WIP Mega THREAD!
daddyairplanes replied to ErikGen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
i'm willing to skin her up, but i want to at least get the baseline DC-9 done first (panel lines, windows, doors and bare metal). i can do the user details after the Cargomaster. Wrench, you want to do a round two with this bird? -
Dhimar vs Paran 2021
daddyairplanes replied to Longbow1337's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i'd see A-5s for cash, J-10s for access. with heavy "contractor" support on the J-10 of course. funny how the Paranis started speaking Mandarin over the airwaves! interestingly, my view on how Dhimar should be was modelled on the Tiger Force from Tillmans Warriors. The Dhimaris (in my view) would want up to date weapons, yet as simple as can be within the operational needs so that they can support themselves in the event their benefactors change their minds. So in this instance, i would have gone for a fleet of SAAB/Dhimari Aircraft Corporation F-39C/D and E/F fighters. yes, license built in Dhimar. simplfy the supply chains, effective yet economical. yes Dhimar is analog to Saudi Arabia in being rich. But the house of Saud didnt have too many neighbors aiming to eliminate them in the first half of their history, so while they bought the toys they never really learned to use them. i view Dhimar as yes having the purchasing power of Saudi Arabia, but the military acumen closer to Israel. kinda happens when your neighbors are always out to steal from or kill you. -
Dhimar vs Paran 2021
daddyairplanes replied to Longbow1337's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i would totally play up the China angle for Paran. Paran has been the poor neighbor that wants what Dhimar has. In this decade, while Russia is looking for influence again, the bear still prefers cold hard cash over anything else. China on the other hand would be more than willing to upgrade infrastructure, update old equipment and sell new stuff at discount. All they have to do is sign up for a few loans and allow a few PLAAF PLAN bases in country. and THAT, is what could make things interesting outside of that, follow the money. who gains from helping a country that cant pay too much for said help? -

F-4B Phantom II
daddyairplanes replied to ravenclaw_007's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
well, that sets the answer (saw Rusty's reply as i was going to look up J models) if the B and J can carry, then N and S can too being major upgrades of the first two variants and not new builds. however, while the capability was there, it was rarely used operationally. the performance of the early Sparrows was such that it was better to carry some Winders for backup, esp with no gun. as to the drag chute, imo you should just assign it an animation key and make it a conscious act to deploy it. otherwise some fool out there will find a way to pop the new chute on your new Phantom landing on one of the new carriers coming out this year. and then complain on here about it -

i see you have the names on the other two commented, keep in mind Midway get fixed up the most in the 60s, and was the most unique of the three. Coral Sea almost got scrapped coming out of teh 70s but the build up in the 80s saved her for a few more years and poor Franklin was always the last in line for upgrades, and not economically fit for anything but scrapping by 77 -
Info about USN F-4Js along the DECM upgrade
daddyairplanes replied to macelena's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
well, i just have 4 airliners, a couple of classic prop cargo birds, all the tall tail B-52s including a new to us E model, F-4S skins, redux F-4N (both with CAG and line birds), Hercules users around the world, Air National Guard Herks, UH-60, nuclear weapons and anti submarine warfare. other than that my schedules fairly clear but i do hope to talk to you later this year in that case. -

daddyairplanes replied to macelena's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
was in the early days of me modding, and somebody else (mppd? cant recall this second) did the model for the DECM. Sundowner sent me a model he had for F-4J(UK) YEARS ago. which coincidentally is pretty much the standard that any remaining F-4Js were in 1982-3. thats the project i need to get going on -

its always about "TIME" !!
daddyairplanes replied to kurdistan1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
is changing possible? yes, as i have a 16x in addition to the others these are the values in the flightengine.ini MaxTimeCompression=16.0 <----------------- increased from 8 default in mine StartTimeCompression=1 <---------------------- what you may want to change however, as i understand it you would start at your lowest compression and have to work your way up to regular speed. im guessing this is for testing purposes? EDIT BECAUSE I GOT CURIOUS: set the start value at 0.5. the aircraft moved slower than normal tho not necesarily half speed. the first time shift brought it up to 1. however it never cycled back to 0.5 after that. also tried a MinTimeCompression, no dice. -
well, if you all have issue with pods remember the Brits do it cheaper in actual practice backstory for those that dont know, four Royal Marines rode the Apaches back to recover the body of a fallen comrade immediately after an ambush. Taliban scattered expecting a strike, just to have those four pop off and retrieve their mate. my understanding is that all AAC Apaches now have belts and hand holds after this mission

ol' shakey ! transport, bare metal skin, rare topic. i could make room on the schedule when shes ready now that main ODS work is done, wrapping up the mid east batch of Herks then doing at least a C-9A, B and K. should get a few rounds down on a DC-9-30 series before back to the next thing -
