Humpday Heavies
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
90s throwback night "gotta find a way, a better way, id better wait" "Red beans and rice didn't miss her" "DJ Soul was on a roll, I been told he can't be sold" "I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all" "You don't like my point of view, you think that I'm insane" "Too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin" "Call my name through the cream, And I'll hear you scream again" 5000 internet points for getting the main theme, 10000 if you can name all the songs (okay a couple are outside the theme). FB friends, no cheating -
Tips for dogfightiing in the FGR2?
daddyairplanes replied to Chugster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
not to mention the local Site Serf has done much to keep this website out of legal trouble, i doubt he'd blow that history on being the West Coast Julian Assage anything published by the USG is free use (pubs, pics, audio and video) cant say about other nations. of course all are subject to clearance, like the abouve mentioned F-35 manuals. but pre 1980 on any airframes/non nuclear weapons that have been retired are safe to assume as usable on my own thoughts, this is a good idea, does anyone have access to things like Bunyaps(?) tutorials for bombing. i remember seeing this years ago just cant rememberthe details (Oh Wrench!)but they would make for a good addition to this espescially being WOx/SF2 specific -
Model tips...
daddyairplanes replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
not quite sure what youre getting at for effects without afterburner. most engine lines (everyone i recall seeing) have an afterburner entry in the ini. related yet probably totally different, to simulate the water injection on the B-52s i made a super dense exhuast effect (as well as long) then set it as the afterburner effect to kick in at 98% thrust within the data ini. probably not what your talking about so could you clarify for inquiring minds what you did? i always thought effects were an ini not model think looks wicked and would be nice as an intermediate between dead engine and afterburners (thinking of most any take off video in existence) -

i'll say this now: dont release in 2020 the way its been going , you release it, it will show on the CA download section about 30 seconds before Snake Plisken hits code 666 (triggering a global EMP and wiping out all technology for those that havent seen the movie)- 471 replies

US B-52 buzzing by two Russian jets
daddyairplanes replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
sadly in the 21st Century the US press would. remember a big to do about a "Russian spy ship" off the east coast waiting on a carrier group that was deploying a year ago. 30 years ago it would be called a trawler, and might not even make the ships news. -

Question about close formation flying...
daddyairplanes replied to Muesli's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
oh my, the dreaded 7 engine landing on a serious note, there is a formation ini that can be tweaked. but its a global thing (Soviet Fighter, US Bomber, not MiG-21 or B-52) and not likely the issue here -
B-42A Mixmaster for Strike Fighters 2

any chance for a B-43 Jetmaster, given it was one of the mid 40s airframes that became a jet by switching powerplants? -

Decal troubles
daddyairplanes replied to LilLucy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
LilLucy, congrats on being one of the few that changes the game to what you want (otherwise known as modding) rather than asking others for the change. that said.. take the time to look through both the knowledge base and previous threads. theres alot of info from near a decade (yeah i just said it) of SF2 modding and even longer of base Thirdwire modding. there is even possibly the very mods you are looking for buried in threads or Download sections takes time, but is well worth it. -
Mustang and nape
daddyairplanes replied to RustyKurnass's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
years on your nape match years on Mustang, years in Korea? do the Nations match (ie could nape be USN rather than USAF)? is the weight of the nape lower than the max weight of that wing station? -

Ship movement direction matter
daddyairplanes replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
sounds odd. model cant be changed without the max file, what i wonder is if putting a negative speed in the movementSystem part of the data ini would work (its a shot in the dark, not an informed statement) also, did you get it from a GroundObjects folder that was part of a terrain, or direct from a Terrain? if direct from a terrain, it was likely a static object placed to be bombed and not intended to move. that could also be why it faces left (to differentiate from the regular ships rather than the target) -
mod compatibility
daddyairplanes replied to jack33's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i think he means the retool of our current for Win10 @ jack33, likely but not necessarily. it's supposed to be a retool for Third Wire to do what Windows already does to make the old Win7 game work in Win10(compatability) , plus take advantage of DirectX updates since the older versions were released but anytime TK looks sideways at the PC SF2 it seems something the modders incorporated into the game breaks. it was business as usual a long time ago but the stability had been nice since Jul2013 (the last patch to the game) back at yakarov79, it might not be a bad thing. it could bring in new blood on the game itself, and for every say 100 new players you might get 2-3 new modders. especially if the new version is not too different and can take our old abandoned mods -
In the oven
daddyairplanes replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
its not what if. it was a captured aircraft, used as a squadron hack and painted in those colors to try to avoid getting shot down by our own troops. -
static planes on Carriers
daddyairplanes replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
sorry. refer back the the third line; parking isnt garunteed even at 100% the airliners i would do are pleasant suprises when they pop up in game. but thats roughly a 1 in a 100 occurence even more fun you will have is getting an appropriate to conditions skin on aircraft (all same air wing frrom same year). ask the guys that get all of the same airwing, if its not models as part of the carrier model, then that has some skill set behind it they could share -
static planes on Carriers
daddyairplanes replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
you should give some fudge room in your carrier park span. try 4.551 instead of 4.55, or basically 0.001 over the largest aircraft your parking there. conversely to limit just go 0.001 under (ie 4.549) whats the wingspan of the Mi-8T in its data.ini? also aircraft parking is a quirky thing in game period. parking chance 100% doesnt garuntee an aircraft will park there. -

KC-10_SAC.7z
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File KC-10_SAC.7z SAC Twilight : KC-10A Extender(Marcfighters) This is a redux of the Marcfighters KC-10 mod. It incorporates each wing that used the KC-10A in the last few years of SAC service also included is a El Dorado Canyon skin. While we do not currently have this operation in the game, I was able to find pics of ten Extenders in the UK in the middle of April, 1986. Ten KC-10As were used in the operation. you do the math. Installation: Unlike many of my mods, i reccommend just deleting the previous mod if you have it on hand. This is a vast leap over the older skin set, and covers all available tankers rather than just 6 for each camo style. Allowing overwrite should not hurt anything, just dont complain about clutter if you go that path. Otherwise, like always, unzip and install into any SF2 mod folder. Included: 4 skins for the 2d BMW, 22d ARW, 68th ARW, and Operation El Dorado Canyon with historical serial numbers multi camo decal sets for these skins nose art as appropriate Known Issues the model and flight model are the same that Marcfighters included in the original (SF1) ODS mod. it was meant as eyecandy, and had no pit. as released i have commented out the cockpit, but had a sitting on the nose pit so i could load it in game to check work. there are also no windows for the cockpit, the entire fuselage is one piece (cause marking limitations) it is sluggish, and flies nose down. given there is a newer model known to be in the pipeline (eta two weeks), i am putting the lipstick on this pig but not working too much ini improvement. over 3/4 of the work on this should transfer easy to the new model when it comes comments on how she flies will be referred to this warning. Credits and Thanks marcfighters original model daddyairplanes skin and decal work KC-10 FB group reference on the old days of this tanker Anthony Spencer more detailed reference on the KC-10 Stratos, NightshadeP/R, allenjb42 extra eyes to catch my mistakes I hope you enjoy this mod Kevin Unruh aka daddyairplanes 28 June 2020 Submitter daddyairplanes Submitted 06/29/2020 Category Other
