  1. No worries. The new drive should be in by Wednesday. I'm going to give this one a try...... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136358 As soon as it does, the old one will come out.
  2. Thanks guys!. I finally uninstalled everything (even that WWI sim which will remain un-named here) just in case. Searched for anything and everything OFF or CFS3 and got rid of it, then restarted and started over. It works now, thank goodness. I'll just put this down as practice because I'm going to have to do it all over again in a few days when the new HD comes in. Thanks again! CJ
  3. First of all, my six month old Seagate 500Gb SATA HD bit the big one. Don't know what happened. I shut down the PC and when I started it back up I got "Disk boot error, insert system disk". I said "Okay" and put the XP disk in the drive and was told there was no hard drive in my computer. There was definitely no joy in Mudville this night! I broke out an 80Gb IDE 133 Ultra that is supposed to be for my son's computer (once I get his case) and put it in. After I got XP re-installed and updated to SP3, .Net framework 3.5, yada, yada, I installed CFS3, updated it to V3.1, and flew the P-47, more out of habit than anything else, and it ran fine. I installed BH&H and everthing went smooth as clockwork. Ran the config, did the setup, made a pilot, and went for a QC. Everything went smooth until it got to the splash screen with Richthofen and Ball that says "WWI World Initialising", and then it crashed back to the QC screen. I went back and tried to start CFS3 again and the game froze on the big splash screen. I pushed Esc and got CTD. So the problem is with CFS3. I got the new copy of CFS3 (V3.1) that I bought not long ago, uninstalled OFF, deleted the folders that were left, and restarted the machine. I put the BH&H disk in the drive and when prompted I put in the CFS3 disk. When the necessary files were downloaded from the CD, I replaced CFS3 with BH&H and continued. Everything went smooth as silk, no problems. The patches went in just as easily, but I still got the crash after the initialisation screen. My problem is obviously with my machine as two different sets of CFS3 were used and both produced the same problem. I believe it's a CFS3 problem because I loaded up that other WWI sim (which shall remain nameless here) and it runs fine. Unfortunatel, it's not the one that I want to fly. Any ideas fellas? CJ
  4. Hi SD! The 80 gig seems to be working fine. Some others have had the same problem with OFF, so I'll just have to search for the threads when I have time. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that as there is 288Gb worth of stuff I'd like to get back if possible. Wish me luck! CJ
  5. I know that very well! I spent two years in a little Scottish town called Dunoon back in the seventies. GB is a beautiful place, from London to the Scottish Highlands. CJ
  6. You may need to make a map of just Great Britain Olham! It's getting a little crowded up there! CJ
  7. I was on the computer yesterday, taking care of some business, and needed to go to the bank and make a deposit. I shut the computer down and went uptown. Got back about thirty minutes later, booted up the machine to check my account and the splash screen stayed up a lot longer than usual. It finally started to boot and then stopped and I got "Disk boot error, insert system disk". I put in the XP disk and it started installing Windows! Well, it went through some of the motions and then tells me "There is no hard disk". NONE! It just disappeared. Nothing I did helped. Well, I had an 80Gb 133Ultra (thanks again Sitting Duck) that I was going to put in my son's computer when I got his case, so I put it in and installed XP and all that that implies, and got it going again. Installed CFS3 and patched it. Installed Trackir etc. Installed BH&H, patched to 1.31l Went through the config etc and fired it up to fly. Everything went great at first, went to CFS3QC to test everything out and after the splash screen with MvR and Ball it dumps me right back to CFS3QC. Any suggestions? Is the 133Ultra too slow to keep up with the rest of my hardware? I'm ordering another HD tomorrow but it won't be another Seagate. That drive was less than six months old. Looking at a WD 500Gb SATA. Thanks in advance. CJ
  8. Someone contacted me today and said he was trying to join the forum here but his email was banned. He has Yahoo and Hotmail and neither will work. Will a Gmail address suffice? Any info would be extremely helpful. Thanks, CJ
  9. I spotted one of my favorites on the next to the bottom shelf. "No Parachute". Nice collection there Shredder! CJ
  10. My screen name has been called "racist" by some but really isn't meant to be derogatory in any way. Cameljockey, in this case, is someone who flies a Sopwith Camel.
  11. Online play is actually one on OFF BH&H's weakest points, as it is mainly an offline/single player game. The dynamic campaign is like a black hole that sucks you in and sends you back in time ninety some odd years to a time when men were made of iron and airplanes were made of wood and canvas. You can start out as a lowly two seater gunner or pilot, or you can seek your fame in a scout. Either way, you're going to have to work hard just to survive. If you've ever played RB3D, OFF BH&H is like RB3D with twin turbochargers! I could go on and on but we'd be here all day. Check out some of the YouTube vids or go to www.overflandersfields.com and check out the preview videos. You can't go wrong. I paid $59 US for it and haven't regretted it. At $29.99 you just can't go wrong! And yes, Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3-Battle for Europe is required also. A copy of CFS3 can be picked up for around $10 now days. Welcome to the OFF Community! CJ
  12. Actually. I do all of the cooking. The Missus is a quadriplegic but no less a wonderful woman. Despite her health she has given me two healthy children and 22 years of joy. I wouldn't change a thing, even if I had the chance!
  13. Right now I'm cooking dinner. Grilled ribeye steak, grilled shrimp, deep fried flounder and steak fries, fresh Ceasar salad, and for dessert, Angel food cake with fresh strawberry glaze topped with whipped cream (I plan to have some fun with that). Thanks guys! CJ
  14. I am a lucky man! To find someone to put up with me for that long......she deserves the Pour le Merite! CJ
  15. Are you sure that wasn't a McDonald's sign? Oh yeah, that's billions.
  16. Or ogling the Missus! Widowmaker may have too much panache!
  17. Hey Olham, you've got Uncleal in the wrong place. You're off at least a couple of hundred miles. Look where it says "Unc" on this map. You've got him up around Tallahassee!
  18. Shoot me a pm with your address gwar. I'll get you a copy. CJ
  19. Forgot to put gas in it again eh Olham. Don't you know you can't wean that thing?
  20. To keep dust levels down and airflow up. Besides, if I stash it down on the floor next to the desk you wouldn't be able to see all of the pretty LEDs, chrome pipes on the CPU cooler, or the chrome heat spreaders on the memory! I've already had a few folks get me to order them a case and transfer all of the insides of their machines after looking at it.
  21. Actually, a lot of small towns in America look similar.
  22. Here are some pics of my hometown of Hampton/Varnville, SC (Siamese towns) as "Greenbow, Alabama" in the movie Forrest Gump. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...%3D342%26um%3D1 CJ
