1. A very smart scheme! I got the tanks to work by following the re-naming bit as you advised but then copying and pasting the original 'Hunter9' loadout.ini and the 'Hunter9' weapon station section of the data.ini into the relevant GA.11 inis.
2. Great work Chris and very well packaged (took me right back to '82).
3. Swooping Sukhoi After a one-week family holiday in South-East Ireland (recommended) there's been plenty to come back to but my first flight was in guyran's Su-7BMK 'flyable' mod.
4. File Name: Hawker Hunter F.5 For SF2 'Suez' File Submitter: Spinners File Submitted: 12 Jul 2009 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Aircraft Hawker Hunter F.5 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the excellent Third Wire Hunter to give a flyable Hawker Hunter F.5 fighter-bomber with markings for No.1 and No.34 squadrons of the Royal Air Force in the mid-1950's period. Both squadrons were dispatched to Cyprus during the 1956 Suez Crisis and wore yellow and black 'invasion' stripes during that conflict. These stripes are reproduced here as decals so that they can easily be removed or you can move the fuselage stripes aft of the roundel to suit your taste as photographs exist showing both locations. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Drop the Hunter_F5 folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. Sprinkle the contents of the Decals folder into your main Decals folder. Do not just move the folder! You must empty the contents in. N.B. If you haven't got a Decals folder inside your Objects folder then simply move my Decals folder into your Objects folder. NOTES This Hunter F.5 is set up, just like the real thing, with just the two inner-wing weapons pylons. MARKINGS Both squadrons did actually operate the Hunter F.5 but the markings are slightly 'generic' although the serials are accurate. CREDITS BIG THANKS to TK for the continuous improvement of a great little game/sim. And special thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. F-84H for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:EUROPE This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-84F to give a fictional F-84H 'Sharav' of the Israeli Air Force with markings for; No.101 Squadron (Camo) No.107 Squadron (Silver) No.140 Squadron (Camo) No.201 Squadron (Silver) No.201 Squadron (Silver c/w sharkmouth) This should work in a stand alone SF2:Europe game (featuring the stock Third Wire F-84F) but has only been tested in a merged install of SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I/SF2NA. BACKSTORY The Israeli Air Force had looked at purchasing the Republic F-84F Thunderstreak as early as 1952 but teething problems with the troublesome Wright J65 jet engine delayed a firm order until March 1955 when 36 F-84H's were ordered with deliveries starting in August 1955 with No.107 squadron becoming the first unit to re-equip with this tough and popular fighter-bomber. After seeing service in the ill-fated 1956 Suez conflict another batch of 36 F-84H's were ordered and the type eventually equipped four squadrons and took part in the 1967 'Six-Day' war gaining a fearsome reputation as a low-level attack aircraft. However the two squadrons that were still equipped with the type at the start of the 1973 'Yom Kippur' war suffered heavy losses over the Sinai Peninsula and the type was withdrawn from service by the end of year. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-84H folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-84H folder into your Decals folder. That's it! CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Special thanks to ludo.m54 for the superb F-84F templates. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 3 - November 26th, 2023
7. Great work! By chance I was reading about this aircraft tonight and noted that Israel bought it as a stop-gap whilst waiting for their Mystere IV's (having rejected the Mystere II). Did this aircraft have a name in Israeli service?

9. A massive shock and very sad news. To his family - may your love, strength and support for each other guide you through this difficult time. RIP Oli

12. I'm away from my simming PC now (it's cocoa time here) but there are a few Suez band/stripe decals in there.
13. Roger. copy that and thanks for the link. Looking at the extracted Object Folder I see that the Suez stripes are already in the game.

16.
Yes, it was just a dilemna I had a few days ago when I did my fictional F-104I for SF2.

Now the aircraft LOD's are already in the game so were not needed in my upload but I had to point to an alternative pit (I went for the Thud's) as to give it a true 'Zipper' pit would have required the extraction of the cockpit LOD (and a whole lot more) from a Series One game. Freely distributing the cockpit LOD wouldn't have got any leechers very far.

