING) had 23mm guns all around it, and I went in to take one of them out, but didn't realise I had the ripple set to "double". The other guys missed the GODDAMMCOMMBUILDING completely, so we RTB'd in shame. Then we got jumped by two MiG-17s and bafore I knew it I was flying solo. Then I ran out of gas on final and landed less then gracefully in the desert.

The first console to make a flight sim edition, with a proper sim and a joystick/throttle will get my vote. Otherwise, N64 with StarFox 64 For the win! If you're gonna play an arcade-style game, it really doesn't have to have HD graphics or overcomplicated gameplay. Just a cheap little system with a fun game where you can blow things up. What more do you need?

I have a bad reputation with forum sites. I usually make a comment that some grand-high pooh-bah doesn't agree with and I find myslef no longer a member shorty thereafter. However, when confronted, I either don't crediti the other person with a response or I simply state the facts that my opinion was drawn off of and sometimes make a barely detectable tonue-in-cheek remark. The worst place on the internet for arguements is easily youtube, though. Just go on any video that features a USAF plane and look through the comments...

Now if everybody will put in the same effort that CL did there, we could have this narrowed down to one or two songs in no time! It's not Wagner, Strauss or Tchaikovsky, it's not Led Zeppelin, Guns n' roses, 30 second crash, Boney M, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stevie Wonder, Little Richard, Black Heat, The Commodores, Parliament, Average White Band, the Stranglers, Queen, AC/DC, The Who, Tragically hip, REM, 54/40, the barenaked ladies, the nitty gritty dirt band, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Dos Gringos, Carlos Santana, Tito Puenté, Brahms, Bach or Beethoven.
