  2. . Not strange at all Olham. Any time you are online shopping, viewing websites, whatever, there are any number of adware gizmos keeping track of everywhere you go so that the pop-ups will be better tailored to you. They can keep tabs on you in a variety of ways, and the only hope of getting rid of them is to completely clean out your cache and registry on a regular basis. They will however be back and start over the next time you go online. Welcome to 1984 Olham. .
  3. . Mais oui, mon ami. N'est pas tout le monde? .
  4. . Very cool Elephant. Thanks for sharing Sir. .
  5. . Pol, now you're just being mean to poor old Widowmaker with those latest pics you've posted. Beautiful stuff. .
  6. . And isn't that the truth Duke. Also, I agree with Shiloh, this one could go either way. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. .
  7. . Wish I knew what to tell you on this one WM. You've done exactly what I would have in the situation. Are you sure the OS install disc is still good? Haven't been storing it in the microwave or next to large electromagnets? JK. .
  8. . I don't know what the result would be with that setting Creaghorn. You should give it a try and let us know. .
  9. . Oh oh, I believe we've been taken to task by the headmaster. Apologies Olham for temporarily derailing your thread. To topic: I have had some success with this tweak in the past, but do not see any visible changes with my latest system and configuration. I will now write this one hundred times on the chalk board. And Dimus, I echo Olham's best wishes for a speedy recovery of your economy Sir. Indeed, I wish that for every country in the world that is in financial peril these days. .
  10. . Since we are passing around a fair amount of tips lately concerning settings in OFF and ways to improve performance in slower systems here's another one you can try. Don't tick the box in your Graphics Config to disable the shadows but instead try reducing the texture budget and size of the object shadows. You do this by going to the 'Texture Info' tab in your Graphics Config and once there lower the 'Object Shadow Texture Budget' to 100, and the 'Object Shadow Size' to 128. This will significantly reduce the resources required by this feature yet still allow you to enjoy it. The only thing you will notice with these two values lowered is that the shadows will 'wink out' sooner than they normally do as your distance increases between you and the objects. Here is a snapshot of the tab that should help clarify what you are looking to adjust: Give it a try and you might find it gives you yet another little increase in performance. Cheers! Lou .
  11. . For some reason I am hearing Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice saying, "I am Max Frps, the Strutter ELIMINATOR!" .
  12. . I agree that there are numerous issues to overcome with this one, Uncleal. And, I will point out again that I tried something similar myself which did work OK, however in the end I invested in the Saitek Pro Flight pedals. However, no matter how it's done, a set of rudder pedals will make OFF into a whole new experience and change the sim nearly as much as TrackIR does. .
  13. . Uncleal, the set-up Ulti posted a pic of looks as if it will give left and right rudder inputs as he has the pedal bar mounted on a central hinge point. Pushing forward on the right side of the bar causes the arm to swing to the left which should twist the stick to the right in the process; pusing forward on the left side of the bar should yield similar results in the opposite direction. He will likely need to narrow the band on the twist calibration so he won't need as much pedal bar movement to affect the full twist action provided by the stick. None-the-less, it might work pretty well with a bit of fiddling. .
  14. . I also applaud the efforts of those who cobble, being one who does the same as evidenced by the throttle modification I came up with some time back. It's still working great too. .
  15. . Well, there are other candidates in the category of 'Worst Actor in a WWI Aviation Combat Movie', not the least of which is the entire cast of the 1971 stinker, "Von Richthofen and Brown". However, as atrocious as the acting is, and despite a total disregard for actual history in any way, shape or form, at least they flew REAL aeroplanes: .
  16. . That is a very good video Creaghorn, and more than a bit poignant. Thanks for sharing Sir. .
  17. . Oh Wayfarer, sounds as if you might well qualify for membership in the BOC. Dej, since you made mention of the criteria for joining this highly questionable organization, I respectfully ask that you draft our membership charter for approval of the founding members. Also, I have the proof ready for our amended letterhead and club motto: .
  18. . Dej, after several rounds and toasts to our own cleverness the idea of the Dodo bird as the club emblem had us in stitches. Aaaaaah, the simple joy of viewing the world through beer goggles. Now as to your vote for 'Per Dementia Ad Astra' as our motto: In the sober light of day I must confess I like it much better. I can order up another case of letterhead and ring up the foundry to inform them of the alterations. In for a penny, in for a pound, I say. .
  19. . Javito, I have a template I can send you for the pilot certificate if you like. Or if you rather you can send me the photo you would like to use, along with your pilot's particulars, and I can plug them in and send you the finished item. Olham, it doesn't surprise me that you can't recollect all the particulars of the first meeting of the BOC, and calling it a celebration is putting it lightly. I was a bit fuzzy on everything that transpired that evening myself, and as we didn't hear from Dej for two days afterwards I gather he was having some memory issues concerning the proceedings as well. However, certain events of that night became much clearer when a case of stationary arrived at my door, (COD I might add), bearing what is, apparently, our agreed upon letterhead: According to my bank charges, the club plaque should be arriving any day now from the brass foundry. .
  20. . Gawd! It's good to know I'm not the only one who does those sorts of things Dej. The other afternoon I made note of the fact that the clouds rolling in from the northwest would provide perfect cover for a dusk raid on the railyards at Roubaix and that I should ring up the field and have them ready the buses. My wife looked at me as if I had lobsters crawling out of my ears. And Olham old man, BOC stands for Barmy OFFers Club, of which you are a founding member. Now then, about those drinks... .
  21. . That's a beauty Dej, and you're clearly a member in good standing of the Barmy OFFers Club. (Dej and Lou quickly trade secret handshakes and high signs before toddling over to the pub for a round of drinks and war stories with BOC cohort Olham.) .
  22. . Slartibartfast wrote: Oh alright then. Rugbyfan1972 wrote: Why yes, yes I was. Lewie, that Caudron of yours is very nice Sir. I'd love to see that one in the OFF skies And it was Stumpjumper who did the Breguet 14, along with numerous other aeroplanes that are not in P3 officially but are in the DL section. .