Slightly OT - It makes me bloomin' mad to see any Third Wire game downloadable anywhere it shouldn't be .
Forum software seems a bit touchy today...
17. View File [Fictional] F-105D 'Shalakh' (Osprey) for SF2 F-105D for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-105D Thunderchief to give a fictional F-105D 'Shalakh' (Osprey) of the Israeli Air Force with markings for; 107 Squadron - 'The Knights of the Orange Tail' 119 Squadron - 'The Bat' 253 Squadron - 'The Negev' This should work in any SF2 game featuring the stock Third Wire F-105D but has only been tested in a merged install of SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I. BACKSTORY During the early 1960's Defence Secretary Robert S. McNamara and his team of whiz-kids were on a mission to streamline the US defence budget with 'commonality' being their main area of focus. With the F-4 Phantom now being procured for the USAF as well as for the USN and USMC and with the TFX (F-111) project promising further cost savings it appeared that the two aircraft had the home tactical fighter market covered. So it was no surprise when in October 1963 Republic Aviation were formally ordered to cease further development of the F-105 Thunderchief and to stop production after the current batch of F-105D's and F-105F's. In early 1964 the Heyl Ha'Avir (Israeli Air Force) were looking for a replacement for the Vautour tactical bomber and openly expressed a preference for the UK's Blackburn Buccaneer. With the end of the Thunderchief production line looming, and with no follow-on project in the immediate pipeline, Republic Aviation proposed a modified version of the Thunderchief F-105D to the Heyl Ha'Avir at a very attractive price and this was eagerly accepted. With the last USAF F-105D's and F-105F's going through the door production continued with the main production batch of 100 F-105D-35RE aircraft (essentially similar to the F-105D-31-RE but with some Heyl Ha'Avir specified equipment) and powered by the Pratt & Whitney J75-P20W engine rated at 26,500lbs of thrust with reheat. Deliveries of the first F-105D-35-RE aircraft to Israel began in early 1967 and the type soon gained the local name of 'Shalakh' (Osprey). As a happy consequence, the USAF ordered more F-105D's and F-105F's as attrition replacements for Vietnam and this kept the Thunderchief production line open until December 1968. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-105Didf folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-105Didf folder into your Decals folder. That's it! 19. Up there with the very best! My first add-on for my new quad-merged install (remember where you heard that first folks) and this is a keeper.
20. Republic F-105I 'Shalakh' of No.253 'The Negev Squadron', October 1973.

22. Ummmm, I can't explain this but without changing any settings things have improved... perhaps it's all loosened up!

24. View File [Fictional] F-100D 'Shavit' (Comet) for SF2 North American F-100D 'Shavit' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-100D to give a fictional F-100D 'Shavit' (Comet) of the Israeli Air Force with markings for; 117 squadron - 'The First Jet Squadron' in a natural metal scheme. 253 squadron - 'The Negev Squadron' in a USAF SEA scheme (as transferred from USAF stocks in October 1973). This should work in any SF2 game featuring the stock Third Wire F-100D but has only been tested in a merged install of SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I. BACKSTORY Despite a very smooth test and development phase North American Aviation's superb F-107 unexpectedly lost out to Republic Aviation's F-105 Thunderchief in the competition for a new supersonic fighter-bomber for TAC. By early 1959 the end of the F-100D production line was now in sight and with the F-108 and B-70 programmes now on the far horizon North American Aviation needed to stretch the F-100 Super Sabre programme out to plug the gap and urgently proposed a variety of F-100 variants to several friendly nations, including Israel, Japan and the United Kingdom. In April 1959 the Israeli government signed for 50 F-100D's and the first of these entered Heyl Ha'Avir service in February 1960 replacing the obsolete Gloster Meteors of 117 Squadron. The 'Shavit' was a popular machine in Heyl Ha'Avir service and served with distinction during the 1967 'Six-Day' war but losses were heavy during the early days of the 1973 'Yom Kippur' war and two small batches of ex-USAF F-100D's were accquired as attrition replacements allowing No.253 squadron to re-equip with the F-100D before finally retiring the type in November 1977. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-100Didf folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-100Didf folder into your Decals folder. That's it! CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Special thanks to guyran for suggesting the 'Shavit' name. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.
