Vipers Over Bosnia Part 1: USAFE F-16C/Ds During Operation Deny Flight In April 1993, NATO had documented over 500 unauthorized military flights over Bosnian airspace since the United Nations passed Resolution 781 that prohibited those flights. The Umited Nations then passed Resolution 816 that extended the flight ban to all fixed and rotary wing in the country and authorized memeber states to use all measures need to comply. On 12 April 1993, NATO began Operation Deny Flight, combat air patrols to enforce the no fly zone over Bosnia Herzogovina. In June 1993, Resolution 836 allowed NATO to also provide close air support to UNPROFOR on request (This was not often used because requests had to go to the UN in New York, then to NATO then back to the pilots and ground forces involved). As a result, the typical loadout was of air to air missiles as well as a pair of bombs and jaming pod. The closest American air base to the conflict zone was Aviano AB in Italy. Many US Fighter units forward deployed there at the beginning, including elements of the 86th Fighter Wing (512th and 526th Fighter Squadrons) which was transitioning from the F-16C Block 30 to the F-16C Block 40. This unit was in the middle of that transition on 28 Feb 1994 when elements of the 526th FS engaged 6 Serbian J-21 jets with the USAF claiming 4 downed (the Serbs claim 5 were lost). Later in 1994, the 86th Wing ceased fighter operations and the two squadrons were moved to Aviano to become part of the 31st Fighter Wing (510th FS and 555th FS). These squadrons continued operations over Bosnia through the shoot down incident on 2 Jun 1995 and the air strikes conducted as part of Operation Deliberate Force. With the adopting of the Dayton Peace Accords, Deny Flight was determined to no longer be necessary and terminated on 15 December 1995. This mod represents the four USAFE main F-16 squadrons that took part, the 512th FS Dragons, 526th FS Knights, 510th FS Buzzards, and 555th FS Triple Nickel. It also covers the two different blocks of F-16 flown at the time (30 and 40) Included F-16C Block 30 and 40, F-16D Block 40 new F-16D Block 40 various period specific weapons and pilots various ini edits to match the era new hangar and loading screens NOTE: The D models have very few serial numbers to each unit. most units only had one or two family models. The best use for these is to add on as a member of a flight of single seaters. The load outs are the same so you will be able to load the same weapons. US Marines interested in acquiring the Kuwait fleet of Hornets
daddyairplanes replied to GKABS's topic in The Pub
parts probably. the Marines have caught hell when they opted out of the Super Bug, preferring to wait on F-35B. Problem is, theyve waited much longer than anticipated and their old Hornets are wearing out. Not to mention theyve used up nearly all the parts for the C/D fleet (allegedly raiding museums for parts to keep operational aircraft flying) Hell, they even took the few F/A-18As left in the desert and upgraded them to A++ standard, almost to C. So im not suprised at all that they want them. probably keep the Ds and a couple of C flying and turn the rest to parts bins. -

F-14 Super Tomcat 21 - was it made for SF2?
daddyairplanes replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i know many would like the model, but who is still modelling that has experience or interest in the Cat? i got very very lucky with ravenclaw helping me with the two seater Vipers, but for the most part we dont have too many 3D folks left and those that are are mostly working what interests them. not mad, it is what it is i was just saying that a mid way could be to do up a Quick Strike version, since it will probably be a long time before a Tomcat 21 graces our screens. (where is Ceasar anyhow?) -

daddyairplanes replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
not having researched it heavily (nor will i be) arent the differences physically small enough to be able to do a mostly ini edit change? the pit would be the biggest difference phyiscally (and ini edit wise) i think ok i got curious and looked. if you go with a Quick Strike Tomcat, you have most of the capabilities but with out the physical differences scratch the one piece windscreen, Nite Owl (which looks like LANTIRN built into the Phoenix pallet anyhow) and extended LERX. as well as the bigger flaps and slats (increase angles to give similar effects) the rest (upgraded countermeasures, AMRAAM capability, APG-71, regular LANTIRN capability, F-110 engine and supercruise) should be doable via ini edit. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/29653/this-is-what-grummans-proposed-f-14-super-tomcat-21-would-have-actually-looked-like -

thank you for sharing. seen that sheet, decided not to use it my reference folder (pics i found useful). this isnt counting AMARC confirmations i didnt save (theres several i did) and the spreadsheet i keep it organized in. now color coded! the reddish brown one is the only one i could not photo confirm a color for. f16.net has proven a reliable enough resource that generally if it says it was there i believe it. with only a little reading between the lines and smaller grain of salt than most sites whats really bad is that i can tell you that photo is between 1993 and mid 1995 based on 709 in the back ground having red stripes. she went to AMARC with yellow -

very nice. (note to self, stay in the 90s, no 50th TFW Block 25s) meanwhile, another skin i said needed minimal work. honestly the original was the best of the Team Viper ADFs. aaaand then i went and nitpicked. it still didnt need as much to improve. fuselage artwork on both sides. adjustment to the tail, as Puerto Rico ANG actually did different colors for the different flights. but i still like how this one came out now i still gotta hunt down that nose gear door mark.... -

what he said. got the core game on the SSD drive, and all but two of my mod folders in my 1 TB drive. i recall it being more complex than that in actual practice, but it reads out about right for how to do it.
