I am reading someinformation about Alamo found the AE variant being designed to intercept cruise missile. Is it possible to intercept cruise missile below Mach 1 in TW series? By the way, how to display a travelling cruise missile data on the bottom left hand corner of the screen just like an aircraft does?

Thanks for the pointer, Tailspin. Many thanks! -
How do you change the text color of the aircraft data on the bottom left corner and that on the bottom right? Anyone has any information about this?

AI in low flight level
Basher11 replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It really depends which installation you are talking about. As far as SFP1/WoV/WoE, you have to manually adjust the settings in the AircraftObjects.ini. As for WoI because the AI is much stronger, you may not need to do the adjustment. If you want to know the difference between each file, I would like to suggest you to download some file compare tools which is very helpful. Now, let's go back to your question. This is extracted from AircraftObjects.ini [DogfightAce] SafeAltitude=100 <----------------------------------------------Controls the minimum ceiling of AI aircrafts LookoutAngle=180 DefensiveAngle=120 ChanceDefensiveTurn=75 ChanceBreakTurn=100 ChanceHardTurn=100 ChanceTurnDirection=100 ChanceContinue=25 ChanceCheckNewTarget=50 ChanceUseVertical=100 FightWithoutAmmo=1 CannonFireAngle=1.0 RQIRMFireAngle=10.0 ASIRMFireAngle=20.0 RHMFireAngle=25.0 MaxPitchInput=1.0 MissileDetectChance=100 MaxCannonRange=2000 OptimalCannonRange=500 MinCannonRange=100 MaxRollForGunAttack=180 CannonBurstLengthShort=0.25 CannonBurstLengthLong=0.5 MaxRudderForGunAttack=1.0 MaxRudderForManeuver=1.0 SafeAltitude is used to control the ceiling of an AI aircraft. -
Seriously, I don't use all Bunyap's weapon OR maybe it is not the time I am using them all. You can just pick a few you need and put it across the the WOI folder. I am more concerned about another problem with weapons. When an ground attack aircraft is attacked int he air, it dumbs all its bombs and evade without ever trying ot get to the target. Is it just my WoI installation or you also have had the same problem?

Nuke effects
Basher11 replied to DasPotato's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sorry for the late reply. Couldn't connect to CA for some reasons. Indeed, many files previously found in folders of SF+ sims are now contained inside the .CAT files. You will have to extract them. Bunyaps weapon pack provides the TGA files that is quite true. But the problem is Bunyap weapon pack is NOT COMPATIBLE with WoI that has been tested. There is another weapon pack but that is with much fewer weapons. Now if I want say the AS-5 for testing it out with Tu-16 as the launching platform, I have to copy it from Bunyap's Weapon Pack manually. As for Lexx's work, you wil gave to supply WoI with the TGA file as resources. -

F-18A in WOI
Basher11 replied to TurtleHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I come to ascertain the root of the problem. It is not about which weapon rack or weapon pack. Assuming no add-on weapon pack, that is the same to say based on the vanilla version of WoI (i.e. no patch applied), and this version of F/A-18A, the outer wingpylons on both sides can load up to 2 AGM-65A/B and the inner wing pylon on both sides can load up to 6 AGM-65B/A. After applying the April 2008 patch, the above configuration is no longer possible. Sorry about the finding, but there it is. -
Regarding the avionic data file, I know very little about it AT THIS MOMENT. What I do know is it has nothing to do with AI aircraft. In Jane's Combat Simulation's F-15 which came out into the flight simulation market in 1998, it simulates nearly real avionics on F-15C Eagle. You can engage multiple targets and fire AIM-120 upon them on after the other. As far as WoI is concerned, the game engine's coding has been changed considerably. There are also some other radar track modes like STT. Might I suggest you to refer to the F-22's Avionics file for reference. In order to maintain authenticity, we have to make modifictaions not too much deviated from the factual data. There are a few places where you can obtain such data like radar search range and track range as well as azimuth. The problem with modelling radar is the the track range and search range depend whether you are head-on with the boggies or the boggies are running away from you. For example, the tracking range of AIM-120 missile is 30nm when it is chasing a target. When the missile is going head-on against a target, it's traxck range is increased to 35nm. So it varies. I refer to FAS.ORG before but lately they have changed their pages and fewer information is available now.

Yes, it is possible. Just rename say AIM120.LOD to AIM120.LOD.BAK for example. -

Alright guys, this version should still be heard even the afterburner is on. Missile.wav is the updated version. _Missile.wav is the original extracted version from Super EF2000 Missile.wav _Missile.wav -

Basher11 replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I am using Audio Editor to fine tune the pitch. There are 2 parts of the weapon release sound. The first part is the release from the pylon featuring a high bass noise. Followed by the actualy motor blasting off releasing reocket fire. A small difficulty is when I superimpose the file with the sound of the engine, it is pretty hard to distinguish the sound of the missile with that of the jet engine. If afterburner is on, the sound of missile firing can hardly be heard. I am going to tune the frequency up to see how it plays out. Do give me a little more time. -

It is an extraction from a good old game by DID known as Super EF2000 produced in 1995. Here are some screenies: -
