Another OFF Immersive Moment

I agree, but my #1 choice would be Udet Nothing to do with his later transgressions Just to survive that long, one must be very cautious For all the times I've been hit by friendly fire, you'd think I'd seen this just once That must of really made you sit up in your seat Was it a close call for you too? Good un Bullet Crash landings are part of RL and can be as much fun as a DF Hope P4 can eliminate the auto exit to the OFF Manager What functions did the gremlins eat anyways? -
Another OFF Immersive Moment

Mnay a time I've dove down to help out a wingie in trouble Thought has crossed my mind "What am I nuts?" Maybe a little of both factors A couple weeks ago I was returning alone when I spotted 2 DVII's down low harassed by 5 Se5's Pushed thge nose over and heard the Superman music as I dove to the rescue 1/2 there 1 DVII belched smoke and augered in, almost there the 2nd burst into flames! Now I'm surrounded by 5 angry Tommies ...I did hit the 1st one rather hard though Wonder how many RL Aces would've passed this over? -
Outstanding!

Haven't flow Se5's in a long while but I remember that Aldis Sight I switched to RFC 74 They have a nice Ring Sight and removed that big head rest too Either that or get so close, you can't miss Happy Hunting,

Another OFF Immersive Moment

They're no more than electrons in a rock (silicon chip) yet somehow we cherish them Yep, that's immersion ...or insanity -
Oh, he will!!! When I was a youngster, my buddy & I played hooky from school one day Avid BB Gun Hunters, we wondered about taking pot shots at anything that moved Walking up a path we spotted a Red-Winged Blackbird Colony in a tree Pretty quickly we were firing away, followed very quickly by them going into attack mode and swarming us They won as we turned tail and ran swinging our guns above our heads For 2 years those birds remembered me and would swoop me everytime I passed They'd let my friends go by OK and would single me out Stay Safe,

Another OFF Immersive Moment
Duce Lewis replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion

Advice for a first campaign?
Duce Lewis replied to Gromit's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Here's a suggestion akin to RL experiences Start out in Free Flight flying a Halberstadt as if in flight traing When you're used to it, start a 1916 campaign in an Alb DII or DIII Go into the heart of flanders for some action And whatever you choose, please report your experiences ...and welcome to OFF M8!!! -
Nice little song an video I'm often struck by how inept we are at honoring our veterans There is no gift or conveyance of gratitude that can repay them for their suffering on our behalf Yet veteran's hospitals are underfunded and the gov't denies their illnesses even exist When will we learn? 2 minutes well spent I say! Cheers Bullet, NS, and all the other vets This one's on me Thanks for sharing Wid!

Just when you thought you've seen it all... It was a balloon buster we took off and there were bogies all about Albatross, DVII's, and Dr1's, and a nice big dogfight Mixed in there was a poor hapless flight of Spads getting their clocks cleaned I noticed that they had an diangonal stripe of red and yellow across their upper planes No need for us, so we flew on Crossing the lines, A Flight got stupid and dove down towards 2 flights of Spads I wasn't happy as we should proceed to the balloon, but we moved to engage Well, they weren't diving towards the Spads but OVER THEM!!! Yiles!!! so we reversed and dove for our lines with 2 flights of Spads in hot pursuit We didn't get far and when they almost reached firing range, I called the attack Now WE got our clocks cleaned!!! Tried to stay high and spread my rounds out to different targets ...but eventually 1 of them shot up my engine Luckily the fight dissipated and I snuck out, my trusty wingman catching up to me Sputtered, chugged, and clunked over the frontlines when a bogie appeared dead ahead He was alone so figuring with the wingie present ...I didn't bother to evade Turned out to be a Spad, tensions rose as we closed, passed, ready to jerk into a turn to engage But nothing happened!! we passed within 1/2 mile of each other and both just flew on Then I saw his upper plane ...red and yellow diagonal stripe He was probably just as shot up as I was and didn't want anything to do with a fight either And my good ol' wingie stayed put too as if he knew that I needed protection How much real can you get? Thanks guys, this sim is a gem!!

Advice needed for two seaters.
Duce Lewis replied to rabu's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Rabu, I have limited experience in a Roland You're right to ask for tactics because I had trouble at 1st (trying to fly her like a fighter) I found she could turn fairly good but had a slow roll rate Fighters could snap into a turn faster tan I could and would turn back under me Took me a while to realize that the fight's not over even at this point Just roll her on her side and let the TG have a shot at him So you need to think tactically for your TGer as well as yourself Height is more precious in a 2 Seater too as they usually don't climb as good as the fighters HTH & Happy Hunting, -

Germany will mourn his passing

Great career there Ryan! The Kaiser will sent a note of condolence to his Mum Good luck in the Pup This rounds on me -
Yes, they were insane to fly these planes in WWI
Duce Lewis replied to OvS's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Shape adds a lot to strength Lay a piece of paper over the side of a table and it can't even support it's own weight Fold it up accordian style and it's immensely stronger Junkers Ju52 and Ford Trimotors used this princple in their currugated skins -
Now I'll be even more superstitious
Duce Lewis replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That's sound about right The Geneva Convention forbade use of POW's to further the war effort Many German POW's were used as farm labor, picking potatos in Idaho, etc. Many do like the desert life I have dry skin & after 2 weeks I'm an alligator so it's not my cup o' tea I agree, the desert sky is something to behold No moisture means no haze so they're the bluest skies I've ever seen If you drive out, away from the population and light polution, there's many more stars to see Best part was our company was very generous as far as meal charges We ate steak night after night & Texas has some great steak houses! -
Now I'll be even more superstitious
Duce Lewis replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You better hope they don't ship you off to the US I saw a documentary where about 5 German prisoners escaped in WWII Course they were in the desert southwest ...nowhere to go!!! They recaptured some and the last one eventually turned himself back in -
I must have had 3 pilots this week knocked down by Friendly Ack_Ack It's by far my biggest killer Last one dropped after I set Ground Fire to Light too Can't remeber the last time that Enemy Ack-Ack has hit me, though wingies have gone down Looking at the results, I'm the only 1 who listed it as a common cause of death Must be an install issue, but at least now I know OK, rant over Thanks for all thye input guys ...keep it coming! Red-Dog, I think that'll all be changing in the near future TrackIR should solve the disorientation Ah, but that's the trouble with polls You never quite know all the questions to ask til it's over Next time I'll drink heavily before scrawlin 1 up

Duce Lewis replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
A salute to the Rittmeister He'll no doubt harass his captors so much they'll wish they could give him back All my medals seem to dissappear once a pilot is killed or captured too
