  1. im sorry, ill rivet count here the labels are white labels with black lettering, usually all caps going across. basically its a sticker going across an pad on the front. once the factory given sticker wears off, we just use cheap white labels. it all comes off after one or two washings anyhow, hence the cheaper ones more frequently. but the factory labels do look nicer. much like the very first pic i posted of them last page
  2. B-47E

for anyone else reading this, talks are underway on a newer model. a couple have sent me copies of the model and SF2 update for it and i thank you. still looking for newer but as i like to say; cant find it, make it yourself. again, thank you for the help you have given, and no need to send me the older stuff anymore. Wrench, when you find them, that would be a good release even for the planes that have since been updated.
  3. I know V2K made a B-47B for Gen 2, did anyone ever do a E model for Gen 2? digging in the DL section, all i can find in aircraft is paulopanz's update, but that shoots a link to the now defunct Column5 site. otherwise, is the one in the OTC mod the only one we have here on site? and yes, im thinking about how there were more B-47 wings than the 380th. would be fairly easy too given all metal and SAC's policy on nose art at the time
  4. B-47E

    aaaaahhhh. that answers some things
  5. ok so my memory might be a little hazy, even as inexact as i gave dimensions
  6. B-47E

errr yeah. notice my signature below.... its why im looking on site. i remember column5 having it, but it seems not to have carried over
  7. Aviations cool and all. but field artillery teaches you how to hustle in my later years was doing stuff like trading SEABees tubs of Baskin Robbins ice cream for an 8 foot gazebo in Afghanistan. deployments, experiences may vary. pogey bait? thats cute damn if there was always abunch of these bad boys left after every field problem. and never saw a one turned in to the DFAC or TISA (the food warehouse) like the rest of the excess rations........... GKABS, at least in my time (which only wrapped up a few years ago) in you couldnt throw a rock without hitting a couple of these. 3 on every MKT (field kitchen) and most command sections (like would be using your track) had a dozen, along with better folding tables like you get at a store. i used them more for hand wash stations (with the same type juice jug as the coffee was in), but you usually didnt have to look to hard to find one. dimensions were around 2ft wide, 4 ft long and maybe 3 3/4 ft tall (0.6096 x 1.2192 x 1.143 meters according to google) as to juice jug dimensions, off of memory i could fit at least two under that table with 6 to 8 inches to spare in back. three on top scrunched together. better measurements than that and id have to google a GSA catalog. shapes pretty spot on, need two grooves on each side if you want to be perfect (the latches fit in the grooves, keeps em from breaking while being transported on thier sides). but id be shocked if folks looked that close. and your choice of green, brown or tan for colors. officers tagged to do inventories preferred them to be grouped by color, we grouped by which ones were serviceable, which got stripped for parts and which were absolute junk but still on the books. unless we only had one MKT, pretty much all our gear was sorted like that (the best trailer, second best, then the ones with a whole bunch of stuff on order) im both laughing and happy, getting some 92 Golf (Army cook) toys in game. even if its just a juice jug in a flight sim
  8. coffee stand stoffee shmand they get good old US Army hobo coffee, just like the rest of the joes. boiled with the grounds in the 15 gallon pot, then 2 quarts of cold water to sink the grounds to the bottom. darker than motor oil, and enough caffiene to have you hearing the color purple on the midnight to 0400 radio watch ok, so yes the coffee that would be where the Colonel, First Sergeant and Sergeant Major (in ascending order of importance) are get the grounds strained out better. keep the big dogs happy and the cooks can get away with more in the field

  12. let me reccomend some light reading for tonight. it will help you enjoy the game and this site better. for the SF2 otherwise known as Gen 2 stuff https://combatace.com/forums/forum/268-thirdwire-strike-fighters-2-series-knowledge-base/ for basic modding (that includes just adding stuff from here) https://combatace.com/forums/forum/99-thirdwire-strike-fighters-knowledge-base/ modders vary in how they upload. some include everything you need, some dont. some give detailed directions, some dont. of course some end users also dont read the detailed instructions. this mod was one of the less simple ones so i figured i'd help. the above links and all the threads within should help you be able to trouble shoot on your own
  13. guessing that your using viper63's pack, add this to your pilots folder FakePilot.7z the fake pilot trick doesnt work without a copy of the fakepilot. its how other parts are added onto completed models (like the canards)
  14. but you are an active modeller at the moment. thats a very big statement these days, and i for one thank you for stayin active in this old sim
  15. well, its CenUS folder and MidWest USA. plugged straight in from a copy of the mod folders on the semi retired laptop. was unaware of any other Midwest terrain. but presuming its yours, and if you ever retool it, the city is so damn close to Midway when i flew out in April i could see faces in cars going by . iirc, couple years back there was an accident where an airliner overran the runway, through a wall and into traffic! mandatory screenie
  16. its not buzzing the tower, its doing a height check on Sears Tower to the top of the building itself is 1450 ft so not too bad having messed with Midwest terrain for first time in years, gotta say, Midway is scrunched up as far into the city as the game will let you. its o'hare thats out in the boonie.
  17. nice thing about SF2: it gives everyone to do what they want with their version(s)
  18. Two-Seater Tuesdays

well, it was Centurion's work before he zonked off the internet completely. i sort of took over after no progress for like 6 months and packaged what we had to release. the antennea could be added via fake pilot; but finding someone with the time and interest is the issue. the few active modelers left have plates, tables and stove burners full at this time mandatory screenie, or hot doggin in the Canal Zone
  19. mentioned it else where, will mention it here too. good pits for the A-6. not the hidden stuff lurking in the archives. a new, working pit for at least the basic A/B/E models. SWIP and TRAM would be nice if a modeler wanted to go down those rabbit holes TK, if your lurking and reading this, pits for your stock non flyables as the 3x series DLC. would probably take care of funding woes with each one released better than a go fund me.
  20. Two-Seater Tuesdays

"well, i know its a combat sortie, but you might as well get some pattern work in too before we debrief. after all this bird is based on a trainer"
  21. OK, from the book Century Jets( itself a compilation of AIRTime Publishing magazine articles). the prgramme, called Thunderstick II, applied to D and F models. it involved installation of AN/ARN-92 LORAN and put solid state components in the NASRR radar system, now being designated R-14K. with these systems a Thud pilot could reasonably expect a CEP of +/- 50 ft from and altitude of 15000 ft they were easily distinguishable by teh large dorsal spine to house the LORAN and Doppler equipment. at least 30 d models were modified. although designed to help the crews in Southeast Asia, none of the Thunderstick II aircraft left the US. they were assigned to the 563d TFS, 23d TFW at McConnel AFB KS; then transferred to the 457th TFS (AFRES) at Carswell AFB TX remaining until 1980 when they were replaced with LORAN equipped F-4Ds NIELS top pic would be the 563d TFS, his bottom pic would be the 457th. dig a little deeper into pics on google, as Guard/Reserve units tend to change fin colors by flight (four aircraft) rather than squadron (18-24 aircraft) like the Active duty folks
  22. straight strike. in all things, think of the Thud then as you would a 2001 Nissan Sentra with 250,000 miles on it. you will drive it if you have it and its paid for. you might not carry a couch the next town over or street race it on a saturday night. but it will carry some load around town and the A/C will work if youre lucky. thats the state most of the Thuds were in after 1973, single seat or Weasel. the Weasels got better upkeep given their active duty mission. but probably advisable not to be pulling CAS or even fast FAC Its just our Uncle Sam has more money to keep things running than most folks do. so they were kept flyable until the next generation came online
